Chapter 14

1602 Words
The words of Edu's father actually got to him because he had actually seen how engrossed that Adere was in making sure that him, his mother and the rest that he came out of the land of Zinu with were save. He knew that he would do anything to keep them alive for if he did not abandon them during the time that they were in the mouth of the cruel lion Aboro then they would do anything to have him; Adere remain their voice. Edu then spoke to his father, "Father, even the Zinu people would not deny the fact that they have in one way or the other heard about the whole thing but what matters most is that the issue that the Abah people are trying to put to rest is an issue that affects the entire world. if I was to be Adere then I would listen to the voice of reason and do what needs to be done in order to make things right. I will go in search of him father and all I need from you is your blessings" Edu knelt before the father and the father for the first time just realised how it is with them. He knew that his son was making the right decision and he did not want to make it look the way that it was already. He needed to support his son even if it was this last time. He held his head with both hands and began to pray for him. As he wished him well Edu was nodding his head in response. *** In the forest where Adere, with Renu and the rest found themselves having ran away from the place that they pushed Edu to the ground they continued to pant like dogs. Renu then spoke; "I saw them..." Adere turned to her and asked, "You saw what?" he was forced to ask. "I saw the watchers of Abah. When the wind came they appeared next. I saw them and I am sure and certain of what I am talking about. I still can not believe my eyes but i know what I saw and what I saw was clear. I saw the watchers of Abah or do you not believe me?" she was actually asking the one standing before her when Adere decided to help her, "You need to calm down you know. If you say that you saw them we are not doubting you. Listen, we know that we left my mother and the rest at the place where we were attempting to erect a tent but as it is now it is obvious that things like this are happening because of what has happened in the past. Let us find our way back to the place where they were before we encountered what made us to run" They all decided to find their way back to the place where they had attempted to build a camp. Finally they were able to locate there but upon arriving there they discovered that actually the people were no longer there. This troubled Adere greatly and he decided that it would be better to have the remaining group look for the rest throughout the whole forest and they began to search. Where Adere's mother was with the rest she was seated near the same sick lady that gave her some prophetic revelation right before she fell sick. The rest were busy discussing when Adere's mother noticed that the lady had opened her eyes. She wanted to privately discuss with her without letting others to know that she was talking to her. "Young lady there is a word you said to me not long ago. I am not sure if you understand what it means to have what it takes but then things like this do not make any sense if you do not tell me what it is that I am so eager to know. There were words you said to me right before you fell sick, I would like to hear those words again and this time around I would want you to be more open to me" The lady kept looking at her and there was confusion in her eyes. It seemed like what Adere's mother was saying was strange to her and she did not know what to answer her. Adere's mother could read the confusion in her face and so she went on, "Don't you understand what I am saying or you are trying to keep waiting for me to keep saying what I am saying? I said that I would like to hear what you said to me before and I know that despite the fact that you would want to tell me exactly what I want to know you will make it very plain for me to be able to grasp it. Do you understand what I am saying now?" The lady who appeared confused kept mute until the woman asked of her name and she answered. Her name was actually Mori and she was well known to be the voice the gods used to convey messages. Mori herself was always overpowered by the fact that she could not tell what happens to her whenever she is faced with a problem that is bigger than her. It is also noted that despite the fact that there are those that are not in good terms with others it would show in their eyes. The lady kept looking at Adere's mother and Adere's mother did not need anyone to actually tell her that Mori was not herself, or was not in control of herself when she faced Adere's mother at the camp and spoke the words that she spoke there. Adere's mother then noticing her confusion then said to her, "I can understand that probably you no longer remember of how things happened. You simply do not understand how things happened and it is always a thing of what happens or what did not happen. You know quite alright that I am not going to allow things like this to function the way that they are not supposed to function but let it be the way that it is supposed to be. I have grown so tired of letting men and women to come to me asking about my son and I have nothing to tell them. My daughter, you are special, Mori you have something in your that most people would seek to have. You are special my daughter and that is what I can tell you" The mother to Adere stood up and walked away from her. The lady rose and sat were she had been laying down. One of the elders that were with Adere's mother came to her and asked; ."Are you okay?" Mori looked at him and nodded her head. "That is great to know. You remember anything that happened before now?" he asked further but Mori did not know where he was driving at. Adere's mother came to the man and asked him not to continue to question her for she herself could not understand how the lady was able to forget everything that happened to them and especially what she said to her. That night they made fire with two stones and some dried leafs. They kindled the fire with firewoods and sat round it. If was Mori who first spoke after they had sat round it. "This fire is not good that it is burning, this fire can end up attracting the wild beasts in this forest" said Mori. "As long as it does not attract the ancient beast in the land of Abah we are good to go" said another before he laughed. "That is not funny" said Adere's mother. We should hope that the fire would attract something positive, like my son with Renu and the rest they went to get the things necessary for building a tent not being negative. We have to do what needs to be done please" At that moment Mori was quite and Adere's mother noticed it. She held her hand and realised that her hand had gone so cold. She touched her mother and her body temperature was normal. She touched her hand again and the hand was normal too. She sighed and asked the man that joked about the strange beast that had lived amongst men for thousands of years not to continue with the joke. The man kept mute and stayed there for sometimes. He was not sure if there was anything that needed to be done but then there was something that needed to be done and there was no two ways about it. Adere's mother stood up and left them seated round the fire and went to stood a bit far from them. The moon was shining that night and she was not ready to loose a thought about her son whom she was so desiring to see again. She said to hers, "If I am given any reason to continue with this life I would think that I had begun just now, what my eyes have seen is enough to make anyone go mad but here I am still living amongst the living and hoping that a time will come when things will no longer be as they were. Ofcouse I know quite alright that things will change, the question is how are things going to change, who is going to make them change?" She sat right there, crossing her knees with both hands and thinking louder and louder that night.
