[Earl]
I smiled at the librarian who greeted me with a nod. I sat down at the one of the chairs and looked around seeing that no one was around.
Okay, don’t tell me I’m the first one here.
Again.
I sighed and put my head down on the table. Every time the president of the book club holds a meeting, only few of the members attend.
Maybe two or three.
They’re not as enthusiastic as the other people from the other clubs just because we actually don’t do anything but read and review books and stuffs like that.
Not that it’s boring for me. I mean, I love reading.
I played with the pen that was lying on the desk and glanced at the wall clock. Already 4:56 pm and still me here. Shaun said that the meeting was supposed to bet at 3 pm.
My ears perked up when I heard the door opened. I quickly looked at the newcomer and saw random students who entered. I pouted and laid my head down again.
Maybe I should just join another club. I want to but I don’t know any clubs who’ll accept me now. They all belong to their distinctive groups and there is no way they’re gonna accept someone like me.
I ruffled my already messy hair. I even forgot to brush it because I was in a hurry to attend the meeting. I stood up, grabbed my bag and exited the library.
“Oh, hey there.” I looked up and saw Shaun who was walking with a blonde girl. “Oh, damn, I forgot the meeting.”
I smiled at him awkwardly. “It’s alright. I suppose we’re all busy.”
Shaun smirked and nodded at the girl who just giggled in reply. “Well, we’re going on a date now and I don’t think I have the time for the club.”
I pursed my lips and nodded. “Okay, I understand.” I stepped aside to let them walk. “See you later then.”
“Yeah, bye!” Shaun walked away, his hands wrapped around the waist of the girl.
I watched them in disappear.
Having a lover must be nice.
“Thank you for coming!” I smiled at the last customer who just went out of the restaurant. I sighed in relief and took out the apron.
“Good job, people.” Mr Lee announced and I smiled at him. Adam walked towards me and tapped my shoulder.
I looked at him. He looked back and started to fidget. “I was thinking that maybe we should hang out sometimes…”
I blinked at him. Is he really asking me to hang out with him?
Like what friends do?
“Are you sure?” I asked. Maybe he’s just pulling my leg or something. After all, Adam never made me feel I belong to his friends list.
He slowly nodded. “Yeah. I don’t have anything to do this Saturday.” He quickly looked at me. “If you have other things to do, it’s perfectly fine for you not to.” He continued to stammer and I just chuckled at his behaviour.
“No, I don’t have any plans this Saturday.” Because Matthias is away and no one even bothers to be with me on the weekends except for him.
“Cool. That’s cool.” We stared at each other for a few more seconds before he puckered his lips and slung his arms behind his head. “Then, I’ll just beep you.”
I smiled. “Okay.” I blinked. “Wait, I don’t have your number.”
He blinked as well and laughed sheepishly. “Yeah, I forgot ’bout that.” He took out his phone in the pockets of his apron and gave it to me. “Here.”
I took the phone and typed my number on it. After saving it, I gave it back to Adam and he beamed at me. “Thanks dude.”
Guess for the first time in my life, I’ll be going out with what they call as a friend.
Just thinking about that made me smile.
“Where are you going?” Edward asked as soon as I came in the kitchen. He was talking to the phone, probably to Harry and was eating some chips from the bar.
“Out with a friend.” I answered and I felt proud to say it. I heard him pause for a while before clearing his throat.
“’kay...” Edward trailed off.
I took the milk carton and drank it before throwing it into the trashcan. I bid farewell to my brother and went out of the house.
While walking towards the terminal, my phone vibrated inside my pockets. I grabbed it and saw Adam’s name flashing on the screen. I smiled and pushed the call button to answer his call.
“Hello?”
“Hey, it’s me, Adam. Where are you?” He asked and I rubbed the back of my hair. Damn, I forgot to comb it and now it’s all messy and wavy again.
“Oh, I’m walking to the terminal.” I said. I heard the sound of the engine. He must be inside his car or something.
“Okay, I’ll go pick you up.” He said and I gasped.
“W-what? No! You don’t need to do that…” I said but he cut me off.
“We’re in the same neighbourhood anyway. Besides, it’ll save us more time.” He reasoned out. I raised my brows. He does have a point.
“Okay. Sorry for the bother.” I mumbled and I heard him smile.
“It’s no bother.”
He hanged up the phone. I quickly trotted to the terminal and waited there for Adam to come pick me up. I sat on one of the chairs and gripped my phone.
Matthias. It’s been three days since I last saw him. I wonder if he’s alright. Every time I think about him, anxiousness takes over. I’ve been forcing myself not to think of bad things that could happen to him.
I looked at my phone and sighed. I did call Matthias but I can never reach him.
I really want to see him, hold him, call his name and…
“Hey.” I gasped and looked at Adam who was standing in front of me. He was wearing a black leather jacket with a white shirt inside and black pants. I have to admit, he looks cool with his usual clothes. I can only see him in either his school uniform or the uniform in the restaurant.
I stood up to greet him. “Good morning.”
“Yeah, ’morning.” He turned around and motioned me to the car parked beside the road. “You ready?”
I smiled and nodded at him. “Of course.”
Adam parked the car and stepped out. I followed shortly and looked around seeing busy people going in and out of the mall.
Oh wow, I’m really doing this. I’m really doing stuffs what teenagers do in weekends. Watch movies, window shopping, karaoke and many more things that I never imagined of doing.
“Hey, come on.” Adam called out as he locked his car before walking to the mall.
I walked beside him, still looking around.
Oh no. Every people we pass by looks at me with weird eyes. What? Do I look funny or something? I looked at my clothes and shrugged. I always wear this type of clothes. Sweatshirt with pants. Not weird, right?
Okay, maybe a little because I’m a nerd. But what can I do? I’m comfortable with these clothes. Besides, I don’t have the money to buy anything right now.
As soon as we entered the mall, Adam stopped walking and looked at me. “You alright?” He asked.
“Hm?” I looked up to meet his gaze. Sensing his worry, I quickly put a smile to hide my anxiousness. “Yes, I’m fine. Thanks.”
“You sure? You look a little pale?” He mentioned leaning a bit close towards me.
“Eh?” I waved my hands at him while chuckling sheepishly. “Yes, I’m sure I’m fine. Sorry to worry you, Adam.”
He twitched for a bit and cleared his throat. “Okay. Good.” He turned his back against me to walk again. “So, what do you want us to do today?”
I thought for a moment. “I don’t know…maybe we could watch a cinema or something.” I panicked when he turned his head to look at me with an amused face. “I mean, if you only want to watch it! I’m fine with anything!”
Adam snorted before bursting into laughter. “You’re funny.” He turned to the right and pointed the cinema with his thumb. “Come on, movies are this way.”
I grinned before running towards him. “Okay!”
“Uh you sure you wanna watch Warm Bodies?” I asked Adam who just finished buying our popcorn and sodas.
“Yeah. Zombies are my thing.” He answered.
“You do know that this movie is romance.” I mumbled and Adam looked back at me.
“What? Don’t I look like the romantic guy?”
I laughed and shook my head. “No. Not really.”
He smiled and clicked his tongue. “That sucks. I’m a man of romance.”
I raised my brows at him, amused at what he was saying. “Really.” I teased him and he just shrugged his shoulders.
He grinned at me. “You’ll see.”
The movie proved itself as one of the best in the theatre. It was funny, had a good plot and good actors and actresses as well. We exited the cinema with the others. I can still hear them talk about the movie.
“Oh God, Nicholas Hoult is like, hot, hot, hot.” One of the girls said to her friends and they squealed.
“I know right! I wish he’ll be my boyfriend. That’ll be so good.” The other one said and that made them all laugh.
“Yeah keep dreaming. You two lives in a different world.”
I stopped walking and stared at their backs.
Matthias.
Why’d he suddenly appeared in my mind again? Oh, because of those girls that mentioned how my relationship with Matthias was.
Thinking about him makes me stress and tired.
Maybe I should really ask Harry how he’s doing.
“Earl?” Adam called out. I glanced at him and smiled shyly.
“Sorry. Just thinking.” I whispered as I caught up to him in walking.
“Oh. Think ’bout what?” He asked putting both his hands inside his pockets.
“Mhmm, a lot of stuffs.” I answered.
He rubbed his chin and smiled at me. “I’ll show you something good.”
“Huh?”
“Oh wow!” I gasped when I saw the clear night sky. “This is awesome!”
Adam stepped out of his car and leaned on the car engine. He crossed his arms and was looking at the same thing. “Yeah, most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”
Adam brought me near the cliffs just outside the city. And I can say I’m not regretting any of this. I smiled and let myself drowned in the marvellous sight above me. The twinkling stars, the sound of the crickets, the howl of the wind. Everything feels so perfect.
“Glad you liked it.” He said and I grinned.
“I love it.”
Adam smiled and chuckled. “Whenever I feel like s**t, I always come here to look at the sky. Been doing this for like my whole life.”
“Oh. So this is your secret place?” I asked.
“Kind of since no one really knows this.” Adam looked at me and smirked. “Well, except you.”
I smiled inside. What is this I’m feeling? Something feels warm and fuzzy.
Oh wow, is this the feeling of what a friend is?
If it is, I’ll never let this go again.
Never.
“And you better keep it a secret. I’ll kill you if you tell anyone.” He threatened in a joking way that made me laugh.
“Yeah, I’ll promise.” I looked up again and pondered. “Hey, why’d you suddenly want to hang out with me?”
He was taken aback with my question. “Ah…uhm…well. We’re practically friends since we work in the same place for years now.”
I shrugged my shoulders. He does have a point. But…I never really thought of Adam being my friend. He’s this type of boy next door that can have any girl chase him. He has good looks, good manners and really nice to everybody.
I lowered my head and sighed. We’ve been working in the same place for a long time but we never did this kind of thing. I assumed to myself that he never wanted to hang out with me because I’m a geek, a nerd.
But I’m wrong. Adam was probably just searching for a good time to finally talk to me and treat me as his equal. Someone who can do something with him.
Yeah. Something like that.
“Adam, thanks. Thanks so much.” I fought back the tears that were already escaping my eyes. If Matthias is here, he’ll probably tease me to death for being such a cry-baby. But what can I do? This is really the first time someone did this to me.
Not my brother, nor my father or anyone beside Matthias.
Oh God, is my life being lifted from the curse you gave me? I’ve been living my whole life cooped up in my room reading tons of books and talking to no one.
I want to socialize with other people but they never gave me the chance to. And because of that, I started to lock myself away from them.
All they did was bully me. Say things that’ll hurt me.
“No sweat dude.” He ruffled my head and sucked in the air. “It’s getting cold. We should probably go back.”
As much as I want to stay, we really can’t. I nodded and slowly walk to the car. Adam stopped and called me.
“We can do this again, you know. Just call me.” He said before entering the car.
A small smile crawled in my face and I nodded.
Monday arrived. Another busy day for a student like me. I walked to the main building, purposely avoiding everyone who passes by me.
I don’t know but I feel so vulnerable right now. Is it because Matthias isn’t here? I can literally feel the daggers people had been throwing at me the moment I entered the building.
Ignore them Earl, ignore them.
I stopped in front of my locker. My eyes widened when I saw it was already opened. The things inside were soaking wet and it was dripping on the floor.
I heard the people giggling behind me. It must be them who did this. I sighed mentally and pulled all the wet books and notebooks out to dry them out.
I closed my locker door and walked to the lawn where I can find a place to dry it. Everyone was still looking at me, whispering to each other and laughing at how pathetic I am.
Ignore them.
I sat down by the stone bench and laid the books directly to the sun. The bell already rang and everyone on the court ran to get to their classes.
I don’t want to attend classes today.
I wiped my eyes and forced myself that it was sweat dripping and not tears.
Matthias. I hate what they’re doing to me.
Where the hell are you?
Please come back.
I want you so bad.
“Earl?” I heard Harry’s voice from behind. As soon as he saw the wet books, he quickly went towards me. “Oh God, what happened?! Are you alright?! Who did this to you?!”
He was shaking my shoulders so hard it made me dizzy. “C-calm down, Harry, I’m alright.”
“You sure? Oh gosh, they’re soaking wet!” He tried to fan the books with his hand. “Tell me who did this!”
I panicked. I don’t want to drag Harry down with my problem. “No! No one did! I just…slipped by the fountain and dropped my books there!”
He eyed me suspiciously before finally believes what I just said. “Come on, I’ll go with you to the rooftop to let it dry.”
“But won’t you miss your class?” I asked watching him picky up the books.
“Geez, do I look like the kind of guy who won’t skip class? Please Earl, you’re making me laugh.” He said sarcastically and I smiled at it.
Once we finished putting the books on the rooftop, Harry accompanied me to get back to my classroom. I really don’t want to attend it but I don’t have any choice. It’ll be a waste if I skip classes because I’m the one paying up for my tuition. And I must say it is hard working for it.
When I entered the room, all eyes were on me. Probably judging me, laughing at me or bringing me down with those stares.
The teacher looked at me. “Mr Harrison. Why’re you late?” He asked. I dug inside my brain to find a good excuse.
“Uh, I…went to the clinic to get some aspirins.” I answered. The teacher glared at me before shaking his head.
Fortunately, class ended fast because there was a faculty meeting.
I quickly arranged my things and was about to step out of the room when Justin stopped me from doing so.
He smirked at me and I cowered in fear. “Hey, wassup, dude?”
I rubbed the back of my neck. I have to get out of here or else…!
“Uh…h-hi.” I greeted not really looking at his eye. I stepped out but blocked me out with his arms making me stumble back to the room.
What do they want now?
“Sorry, but I really have to go now.” I mumbled but Justin pretended not to hear it.
“Hey, I’ve been thinking…that I owe you an apology. Like big time.”
I snapped my head towards him.
“What?”
He tousled his hair and smiled sheepishly at me. “Look, I’m sorry for all that happened last time. I really…it was my mistake for doing that. I’m sorry.” He said and clapped his hands in front of him like he really is apologizing.
Oh wow. Another miracle came. Is this really happening. Oh wait, maybe I’m still dreaming.
Justin, one of the biggest bullies here in school is apologizing to me, Earl, the nerd?
“Uh…it’s no big deal.” I said. Maybe, he really is reconciling with me. I mean, everyone deserves a second chance, right?
“Really? That’s cool, man! I’m so relieved.” He said and tapped my shoulders. “So, now that we’re practically friends now…”
Wait, friends? When did we…?
“I’m just wondering if you want to go to my birthday party.” He finished off.
I blinked. And blinked…and blinked again.
Pause. Rewind.
Someone…is asking me to go to his birthday party.
“Seriously? You want to invite me?” I asked and he nodded.
“Of course. You’ve been doing me a lot of favours and this is small thanks for that, Earl.” He said smiling.
Oh Lord, this is really happening!
For the first time in my life, someone just invited me to his party!
Night came and I quickly back to my room to change my clothes. Justin said that the theme for his birthday party was a mascot party. Although it seems ridiculous, I thought that the theme actually fits him.
I searched for the rabbit costume I have when Ice Cream alley had its costume day. I’m glad Mr Lee agreed on letting me keep the costume.
I slipped in to the furry costume and looked in front of the mirror. Bunny ears, bunny nose, bunny paws and bunny feet. Perfect.
The door opened and I saw Edward looked at me with a horrified expression. I have to hide my laugh at his face.
“What the hell are you wearing?” He asked and I smiled at him.
“Oh this. I’m going to a friend’s party.” I answered. He was still looking at me from top to bottom before shaking his head in disapproval. “God, I have such a weird brother.”
I rolled my eyes at him, pulled my bag from the chair and walked out of my room.
Oh wow, Justin’s house is beautiful. It was small but it’s really modernized. I can hear the music from inside and I felt my heart thump in excitement.
This is it. This is probably my chance to finally find my friends. The friends I’ve been longing for, the friend I’ve been…
I blinked when I entered the house.
They were all wearing bikinis and swim trunks.
For the first time in my life, I actually want to curse.
And here it is.
I’m f****d.
“Oh!! Look who we have here?!” Justin arrived with a soda in his hand. “It’s our mascot!!”
The crowd suddenly burst out in hysterical laughter that made me deaf for a second.
Justin was also laughing, wiping the fake tears of joy in his eyes. “s**t, this is the best birthday gift, Earl Harrison!” He purposely shouted my name and everybody laughed again.
I can feel the blood rushing out of my body.
I know how it feels to actually want the floor to swallow me whole.
My lips were trembling. No, my whole body is trembling with shame.
Shame, fear and betrayal.
I have to go but I can’t move any of the muscle in my body.
“Well, now that our entertainment is here…” Justin harshly pulled me and dragged me towards the pool where everyone in school was practically there.
Another curse. s**t.
“Hey, who’s the freak, dude?!” One of the guys asked and Justin laughed.
“He looks so stupid!!”
My head is spinning and everything turns into a blur.
I want to get out of here.
Like, right now.
Please.
Take me away.
I don’t want to be here.
“Hey, Mr Mascot, will you please entertain us tonight?!” Justin asked and the crowd laughed again. “How about going for a swim?!!”
I closed the door of the house and walked out of the yard.
It’s cold. The whole suit is soaking wet and the cold air is making it worst.
God, I want to die now.
“Earl?”
My ears perked up when I heard that deep familiar voice. I looked up and saw Matthias standing in front of me, a hand holding his phone and a cigarette dangling in his mouth.
“Matth…ias…?” I croaked out. My voice feels so hoarse.
His cigarette dropped to the floor as he slowly walked to me. “What the f**k happened to you?”
“What’re you doing here?” Really, what is he doing here in Justin’s house?
His eyes suddenly turned dangerous and I immediately knew what he’s going to do. I grabbed hold of his arm to prevent him from starting a ruckus inside.
“Don’t!” I shouted but that didn’t faze him.
“I’ll kill them all, I swear I’m gonna kill every one of those fucktards.” He gritted under his teeth.
“Please…Matthias! Don’t go!!” I screamed and hugged him tight. I’m wet and he’s probably gonna be too, but I don’t care.
I need him.
Right here, right now.
“Matthias…” I called out his name all over again.
“Jesus…” He mumbled and hugged me tight. “I left you for like a week and this is what happens.”
I smiled sheepishly. “Yeah, so don’t leave me alone again.”
He loosened his hold and tipped my chin to make me look at him.
God, I miss those dark eyes. Those perfect lips.
Matthias leaned down to kiss me.
And every pain suddenly goes away.
Matthias said that we should stay in a hotel rather than our house. I don’t know why but I don’t care. I just wanna be with him.
I neatly put the bunny costume in the drawer and turned the knob of the shower. The hot water ran through my body and it made me relax.
I tensed when the door opened and Matthias entered.
Matthias hugged me from the behind. I can feel his hard chest and abs pressed against my back and I felt the heat of the water engulfed me.
He kissed the side of my neck and started to run his hands around my chest. He found my n****e and tweaked them making me moan in pleasure.
“M-Matthias…”
“f**k, I so want you right now.” He whispered in my ear. He turned me around and I covered my face when I saw him looking at me with those eyes that can make me melt in no time.
“D-don’t look at me…its embarrassing!” I said and he snorted.
“You’re more embarrassed than this rather than wearing that bunny costume?” He asked.
“This is embarrassing in a totally different level!” I reasoned out.
Matthias rolled his eyes and pushed me on the wall. The water was still running but I really don’t care about it right now.
I gasped when he suddenly gripped my member. He strokes it in a slow and long manner making me want for more.
“Matthias…no…” I bit my lips. He caught my lips again and kissed me roughly. Our tongues dancing around, moving in a way I can’t even remember how.
He sucked my tongue and nibbled my bottom lip before kneeling down in front of me. I grabbed a fistful of his hair and gasped again, this time much louder. I watched him lick my c**k from the head to the balls. He kissed them and I can’t help but breathe out his name.
What am I feeling? It feels so great. It feels so good I’m about to faint.
I gripped his hair harder when he sucked the sensitive head. Oh…fiddlesticks…I don’t know what to do.
My toes were curling in ecstasy.
He took my member in his mouth again, swallowing it whole before bobbing his head and sucking it.
“Matthias…Matthias…I’m…” I shut my eyes and threw my head, my vision becoming white. “Coming…!!”
I felt my release rode me in blissful pleasure.
It’s so good…
I slowly slid down on the floor, panting and wheezing.
Matthias wiped his mouth and smirked.
“Want to do it again?”
I looked at him with a haze eyes.
“Definitely.”
