Chapter Three

Trying to sleep when you don't have a bit of sleep in you is ridiculous.
I know .
Using sleeping pills would have helped me but am restricted from having any sleeping pills .
Just great .
Why can't I just get drunk and have a sound sleep ? But my best friend doesn't like my idea !
Twisting and turning in my bed I lay there facing the ceiling . Sleeping in sober state is a nightmare for me . Old dreams keep haunting me back and I wake up wide in shock . That's my usual routine when I try to sleep alone when am sober.
Groaning I got out from my bed and went to the next room that is just opposite to mine . Opening it slowly I find a half naked Nick sleeping sound.
Am jealous.
Closing the door I went and got inside his blanket and snuggled onto his side . He sneeked his arm around my waist pulling me upto his chest and kissing my forehead he whispered .
" Sleep well Princess . "
" Will try to . "

" Get up you big foot ! "
" SHUT UP JEN ! "
" Nick ! Get your arse out of that Bed ! We're gonna be late ! " I said jumping on his bed .
Yes I still wake him up like that . No other way would help me in waking that jerk .
You all maybe thinking why am wide awake today ?
Because I just had four glasses last night so am sober . That made me wake up early .
We three share one house . So its our responsibility to wake each other up.
So now am sitting on top of Nick's back trying to wake him up but he isn't moving an inch !
" NICK am giving you one last chance of waking up . GET UP ! "
Silence .
" Oh you asked for it . " I said and pulled his hair hard .
" OW! OW ! OW ! Am up ! Am up ! Leave my hair you i***t ! .. Ow !! " he said trying to push me off.
" You were the one who asked for this . Now get UP . We're gonna be late . " I said while standing up but soon Nick turned to face me and pulled me down and turned me over with him on top of me .
" You had the guts to touch my poor precious hair ? " he said pinning my arms on my side .
I nodded enthusiastically .
That was my mistake .
" Oh yea ? " he said tickling me .
My weakness .
" O-O-Okay ! Am... am sorry ! " I said in between my laughter .
He suddenly stopped tickling me and just stared at me with a sheepish smile .
He kissed my forehead and smiled .
" Its rare that I get to see you sober and happy . Umm... Lets go .. Umm where's Lin ? " he got off me and put his t shirt .
" Umm...she is downstairs making breakfast. "
Straightning my shirt I got off the bed and went downstairs to kitchen .
Entering into the kitchen mouth watering smell enveloped me .
" Hey Jen . Hungry ? "
I nodded enthusiastically .
She chuckled and passed on a plate of fried chips , bacon and scrambled egg .
Yum .
You see Lin is a great cook . She is the only one that can save me and Nick from starving to death . Since I woke up early this morning I get to eat freshly made breakfast from Lin otherwise I would wake up late every time and she would leave for work along with Nick .
After filling her own plate she sat down opposite to me .
" Feels good to see you early this morning . Umm.. Jen yesterday someone dropped you back right ? I saw someone standing in front of our door . You know what creeped me out ? --" she said looking at me with curiosity making me gulp .
" ---He was smiling like an ..idiot ! " she looked at me with that questioning look .
I started to squirm in my seat feeling a bit awkward .
She raised an eyebrow asking me to clarify .
Her protective mother instincts are switched on .
" Um.. It was Edward . That store guy who helped me when I passed out . He works at the bar where I go, as a singer..Since it was midnight ..he said he would drop me home ." I said directing my gaze towards my plate .
Silence .
" Hello Ladies . "
We turned our heads to see Nick standing dressed up in his work uniform that is black jeans and red tshirt with a black logo of the store . His hair was all messed up that did look good on him .
We waved our hands at him and he sat beside me with his food .
He looked at us with a questioning gaze .
" What's with the silence girls ? " he asked stuffing some eggs in his mouth.
" Nothing .Just talking about random stuff. " Lin said smiling and I hope that convinced him.
Hopefully it did .
He shook his head and continued stuffing his food.
" Am done . I'll change and come . "
Standing up with my empty plate I put it in dish washer and went upstairs to change into my work uniform that is same as Nick's .
Soon we all got ready and got onto our works in the store .
" Jen . Manager invited us for his daughter's 18th birthday party . He asked if we want to go . What do you think ? You coming or going to bar ? " Nick asked while arranging the groceries .
" You guys should go . We rarely get invited for parties so you guys should go . Don't worry about me I'll be fine . I'll just go to bar just get some drinks and sleep . Okay ? "
They rarely go to any parties and that's because of me . I never attend any and they stay back with me . Its all because of me . This time I won't allow them to stay back , they should get some break on looking after me.
" But Jen-"
" No Nick . You and Lin are going and that's final . " I said picking the rest of the groceries and going to next section so that he won't continue on arguing .
Placing all the groceries I turned back to see two blue orbs staring at my hazel ones .
" Hey " Ed said smiling sheepishly .
" Hey ". I said mirroring his expression .
" So you got any hangover of last night ? " he said scratching back of his neck .
" Nope . Four glasses do me nothing . "
His eyes were lit with amusement and I ignored it with shrug .
After a moment of awkward silence he decided to break it as he spoke that made my eyes widen a bit .
" Umm..What's your favorite song..other than I'll Be ? ".
What ?
Favorite song ?
Why is he asking this just out of the blue ?
" Umm... Its ..umm..Close by Nick Jonas or ...anything else I enjoy every song . " I said ending it with a smile and he smiled back .
I didn't feel like interrogating him with questions that are now forming my mind .
Shaking my head I smiled at him. Again .
" By the way why are you here ? "
" Grocery shopping . "
Oh yea . What else he could do in a grocery store ?
Dumb you . Jen .
" Umm see ya tonight ? " he asked and I nodded with a smile .
Then he turned and went out leaving me in my la la land .
You're going over board Jen .
Turning back to go to my counter I saw Nick staring at me with an unreadable expression but he soon covered it up with smile and walked away .
Strange .

You see am never a girl to dress up or coat my face with make up . Am a girl that wears whatever I feel like to wear . Sweatshirts , hoodies , jeans etc .
So when somebody like me would spend half an hour inside a closet searching for nice clothes is surely a scene to consider .
In my case I really don't know why am dressing up myself but i felt like . Nick and Lin left for party an hour ago and am all alone in this house dressing up to go my usual bar .
After an hour of searching I finally ended up wearing my black skinny jeans , pink tank top , paired it with my denims black jacket and left my hair in loose curls and wore my pink and black converse .
Satisfied with my look , I locked the house and left the key in our usual hidden spot .
My usual hangout spot that's the bar nearby is just a 5 minute walk from my house .
Entering the bar I sat on my usual spot near Lucas . I just know him and some other bar attenders so I just prefer to sit with him than roaming around and getting onto unwanted trouble . I must say he is a good company to spend the night talking . He may be a flirt but not with me . Its not that he is a gentleman , he learned his lesson when he tried to flirt with me first time . I still laugh at that .
" Why are you smiling ? " Lucas asked with an eyebrow raised .
" Thinking about the first time you tried to flirt with me . " I said and he chuckled .
" How can I forget that ? "
We burst out laughing and gained weird stares from others .
Lucas was also like Nick I mean a lot but he had brunette hair with dark brown eyes .He was the one I can rely on like Nick .
" Did I miss anything ? You guys were laughing like maniacs ! "
We turned our heads to see a my other bar attender friend like Lucas .
" Hey Chase ! " I said and gave him a wave.
" Hey beautiful ." he said it with a wink .
" Don't start with that again Chase . You'll regret it . ". I said between my gritted teeth .
He held up his hands in surrender.
" Calm down Jen ! I was just joking . " he chuckled and sat beside me .
I rolled my eyes on that .
" Lame joke Chase . " I said and Lucas burst out laughing .
" Yea. Catch you guys later " Chase said before disappearing into the crowd opposite side from Lucas's counter .
We continued onto our chatting while Lucas served drinks for customers also glaring at those who gave me dirty looks . He takes the place of Nick on protecting me when Nick is not with me.
Suddenly the lights went off and I know its time for Edward to take his place .

I'm so perplexed
With just one breath, I'm locked in
He started and my eyes widened when I recognized it .
" Its ... Its Close by Nick Jonas ! " I exclaimed and Lucas stared at me with a raised eyebrow giving me a questioning look .
Sighing I turned to face him .
" He came to my work place ... I mean to shop and inbetween our conversation he asked which is my ...favorite song and I said Close by Nick Jonas ft. Tove lo . "
When I finished my explanation even his eyes widened for a minute and then he covered it with a crooked smile .
Narrowing my eyes at him I turned to watch Ed . He smiled when our gazes locked onto each other and I mirrored his expression .
I felt a bit .giddy at that moment .

" Looks like someone is going to . " he said I stared at him before turning to follow his gaze which landed on Edward who was walking towards...me .
