The Ancient Beast (Adere's Mission)

Chapter 31

In the land of Zinu, the mighty Aboro had decided to send the group of old men and women who were with Rira but then they found out that it was not as they had wanted. A time came when it was actually something that everyone wanted. Rira who had insisted that they were not going to leave had influenced others and they too had decided that they would not be going anywhere. They had also insisted that they would not go anywhere. They said to Rira,

"You know that you are the youngest amongst us, you are like our own daughter and we are like your fathers. It was you whom we did not expect that sent our young men and women away so that you could stand here for us but what I have come to understand also is that there are atimes when things like this would look like they are not supposed to be. You are like our own biological daughter and this means that we are not going to allow you to do that which your mind is telling you to do. Do not even try to make us accept the fact that you are qualified to do this. Have you not heard of how a man died, I heard his name was Adere and he was the father of Adere. Did you not hear of how he died, he was almost out age mates and there is a time when it would seem like there is something more that we are ought to do. You are not going to sacrifice yourself for us, not again, we are not going to allow that, not again, we are not going to allow that. What we have not been able to understand is the truth which is staring at us right into our faces. We are not going to allow things like this to be the reason why things are happening the way that they are happening..What others would term bad we are not seeing it as common. What else are we going to do if not to go ahead and not allow you dive into this that you are desiring to do. What we are saying is that we are all going to stay back here and let the mighty Aboro come for our heads. Yes we are not going to go to anywhere. We are going to stand here. So what we are saying is that we have seen the burden that to are trying to bear alone and we re not going to allow that, we are instead going to ensure that nothing like that happens. So tell us how you expect us to help and we will help at once"

At that moment what Rira could not tell was how she would be able to discuss with the elders in the language that they would be able to understand.

"I know that you all are my fathers and I know too that what you are all willing to do is to make sure that I am well taken good care of. What else am I going to say now except that I wish to have something doing. What others would think of the women of this generation if all we are doing is to take our minds away from the major thing onboard. What else are we going to do if not to allow others to have something against us. We are now aware of this fact and we are not going to allow it. Go on and do what you must and let it be done with. You fathers are re ones that will..."

"That will what? what will we be doing then? You make a mistake daughter. What you should know is that it is you who will do what needs to be done and not the other way round. We are not going to allow these things to happen the way that they are happening. What this means is that it is better you remain alive and be the one that tells the story of how things happened to us elders and not the other way round. Do you understand what we are saying?"

Rira did not want to stress the whole thing. She stood there looking around and ensuring that nothing stopped her from listening to the old men.

"Very well then. I have heard you all. I have heard what you are all saying and I am not going to make it look like there is anything else that will happen without my notice. what else is it going to make me do if not the ones that happen. What else are we going to do except to do what we must. The Aboro that we are talking about came out here a couple of minutes ago and then angrily went back into the room whence he came out from. He is the one that has the key to our freedom, which means that without him there is no way either of us will be leaving here alive. As you can see when you step your eyes out of the room you see what seems like the presence of fire and dust. This whole land has been subjected to ruin and that is just it. What I have also learnt is that there is something going on now which none of us is noticing. As it stands now the man that captured this city is battling with something and it is my duty to find out that which he is battling with. You all are going to have to stand back here and keep waiting patiently while I go back inside that room to have a word with him. I have had this word with him not long ago but as it stands it seems he needs more of words in order to come back to his right senses and if it happens that he regains his senses we are going to be thanking the gods for it" said Rira.

"You are joking now are you not? do you know what it means when you say that he will suddenly begin to change his mind. Do you know that person? It seems you have little or no knowledge of the person that has kept us here. If you have lost that knowledge let me revive your memory; the person seated inside that room is not just a warlord but has been said to have been the one that killed ten warlords in a single fight. You know what it means for someone to answer a warlord, the experience in fighting, the passion and the fearlessness, the skill and the power, yet that man inside there, that man called Aboro single handedly killed ten of them. That day when he did that it was almost like there was nothing else anyone could do about it. Everyone knew at that moment that the man called Aboro is not just a name but is something more than that. This is so and it was almost like there was nothing else that was going to happen. Now is this not the same man that you are saying you would like o go and speak with, so that he changes his mind? To me this words from you sounds funny. I see no way it is going to be possible, what you are saying now so it is better we play along than having ourselves subjected to something that we are not aware of. Have you understood what I am talking about?" asked one of the elders but Rira was not listening to that, instead what she was ready to do was to focus on what she had decided to do and she was not going to allow anyone to distract her. She insisted that she must enter to meet with Aboro inside the room where he was. She then left the men there and went to the room. When she reached the room and knocked she did not hear a response and she stood there thinking so hard. She decided to knock on the door once again and then while she knocked she heard someone walking straight at her and then the door shifted and there standing at the door was Aboro as he kept looking at her face. The way that he was looking at her made to loose balance because she was scared. The man looked at her for a while and then angrily drew her into the room and locked the door.

"I can see that you are insanely insane and I am going to ensure that that which you are looking for you will find it and you will find it in a very hash way. You dared not believe what my eyes have seen but it seems you have come to share those sights with me. Has it not been told before now that you are becoming something that I did not understand? I have told you to go away with the men and women even after having told you that you would not be going anywhere but it seems you like coming back every now and then. Is this what you are looking for, is this what you want? if this is what you want i can surely tell you that you are making a huge mistake. This is why I am telling you now that it is better you stop making me feel like I have to do something to you..If you are certain already that you are not going to make things easy for me then I see no reason why I should be looking at you the way that I am looking at you now. simply turn your back and walk away now. I do not want to do what I would not want to do . You are still a young woman and full of life. I see no reason you should make the mistake that you are trying to make now. I will not say this again, turn your back and move away from this place and while you are moving ensure that you will not then come back. Have I made myself clear?" once he said this the lady shook her head and then said to him,

"I know of who you are. You do not need to tell me of who you are because I am quite aware of who you are What I want you to help me do now is to clearly let me have my way with what brought me here. What you should be aware of is the fact that despite the fact that I am not here to make you feel angry what i might end up saying might get you angry. You know who you are and I know who you are. Before now your fame had reached this land of Zinu and so when we heard that you were coming we did not think twice before deciding to escape. We escaped knowing fully well that if we did not we would be staying back here at our own peril. We are here now and you have met us here but you have not been pleased with us and that is why you decided to free us. One thing that I have not understood is your ability to do what you are doing now. You simply decided to do this and set us free but I have been wondering get and all of us have been wondering all these while what might have made you to change your mind about killing us. Have you not seen that it is not always as you see it that others see it. This question ringing in my head was actually what brought me back and i told the rest with me that I must know why you have decided to free us after deciding to have us killed"
