[Earl]
I stared at Matthias who was standing in front of me. I almost dropped the book I was holding. “What?”
“Do I have to repeat everything I just said?” He said annoyed and I pouted at him.
“I can’t believe you just invited me to your villa. I have to finish my assignments today so I don’t have time for playing…” I tried to reason but I shuddered when he gave me a dangerous glare.
“If I tell you to come, you’ll come.” He walked towards my cabinet and opened it. He pulled some t-shirts, pants, shorts and some underwear (I have to hide my blush when he held it) and threw it on the bag he was holding.
“W-wait…why’re you packing my things…?” Don’t tell me he’s planning to…
“We’ll stay there for the whole weekend, dumbass.” He hissed.
I knew it.
Matthias continued to pack some more and then looked at me. “We’ll buy the rest on our way. Let’s go.” He grabbed my hands and pulled me away from my bed.
No, my only solace!
“W-wait! I still need to finish my homework…!” I screamed but that didn’t stop him. He kept pulling me out and when we arrived in front of his car, he opened the door, literally threw me and closed it again with a loud slam. I panted from what just happened and glared at him when he entered.
“You do know that this is kidnapping! I’m being taken away against my will and…!” I gasped when he suddenly smacked his lips on mine.
My body tensed for a second until I opened my mouth to let him enter. He licked my tongue before sucking it and I moaned. I want to kiss him back but I don’t know how. Every time we do it, it’s always him who’s taking control of the kiss.
Matthias pulled away, licking his moist lips before smirking. “You really suck in kissing.”
I blushed and covered my mouth with the back of my hand. “I-I’m sorry…I don’t know how to…kiss back.”
He stroked my cheeks. “How about I teach you? I’m pretty good at it.”
Probably…because you kissed a lot of people other than me anyway.
That hurts.
“i***t…” I turned my face away from him. I heard him smile and then he started the engine.
I glanced at Matthias who was driving and smoking at the same time. I insisted to open the windows because I really hated the smell of the cigarette smoke.
I looked out the window and watched the sky slowly moving. I sighed and rubbed my tired eyes. Somehow, I kind of feel a little bit bothered of what I thought last time.
I know Matthias’ a playboy. I always saw him with different kinds of girls when we were still not this close.
He’s the type where he attracts everyone. Popular with the girls, boys and teachers as well.
And I’m the opposite of him. Ever since I was just a kid, nobody wants to be friends with me. I always play alone in the playground while the other kids play among themselves.
I looked at the rear window and observed myself.
I look like a complete dork. Just wearing this thick glasses and having a well-combed hair does make me look like a nerd.
It’s not my fault I like my hair groomed. I really don’t like it when it sticks all over the place. My hair is already a mess because it’s naturally wavy so I spend most of my time combing it.
And my eyes are so bad I can’t see without my glasses. I’m afraid of wearing contact lenses so I gave up on that as well.
What do I have to do so I can fit inside Matthias’ world…?
“What’re you thinking?” I woke up from my thoughts when Matthias suddenly talked.
“Ah nothing much.” I smiled sheepishly. When I saw a mini supermarket, I immediately pointed it. “Hey, can you stop by for a minute? I need to buy some…things.”
Matthias looked irritated nevertheless takes a turn and parked the car in front of the store. We both climbed out as he locked the vehicle and I proceeded to enter the shop.
When I entered, not even the security guard paid any attention to me but when Matthias did, all eyes quickly looked at him. I sighed and ignored them.
I walked towards the bathing section and quickly grabbed some toothpaste, travel-sized toothbrush. Some shampoo because I’m not sure if Matthias is kind enough to lend me some. What else…probably some soap as well, just to be sure.
I passed down the aisle where they sell some vegetables, meats and many more. I bought some as well thinking that we can have some barbeque.
When I finished buying, I went to the cashier to pay it. I saw Matthias waiting near it and I blushed.
Everyone’s literally looking and gawking at him. How could they not? He looks amazingly hot with those white long-sleeves shirt and black scarf hanging loose around his neck. I have to admit, he looks hot in his outfit.
I cleared my throat and proceeded to pay the things I got. Unlike him, I was just wearing a white baggy hooded pullover and some skinny jeans Mr Lee bought me for no good reason.
After buying, Matthias and I went out of the supermarket and walked towards his car. I was waiting for him to enter when I noticed he was looking around the place like he’s finding something.
“What’s the matter?” I asked him.
He kept glancing around. “None of your business.” He replied bitterly. I rolled my eyes at him since I’ve gotten use to his bastard remarks.
I rubbed my stomach when I felt it grumble. Damn, I forgot to eat breakfast because I was so engrossed in reading that pocket book Edward gave me days ago. I ignored it when Matthias finally unlocked the car. I climbed inside and put the plastic bag on the seats behind.
He climbed it as well and started the engine.
“Where’s this villa of yours?” I asked.
“Somewhere.” He shortly answered and I pouted. When will he ever answer me straight to the point? He still hasn’t given me my keys and notebook back.
I blushed in embarrassment when my stomach suddenly groaned out loud. He glanced at me and raised his brows.
“You hungry?” He asked and I grinned.
“That obvious…? Sorry. I’m not that hungry.” I don’t want him to stop over again just because of me. He looks a bit irritated the moment we left the convenience store.
He quickly looked at me and slowly turned left towards McDonalds. My eyes widened when I realized what he was doing.
“But, I just told you I’m not that hungry.” I said and he just continued to park the car. We stopped and he stared at me.
“Shut up. We’re eating and that’s final.” He muttered and I nodded my head in defeat. He got out of the car and I followed him inside.
We sat down on one of the vacant seats and I started to eat the burger Matthias bought me. I looked at him and saw him eating his while looking outside the window.
“Ah, thanks for treating me.” I said a bit shy at what’s happening now.
Matthias glanced at me. “Yeah whatever.” He munched his burger.
“Why’d you suddenly invited me to your villa?” I asked as I crumpled the wrapper and put it beside the tray. Matthias shrugged his shoulders.
“No reason. I just feel like it.” He answered. I should really stop asking him questions since he never answered them correctly.
He threw the wrapper on the tray and quickly gulped his soda. He suddenly stood up and clicked his tongue. “Let’s go.”
I stared at him while I was still holding my soda. “What? Why so suddeeeen…?!” He suddenly grabbed my hands and pulled me out of the fastfood.
When we hit the road, it’s already 1:45 pm. I don’t know where this villa is but I don’t want to ask Matthias any more questions.
I gazed outside and noticed that we’re already outside the city. All I can see were trees and grasses and nothing more.
I quietly peeked at Matthias who was busy driving and smiled when I saw the ring I gave him last Christmas. I was expecting that he won’t wear it but I’m glad that he did. I supposed he doesn’t like to wear fancy rings so he decided to tie it on a silver necklace and hanged it on his neck.
All the rings he wears are always gothic and dark.
One hour passed and we finally arrived in front of a really gigantic white villa. Matthias parked the car beside the villa and I stared at the majestic water fountain in front of the mansion. This is the first time I’ve been on a place like this and it’s making my heart beat in all directions.
I climbed out and breathe the fresh air. There were all kinds of trees surrounding the area. It feels very peaceful and quiet in here.
I followed Matthias who were walking towards the main door of the villa carrying our bags. My eyes twinkled when he finally opened the door. At the side was a long stairs leading to the second floor while the other side was the living room. There was a huge plasma television on the wall and white sofas all over the place. Matthias put the bags down and turned the lights on. It was dim but it gives the right feeling in what seems to be a cozy place.
I walked forward and my eyes looked at the kitchen that was on the right side of the house. There are two other guest room on the first floor and four bedroom upstairs. I ran towards the doors leading outside and gasped when I saw the huge pool.
Everything feels so magnificent, I can’t stand it.
“You liked it?” Matthias asked while standing behind me and leaning on the door. I nodded and continued to admire the view. It was already dark but the lights on the sides of the pool illuminated the whole place making it more fantastic.
“It’s great out here.” I mumbled and smiled at him. “Thanks for bringing me here, Matthias.”
Matthias snorted and closed the gap between us. He was now standing behind me as he rested his chin on my shoulders. “Yeah, you should feel honoured coz we don’t usually allow outsiders here. It’s our family villa.”
I blushed and bit my lips to stop myself from hugging him. “Uh…I should unpack our things…” I said and tried to get away from him. I walked back towards the porch and grabbed our bags though it was heavy and climbed upstairs to put it there.
I entered the room and gasped again. There was a huge bed with a canopy and white silk curtains hanging from each sides of the bed post. The whole floor was covered with white carpet and there was a huge window and a terrace outside. There was also a LED television in front of the bed and gigantic wardrobes pasted on the walls.
I put our bags on the bed and looked at one of the night tables standing beside the bed. I clicked the lamp on and smiled when I saw it was dim again.
I saw Matthias enter the room. He pulled his sweater and left it on the floor before getting on the bed. He sighed comfortably.
“f**k, so tired.” He mumbled and hugged the pillow near him. I sighed as well and took his shoes off and his socks too.
I neatly arranged it below the bed and lay beside him. “It really is amazing here.”
“Really? I think it’s normal.” He said and I gave him a dry look. That’s because you’re so rich a thing like this is normal.
“So…” I tapped my fingers and stared at the ceiling. “What should we do here?” I mentally listed some of the things I want to do once we entered the villa.
My eyes widened when Matthias suddenly got on top off me. “How about I take you now.”
“T-t-take me…?! Take what…?!” He just smirked and held both of my arms and pinned them upwards. “What’re you doing…?!”
Matthias kissed my lips and smiled. “Didn’t I tell you I’ll teach you all the things you need to know in kissing someone?”
I blushed even more when I remembered what he said clear in my mind. “B-but…this position is kind of…” I can’t bring myself to say embarrassing. He’ll just tease me to no end.
He leaned down and nuzzled the crook of my neck. “Hmmm, what about this position?” He asked as his voice began to send shivers down my spine.
I tried to push him back but he held my hands much tighter. “Matthias…”
I shut my eyes and looked away to hide my face. I must look like an i***t right now. I don’t want him to see me like this.
I don’t want him to see how ugly I am.
He stopped moving and I felt his weight away from me. I quickly hid my face with the pillow. We stayed silent for a couple of minutes until I heard him walk away. The door closed and I began to relax.
I lifted the pillow off and looked around the room. It was already dark outside. I want to go out and talk to Matthias but I can’t afford to face him now.
I made him angry again.
Minutes of arguing with myself, I finally got up from the bed and left the bedroom. I slowly climbed down the stairs. I heard someone from the kitchen and I approached the room. I saw Matthias in front of the refrigerator.
He must be hungry. I quietly neared him and cleared my throat to gain his attention. I jolted when he suddenly slammed the door of the fridge.
“S-sorry, Matthias.” I don’t know why but I think I offended him or something.
He stopped walking. “Food.”
I blinked. “Huh?”
“There’s no food inside.” He continued and I nodded.
“O-oh...I bought some.” I shortly said and quickly got the plastic bag that was still on the porch. I ran back at the kitchen laid the ingredients on the counter. “I’ll make us dinner.”
I waited for him to answer but he remained silent. I sighed in defeat and got the utensils from the drawer. I watched him leave the kitchen.
He’s really angry. What should I do? I don’t want to spend my time here with an angry Matthias.
I finished dinner and served the steamed broccoli with garlic, chicken lollipops and seasoned salad on the table. After arranging the plates and everything, I went outside and saw Matthias sitting on one of the deck chairs facing the pool.
“Matthias.” I called out and I saw him smoking cigarette. He put it on the ashtray and looked at me.
“You finished?” He asked as he looked away from my eyes. I felt my heart tightened at what he just did.
I nodded in reply.
We ate in silence, never looking at each other, not even a single word escaped that dinner. When we were finished, Matthias quickly left the room and headed straight upstairs. I gathered the dirty plates and put it on the sink to wash. After it was done, I went to the bedroom to check if he’s sleeping already.
I entered the room and saw him sitting on the bed while talking on the phone. I quietly took off my glasses and watched him from afar to finish his call. When he hanged up the phone, he threw it on the floor and turned around to face me.
I want to ask him what happened but I don’t have the courage to do it anymore. I might only irritate him even more and I don’t want that to happen. I stayed silent and carefully walked towards the bed and sat on it.
Matthias stood up and grabbed his bag. “I’ll be sleeping at the other room.” He said and closed the door.
I stared at the door and tried to push back the tears.
Hours passed and it was already 1:06 am. I shifted and turned but I can’t bring myself to sleep.
I keep asking myself what I’ve done to piss him off. Was it because I’m acting weird today? Or was it because I acted like I don’t want to be here?
What if it’s because I’m me?
I felt my heart tightened again. It’s the first time I’ve been feeling this way. Matthias makes me feel a lot of things I’ve never knew until now.
Gathering all my courage, I stood up and searched for my slippers and quickly went towards the other room.
I stared at the door in front of me, heart beating so fast it feels like it’s gonna jump out of my chest any time. I breathe in and lifted my hands to knock. Hearing nobody answering, I opened the door and saw Matthias already sleeping.
I slowly walked towards him. I was about to touch him when he suddenly spoke.
“Why’re you here?” He asked and I jumped in shock. I rubbed the back of my head and smiled sheepishly.
“N-no…uhm…I…” Hurry Earl! Think of an answer! “Checking up on you!”
Matthias was glaring at me. He turned his back at me. “You don’t have to worry. I’m not that desperate to jump on you while you’re sleeping.”
I flushed at what he said. “No! That’s not what I meant! It’s just that I want to apologize for whatever happened. You’re angry at me and even though I don’t know what the real reason is, I still want to apologize. I’m really sorry, Matthias.”
He grunted and suddenly sprung out of bed, glaring at me. “You f*****g i***t! You don’t even know why I’m angry?!”
I looked at him in fear. He seems angrier at me now! “I-I’m really sorry! I don’t really know!!”
“YOU!! There’s a limitation on how naïve you can be!” He gritted his teeth. He sucked some air before releasing it in frustrated sigh. “Don’t look away like you’re afraid of me.”
I blinked. “Huh?”
“I’m telling you not to look like you’re about to cry when I’m doing something to you!” He now stood up and pointed a finger at me.
What the heck is he talking about…?!
“That time, when I was kissing you back on the other room. You look like you’re about to cry in fear. Don’t. Just, don’t do that.” He whispered his voice calmer and clearer. “I don’t want to see you like that.”
“Matthias…I…” Is he talking about that time when I looked away from him? This i***t…! If he only knew how embarrassed I was that time that I turned my face away from him because I don’t want him to see me like that!
“f**k! What the hell am I even saying?! God, look what you’ve done?! You’re making me say uncool stuffs!” He continued pointing at me.
I grinned at him. “Sorry, I’m taking full responsibility.”
He stared at me before pulling an amused smile. “You better be.”
Morning came and I soon started cooking breakfast. I finished everything quick and called Matthias who was reading a magazine in the living room.
We sat down to eat breakfast when I suddenly asked him what the real reason why he brought me here. And this time, I want to know the answers.
He shrugged his shoulders. “My father’s been pestering me about some things I don’t even want to talk about. That’s why I escaped from the house and went here with you.”
Oh, so he’s escaping from his family problems. It seems pretty complicated so I don’t want to ask any further questions.
After finishing breakfast, Matthias invited me to go to a nearby lake. Instead of bringing the car, we decided to just walk since it’s just footsteps away from us.
I smiled when I saw the clear water of the lake being radiated by the sun. The sunlight was warm and comfortable. I sat down on top of a log placed near the water. I let my feet dangle onto the water and sighed feeling all relaxed and calm.
“It’s been a while since I last saw this view.” Matthias said from behind me. He took a sit while smoking a cigarette yet again.
“Why?” I asked and he just shrugged his shoulders.
“When my mother was still alive, Marge and I often used to come here.” He answered as he blew the smoke.
His mother’s dead as well. I never actually met anyone from his family aside his sister, Marge. I wonder what his father looks like. I can picture him of someone who has an air of intimidation around him.
He smirked and suddenly pulled me out of the log and threw me towards the water. I shrieked when I landed on it and began to panic since I don’t know how to swim.
“W-wait…!” I sputtered. I flail my arms around, nervous that I can’t touch the ground. “M-matthias!!”
“Geez, just hold still.” He said. I saw him took his shirt off and dove towards my direction. He grabbed my waist and supported me so I can lift my head out of the water.
“Do you really have to do that?!” I asked him while wiping the lake water out of my face.
He laughed and nodded. “Yeah, it was fun seeing you drown.” He said sarcastically that I can only glare at him.
Sadistic bastard!
“I really do have to teach you a lot of things.” He said as he tightened his hold on me. He led my arms around his neck like he was carrying me and continued to swim further to the lake.
I smiled when I felt the nervousness out of my system already. How the heck can he do that to me? All he needs to do is hold me and every fear I feel just fades away.
“Aaah, being here really makes me calm.” Matthias said as he closed his eyes. Somehow, I can understand what he was feeling.
He untangled my hands away from but his arms were still supporting my waist so I won’t sink. He turned me around to make me face him. I blushed when I saw his damp hair sticking onto his forehead.
“I’m glad you brought me here.” I said and smiled at him. He just blinked at me and snorted before smiling.
He leaned forward me and kissed me on the forehead. “Yeah, it was worth it.”
Three days passed since that time we went to the villa. Everything was back to normal. Studying, taking exams, and being bullied by some random students from all over the place.
The only thing that changed now is that Matthias always picked me up after class, even going to my classroom and waiting there until I finished everything. It’s not that I’m being bothered by it, but every time he’s with me, I can feel the glares of everyone around us.
How can I blame them, I can’t believe it as well that the Matthias Blaise is spending his time to be with me.
I exited the classroom and saw no Matthias around the corridor. Some guys from my class shoved me away from the door muttering string of curses to my face. I ignored them and took out my phone to see if there’s a message.
I smiled when I saw Matthias’ name on the screen. I read his message.
‘Wait for me outside the club room.’ –Matthias
I quickly trotted towards the gym where the swimming pool was. I passed by some of the girls that usually hangs around Matthias and Harry. As expected, they were glaring at me with hatred. I’m not that naïve to not know why.
I approached the gym and peeked through the windows and saw the club members practicing their styles and strokes. I searched inside and saw Matthias talking to their coach. He was wearing the school swimwear and some goggles were hanging around his neck. I blushed as I stared at his taunting abs. Every girl inside the room is obviously ogling him with lustful eyes and I can’t help but to feel a little bit of jealousy.
If only I knew how to swim, I’ll immediately join the swimming club. But as I’ve said before, I’m not that sporty and although I play a few sometimes, I’m not that good at anything.
That’s why I only belonged to the book club. A club for losers and wimpy kids. Like me.
I shook my head to erase what I just had thought.
Seeing that Matthias was still talking to his coach, I turned my back against the window, slid on the wall and landed on the floor.
I want to be with him all the time, I want to monopolize him. I’ll do everything just to be with him always. But I know I can’t do that.
We don’t belong to the same world. His world’s so bright while I only lived in a world full of depression.
I hugged myself. This anxiousness was slowly killing me from the inside. I can’t stop thinking about our differences, our gaps.
Really…what do I have to do so I can fit inside Matthias’ world?
This question keeps on circling inside my mind.
“What’re you doing there?” I heard Harry’s voice. I looked at him and he was wearing the swimming club jacket with his training bags and all.
I quickly stood up to greet him. It’s been a while since I last saw Harry. “Hi there. I’m waiting for Matthias.”
He gave me a sly smirk. “Oooh, that’s very sweet of you, Earl! I’m so envious!”
I blushed. “N-no…it’s just…uhm…”
“Stop teasing him, little shit.” Matthias appeared behind Harry. He pushed him away and looked at me. “Hey.”
I smiled shyly. “Hi.”
“Oh, so many hearts all over the place!” Harry teased even more. When Matthias glared at him, he immediately shut his mouth. “Oh well, I’ll leave you two love-birds alone! Bye!” He ran off so fast it’s like a blur.
Matthias just clicked his tongue. I stared at him. He was wearing the same thing Harry was but his jacket was loosely hanged around his shoulders. “f**k, I’m so hungry.”
“Oh, let’s go grab some dinner then.” I said and he nodded.
We walked towards the parking lot and I paled when I saw that familiar dangerous motorcycle.
He gave me the extra helmet he has and climbed on as he put his own helmet. I sighed mentally and hopped on, putting my hands on his shoulders for support.
Matthias threw the wrapper of the burrito he was eating and looked at me. “I won’t probably be coming to school for a while.”
I stopped eating the salad I have to look back at him. “What?”
“My old man ordered me again to…fix some things.” He was ordered to assassinate someone again. Guess I can’t do anything about it.
“When will you come back?” I asked.
“Not sure. Three days?” He said and I nodded.
“Okay, be safe, alright?” I said and he raised his brows at me.
“What? Are you worried about me?” He taunted and I flushed.
Isn’t it obvious how worried I am? A lot of things might happen while he’s on a mission assassinating someone. What if he gets hurt or worst, be killed? I don’t know what I’ll do if that happened?
Sensing my distress, Matthias sighed and ruffled my hair. “I’ll come back.”
I nodded and looked up to him and gave him a reassuring smile.
I’ll hold on to those words.
