Elena POV
I woke up in the recovery room feeling like I'd been hit by a truck and everything hurt in ways I didn't know were possible, and the world was fuzzy around the edges like I was looking through water.
"Elena?" Lily's face appeared above me. "Can you hear me?"
"Yes." My voice came out scratchy. "The babies?"
"The babies are perfect, both of them are in the NICU right now being monitored but they're doing beautifully." Lily's smile was huge. "They're breathing completely on their own, no oxygen needed, no assistance, they're fighters."
Relief crashed over me so hard I started crying and I couldn't stop, tears running down my face while Lily held my hand and told me over and over that Rose and Violet were okay.
