Silence filled the room and Meikah glanced wistfully at the door. She was fairly certain that no matter what the Duke said, Kellan would follow his own rules.
Kellan grinned at the Duke. “You have to admit, it was an inspired prank. We didn’t swim in the fountain.”
The Duke sighed, slowly shaking his head. “I think you gain far too much enjoyment from your cover stories, Kellan. The Duchess is also of the same opinion.”
Kellan chuckled. “You could be right, Your Grace.” He stretched out his legs, leaning back and making himself more comfortable in the chair. “What task do you have for us? I doubt you’re about to waste your breath on telling us how to behave.” Kellan grinned.
The Duke sighed again. “No wonder your parents worry over you.”
Kellan’s grin remained in place.
