Attack Of The Blood Moon

Crystal's POV - A blood moon occurs when Earth's moon is in a total lunar eclipse. They happen every so often, tonight is the next. The sky, the stars, the moon - astrology, something that's always interested me. One of my only stress relievers.. A way to clear my mind and escape from my tragic life. I recently turned 18. On the night of my birthday, my mom got abrasively drunk and blurted out that I'm adopted. I always had an inkling.. She always favored my older brother, Ryan. She never really seemed to care all that much about me... Telling me that I'm pathetic and useless any chance she got. That stung more than what the bullies at school had to say. This came from my own mom.. Or I guess, who I thought was my mom. Now that I'm 18 and only have a couple of months left until graduation, I want to use the money I saved up from working and finally leave this place and everyone here. Entering the school grounds and having everyone stare and or laugh at you, kind of just makes you want to curl up into a ball and die. For once, can't I just have one day where no-one bothers me? Walking towards my locker, hearing nothing but sniggering and sly comments being spoken behind my back by none other than my bully of four years, Ashley Baker. Everyone at school seems to adore her; I will admit, she is gorgeous. She has long golden curly hair, piercing blue eyes and an athletic physique. I open my locker and it's filled with dirt which spills out and covers me from chest to foot. "Hey Crystal, you look a little dirty there. Need a wash?" Ashley says as her and her minions all throw water over me. I want to cry and I want to fight back, but I can't do either. Teachers watched as I stood there needing help but did nothing, until my one and only friend, Ivy, dragged me away from the crowd and took me to change into the school's spare clothes. "Why do you allow them to get away with humiliating you like that?", "Honestly Ivy, you know it would be worse if I did something. A few more months and they'll be out of my life for good". Thankfully, it was Friday. The school day was over and done with, then I had a shift at the library and then I'd go to my favorite spot in the woods to watch the blood moon. 9pm, closing up at the library with no-one else around. The sky had already gotten dark and the streetlights were starting to turn on and light up the sidewalks and roads. This night seemed to be a lot colder than usual and of course I didn't have a jacket with me. As I make my way down towards the clearing in the woods, it feels as though I'm being watched.. This seems to be a feeling I've been getting all the time lately. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, right? I finally got to my favorite spot in the woods. A huge smooth rock that I always lay back on, next to a small calming stream and surrounded by trees. That's when I heard a noise... the sound of branches snapping underneath someone's feet. "H-hello?" "Who's there?". Nothing but the sound of the stream and the swaying of the wind. Gosh, maybe I am being paranoid. Phoenix POV - Shit.. She almost caught me. I can't let her know that I've been following her for months now. What would she think of me? Creep.. Loser.. Stalker. Fuck. Snap out of it, Phoenix. You are the Alpha, get yourself together. I can't help but watch her.. Ever since the first time I saw her out here.. Her long auburn hair blowing in the breeze, pale complexion with rosy cheeks and striking silver eyes. Why don't other's see her beauty? Or is it that they're jealous. She's breathtaking. What am I doing... She's human. It's against the rules. But the thing is, I feel magically drawn to her, as though she may be my mate.. I haven't had this feeling with anyone before in my 21 years on this earth. Is it even possible to be mated to a human? All of a sudden, I feel my body temperature rising and my bones starting to move. I'm about to change. I thought I had time but the blood moon is forcing me to shift and I have no control over it. I need to get away from her before I end up hurting her.. Or worse, killing her. I haven't felt pain shifting since I was 17, but this is excruciating. I can't hold it together anymore, I scream out in pain and I can't move. Crystal's POV - The eclipse is starting, It's just as mesmerising as I imagined it to be. This is my peace. Or atleast it was. I know now that someone is definitely out here with me, potentially hurt. "Hello? Where are you?" "Please, say something!" Once again, no response, so instead I'll go look for myself, what harm can that do. A strong feeling of fear courses through my body like a tidal wave but I keep walking, someone clearly needs help and I'm not going to leave them. I get close to one of the oldest looking trees in this neck of the woods and see a man laying beneath it, sweating and panting. I kneel down next to him and place my hand on his arm, gesturing him to look at me. As he turns his head, I feel a strange sensation.. more than attraction.. something different. This man laying infront of me is undeniably handsome, he has wavy chestnut hair, a jawline so sharp you could cut yourself on it and he seems to be really muscular. "Um, Sir? Are you ok? "Please leave, I'ts not safe for you to be here. Go, now!" His stern tone and worrysome look left me confused. Doesn't he want help? That's when I noticed his eyes, gleaming red. Just like the blood moon. I tried to get up but I was so startled that I fell onto my back, trying to shuffle my body away from this mysterious man with red eyes. "Wh-what's wrong with your eyes?" "I told you to go. It's too late now. AHHH" The man started screaming once again, but now he's on his hands and knees and it looks as though his body is changing... "Oh my god". The man... has turned into a wolf. It's stood a metre away from me, drool dripping from his snarling mouth, claws digging into the dirt in the ground. I slowly start to stand and then I make a run for it. I'm running as fast as I possibly can, but I know the wolf is gaining on me. Screamimg for help is useless out here but I do it anyway, in hopes that someone will come and save me from this beast. Suddenly I feel a razor sharp pain on my leg and then I hit the ground. The wolf stands over me with my blood dripping from his jowels. I close my eyes and wait for my death. I can feel myself blacking out. Is this really how my life is going to end...
