Chapter 20 The Call

---Quinton's POV---

I storm out of the office just wanting to go back outside and away from my brother.. At least for now... Maybe I should go to my room to clear my head.. it doesn't matter where, just anywhere but here.

"Quinn what's going on sweetheart?" My mother asks me because she can obviously tell that something is wrong with me.

"Shane is back." Is all I say as I walk past her and headed to my room to get some peace and quiet to make this call.

I make it all the way up the stairs and to the highest floor in the pack house, which is the 3rd floor.. floor for the Alpha and his family.. I get down the hallway pretty quickly with my feet practically running, getting to my room as I just slam the door behind me because the slamming somehow makes me feel a little better.. like some sort of child having a tantrum.

I flop onto the bed as I take my phone out and typing in the number Sandy gave me for the Trader. It rings once and is answered instantly.

"Who's calling and why?" they declare without a greeting of any sort, just demands. "Beta Quinton from the Light Paw Pack, I want to talk to someone about the auction tonight." I state trying to be casual about it but still tough when it comes to my demands.. Making sure that they know I mean business.. I have to be able to fit in with this crowd for my makeshift plan to work.

"It's 100 for a ticket." The woman states as I swallow and reply. "That's fine.. where is it?" I ask as she quickly gives me an address but I have to get her to repeat it once more for me, so I can write it down.

"It's starts at 9pm and goes until Midnight.. we will provide drinks and snacks during, but you cannot stay you have to take your prizes and leave and you can only get your prizes once you pay.. once the money goes through officially, then and only then you can receive your delightful prize.. we need you to pay for the ticket for your car now and you can only have one extra guest per ticket with you.. but I need more information to confirm the purchase as well.. so just one ticket sir?" She asks me as I swallow the lump in my throat before stating. "I need two tickets please and I have my card information ready when you are." I say to her as she takes the numbers i give her, then typing them in.. I give her the other information that she needs so we can make sure to confirm this.

"Thank you so much see you tonight sir.. You should have a ticket sent to your cell phone and email if not both.. you just need to print them off to leave one in your car and one with you for claiming your vehicle when things are done or you're ready to leave." I hear my phone ding showing me I got an email from her.

"Thank you so much see you tonight." I say to her as she just hangs up the call. I let out a deep breath I didn't even know I was holding in before I hear a light knock to my door.

It slowly opens showing my mother who never waits for a response before coming in. "Quinn sweetheart I need to talk with you." She says to me as I just nod for her to finish coming in.

"I know you're stressed about your father and mad about your brother staying away for an extended time but he just wanted extra time with his mate.. which isn't a bad thing so I don't think you should be THIS upset." She states to me as I just shake my head.

"That's not the only reason why I'm mad." I say to her as she sits down on the bed next to me just waiting for me to continue.

I run my hand through my hair because I'm nervous about telling her about Evelyn.. she is all about goddess given mates and I don't know how she would react to my choice.

"So.... I met a woman at the mate gathering.. she is not my mate.. but she is something amazing.. we got along so well and she makes me feel so good.. she has been rejected by her mate after being raped.. she even been beat and made into a slave by her own father.. so she Is very strong, stronger than I ever expected.. We have a just as strong connection as well.. we spent the whole night talking and I couldn't think about anything but her.. I asked her that next morning to be my chosen mate and she agreed then kissing me and hugging me tight telling me she would love that.... that's when her father charged me 1 million dollars for her and said if I don't have that money that he will sell her to the Trader because he is offering that for her.. because she is a hard worker and does everything for his pack like a slave and the fact that she is an Alpha female means he gets to charge more.. but I obviously couldn't pay for it so he sold her to the Trader and he took her away to sell her at this auction.. That's happening tonight so I just bought a ticket and I'm going to try to figure out a way to get her out of there before she becomes someone s*x slave." The words just spill from my mouth like word vomit, that I can't seem to stop at all.

I observe her mouth open up in shock not knowing what to say about all this because I know it's so much to take in but I'm not going to keep it from her like a particular brother of mine.

"Quinn.. I'm so happy you found someone that means this much to you that you would help her like this.. it's awful that all that could happen to her and done by her family, that's shameful.. I would like to tell you to not go to a place like that but that poor girl needs your help.. I just hope you can figure something out because if not then things could be horrible for you.. you need to take some warriors with you.. or just someone." She demands from me as I just nod knowing what I need to do.

"I bought a ticket for me and Shane.. but we are not allowed to bring lots of people.. maybe one more if anything.. but that's it." I explain to her as she let's out a wavering breath looking so nervous.

"I hope you get everything figured out for tonight.. but you will have to be going soon and you need to figure things out with your brother before that.. because if you go into this situation pissed off, then it will distract you from the important task at hand and we can't have that." She declares as I just nod knowing she is right about this.

"I will talk with him and figure this out I promise.. I'm just irritated with him... I could never actually hate him and Celine seems nice so I can't hate him for wanting more time with her.. I'm just mad that he ignored me in the process.. I have never ditched him.. it just hurts." I say to her as we hear the door opening up before l see my brother and his mate standing in the door way.

"I'm really sorry Q.. I just love her.. and you know how busy this job keeps me when I am here, so I just wanted extra time of just me and her before I had to come back to these tasks.. my actions weren't directed at you I promise." He tries to explain to me so sincerely.

I nod at that as I let out a deep breath. "Things have just been hard here without you.. more sad around if anything.. and to know that it was intentional to leave me like this.. in this situation without you nor dad, just hurt but I do appriciate your apology.. and she seems sweet so I understand." I say to him as he walks across the room and to me, pulling me into him, as we hug a big brotherly hug once again.

"I'm going with you to get her tonight I don't care what you say about it.. do you know where and what time?" Shane asks me as I just nod at him. "I bought us each a ticket but we can only bring one guest each so I figured warriors." I explain to him, getting him to nod, liking my idea. That is until we hear from Celine. "No way I'm going to be Shane's guest.. I know my way around that place and if they recognize me which I'm sure they will, I can help with your credibility in this place about buying people. Soooo I'm coming."

I look at Shane and he looks irritated but you can tell his mind is reeling. "Fine.. you can only come if you promise to not wander off and to stick to our plan.. so you understand me?" He asks with so much demand from her that she has no wiggle room for negotiation, she has to agree or not go.

I observe her nod her head at him as she softly says, "I agree.. but I'm going to need a fancy dress to wear and you gentlemen are going to need suits to wear.. this is an event and everyone will be dressed up.. we need to make sure to look the part."

I nod at that as my mother states, "I think I have a dress you can use my dear.. follow me and we will help you get ready while these guys start getting ready too. Start getting ready and we will be back soon enough boys." She says waving at us from behind as she leads Celine out of my room.. we can hear their feet tromping down the hallway away from us.

"Ok you get ready and I'll do the same.. we will meet up at mom and dad's room to get her and maybe we should just bring Evan he is smart and a very reliable warrior.. he will be a good companion in thus mission." Shane suggests to me as I smile and nod. "Ok can you let him know about this mission Alpha.. I need to get cleaned up and I'll be out to meet you soon enough." I state as he smiles patting my shoulder before leaving the room. Time to get ready and try to get my lady back.
