The legend of the Luna Queen

Aurora woke with a start, her legs and arms all of a sudden sparkling and tingling, when a bright light suddenly swept over her entire body. This wasn’t new every morning at 7am this has been my new ritual, to say I was worried was an understatement, I was an element witch we were very rare and only 10 existed in the entire world, I could use the elements to my advantage, anything connected to the earth was part of me. my aunt did her best to teach me but not being a witch herself made it difficult. My aunt was werewolf she raised me after my parents died no one knows what happened to them just that one day they were gone and I was left behind. This morning something was different, I felt a humming sensation running down my spine and through my whole body not just the unusual glow like every other day but more intense more bright. I jumped up and ran to the mirror and what I saw made my jaw drop! I was literally glowing! What I’m the world?! I screamed loud enough for my aunt to burst through the door, Aunt Millie!!! What is wrong with me!? I look like a god damn spot light! TURN IT OFF aunt millie yelled at me, I started to panic I never had to try to stop myself from GLOWING!? What on earth is happening I asked her, she just stared at me with a huge smirk on her face , why are you looking at me like that auntie I say looking at her like a fish out of water, she then turned away and motioned me to follow. We entered the secret library under our cottage and she started pulling old tattered books from different shelves all around us, millie are you going to tell me what is going on or just keep giving me the silent treatment. She turned and gave me a wink ENOUGH Aunt Millie!!!!! Just tell me what’s wrong with me and how to make it go away! Finally she grabbed a locket hidden in one of the books and went to the table grinding up herbs, flowers and oils she poured the contents inside the locket, closed it and whispered a spell I hadn’t learned yet. Then she turned to look at me, Aurora put this on it will protect you, hide your power, and also make it difficult for other witches to listen in on our conversation. I looked at her worried and eager to know what she was talking about, alright Auntie are you going to explain why your looking at me like I’m a golden goose!? She giggled and grabbed my hands, oh darling I can’t believe this is finally happening! I’ve waited 18 years to see if the legends your mother used to babble about were actually true and looking at you now I know they are. Ok Aunt Millie your really starting to seem crazy so just spit it out! A long time ago the moon goddess blessed a pack of wolfs with the light of the moon, she blessed each wolf with her own light and each wolf manifested powers that would provide, and protect their pack these were not just werewolves but elemental witches as well. I looked at her dumb founded and she just laughed and continued, among the wolves there was one in particular who was blessed with all of these light powers combined her name was Aurora and I blushed knowing her name matched my own, my aunt continued, she was the Luna, not just any Luna but the queen of all Lunas. Her powers and kindness made her the strongest being in the world being both witch and wolf her very existence was a danger to not just her but everyone around her. Aurora had to be protected and hidden until she was blessed with her mate, once marked she would come into her full powers and no living thing would be able to harm her but before her mate had the chance to mark her as his she was taken never to be seen again. I gasped and for some reason felt a cold shiver shoot through me, I looked at my aunt smilingly stupidly and she said Aurora you don’t just have her name you Carry her powers the Luna Aurora was your great grandmother my sweet niece. I just stared at her silent and completely confused. But aunt Millie I’m not a wolf how can I have all her powers, this is a mistake the moon goddess wouldn’t bless me I’m just a little witch! I’m nothing special, that’s where your wrong Aroura, your mother and I surpressed your wolf the day you were born, we knew that other witches and wolves would be waiting for your birth, waiting to feel the burst of power that you would bring into this world. Sweetheart it’s time I tell you about the day you were born and what happened to your parents I just looked at her terrified and she pulled me to the couch and held my hands in hers, Aurora I need you to listen and wait until the end before you say anything it’s very important it could save your life. I nodded and she began. It was January 10th 18 years ago today, it was the coldest day we had had in over 100 years and I could tell your mother was on edge everyone was you were close to being born and your mother and father knew they would have to say goodbye to you once the day came unfortunately they had no idea how close that day really was, that night at 11pm your mother went into labor your father began putting up protection charms he was the most talented warlock at the time and your mother was a wolf born of royal blood being a direct descendant of the moon goddess herself. they knew of the legend and that you would be blessed with queen auroras powers being born of the purest witch line and the moon goddesses wolf blood you would be sought out and taken so they had a plan to protect you, your mother and father drained themselves of their powers and gave them to you suppressing your werewolf side and giving you, your father’s elemental witch power this would hide your sent and protect you from evil spirits who just wanted to use you for their own selfish desires, Aurora your wolf is surfacing that is why your body is glowing like the moon your powers are finally manifesting and that is why you need to take this necklace and run never take it off your mother gave it to me and told me to give it to you on your 18th birthday along with instructions on what you need to do, your mother was from a wolf pack in the mountains called white moon, the same pack Queen Aurora was from they will welcome you with open arms and protect you from the same darkness that took queen Aurora. I didn’t know what to say and aunt Millie gave me no time to process she grabbed a bag and told me to run, to flee my home and run straight into pack lands of the largest pack in the world, WHAT IS HAPPENING! She kissed my cheek pushed me out and closed the door. I just stood there for a moment until I heard a voice, Run sweet Aurora our lives depended on it.
