More Lies

If I didn’t already know that Enzo and Mira had s*x, I sure would have the next morning.
They were all over each other, it was kind of disgusting. I made sure to keep my distance. It’s not that I was mad at them, but I was kind of disappointed they didn’t trust my judgment. Of course I had to remember that I didn’t actually have any s****l experience, so what did my judgment actually even mean?
I avoided eye contact and conversation with the both of them all morning while we ate and packed up. I simply had no interest in discussing what I had witnessed the night before.
“Celine, I have something to tell you!” Mira whispered when we started walking.
I couldn't avoid her anymore. Grey and Enzo were discussing strategy.
“What’s up?” I forced a smile to my face.
“Enzo and I made love last night,” She said dreamily. “It was perfect.”
“That’s so good to hear. I’m happy for you two.”
“You don’t want to know any details?”
“No, that’s okay. It’s…it’s none of my business. I’m sure you want to keep intimate parts of your relationship more secret.” I stated.
“But I need someone to gossip with about sex.” Mira giggled.
“I don’t know anything about s*x remember? Maybe Irene would be good to talk to.”
“But…you’re my best friend, Celine. I want to talk to you.”
Suddenly I felt guilty. My friend was excited about something and I should be supportive of her.
“Tell me everything.” I smiled slightly.
“Oh my god, Celine, Enzo is so good! His hands are insane and his tongue is incredible!”
“That’s great!”
“It was almost perfect.”
“Almost?” I asked.
“He wouldn’t look at me while we did it. His eyes were shut.”
“Oh…well maybe he was taken over by pleasure or something? So much he had to close his eyes.”
“Oh, I guess I didn’t think about it like that,” Mira smiled slightly. “I mean he really was into it, Celine. First he went down on me for like a minute and then he stopped and then started again, it was like he was teasing me.”
Or he was thinking about what I said about him not properly pleasuring women. I guess I should be glad he made an effort with Mira. That he was actually listening and learning and growing.
Instead I felt uncomfortable knowing such intimate details.
“And then Celine, when he was in me I thought I was going to die! He’s so big!”
“That I know,” I said.
“What? How do you know that? I thought you two never slept together.”
Oh crap!
“There was a um…mishap once with a towel.” I winced.
“I see. Enzo seems so comfortable around you Celine, why is that?” Mira questioned.
“We’re kind of best friends.”
“But you haven’t known him very long. You just showed up to our pack and suddenly you were like his best friend, why is that?”
“Look, Enzo and I are kind of old friends, okay?” I asked. “That’s why we know so much about each other and are so close. That’s all it is.”
“Okay.” Mira muttered. “Well, we had a wonderful night last night. I assume we’ll do it again tonight.”
“Well we should be at the Bonepikes by then so you’ll get to do it in a bed.”
“Did you and Grey get up to anything last night?”
“We cuddled,” I offered.
“Nice. He’s so hot, Celine, you have to go for him.” Mira smiled. “Then we can both be in love at the same time.”
“You think that Grey could love me?” I asked.
“Why wouldn’t he? You’re beautiful, charming and funny. Grey would be lucky to have you.”
“Enzo is lucky to have you.”
“Can you remind him of that?”
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“You know how Enzo can get a little distracted sometimes, so just remind him that he and I are good together.” Mira stated.
“I can definitely do that.”
“You’re such a good friend, Celine. To me and to Enzo. We’re lucky to have you.”
“Thanks Mira. I strive to be a good friend.”

I think Enzo had caught onto my avoidance.
“Is everything okay, Celine?” He asked during a break.
“Sure. Is everything okay with you?”
“It’s okay.”
“How was your night?” I questioned.
“Just fine,” Enzo said. “How was your night with Grey?”
“Not as…eventful as your night with Mira.”
“What do you mean? All we did was sleep.”
I just stared at him. I couldn't believe he would lie to me. We said no more lies and now he was doing it right to my face.
“Enzo, I saw you and Mira last night. I was the twig snap.”
I was shocked to see Enzo so nervous. “Celine, you misunderstood, we were just making out.”
My fist clenched up and I almost punched him. I hadn’t ever been so angry.
“You remember how we were saying how well we know each other yesterday?” I asked.
“Of course, because we’re best friends.” Enzo smiled.
“Yeah, I know you so well, I’m more than aware of when you’re lying to me.”
“I don’t know what you mean-”
“Mira already told me what you two did, Enzo.”
His eyes shut and he ran his fingers through his hair. “f**k…I didn’t…w-we said we wouldn’t tell anyone and-”
“I’m just anyone now?” I questioned. “Enzo, you said no more lies, you said we’re best friends and we know each other.”
“That’s true.”
“No, it’s not! You lied right to my face! Like I said yesterday, I don’t know you at all! You won’t tell me what happened with Alpha Rafe and now you’re just lying to me! Best friends don’t lie!”
“Um, is everything okay?” Grey walked up to us.
I forced a smile to my face. “I missed you Grey. You’ll walk with me right?”
“Of course I will. I missed you too.” Grey grinned before taking my hand.
I let him pull me away from Enzo and his lies.
“Were you two arguing?” Grey whispered.
“A little bit.”
“But you never argue.”
“Enzo lied to me and I don’t like it.” I muttered. “A-and it wasn't a good lie, like to protect me it was just…a lie!”
“What about?”
“I um…I don’t want to talk about it. I had another dream about Sela last night.”
“What happened?” Grey questioned.
“She’s falling in love with a guy named Lev.”
“That’s good right?”
“Yeah, really good. It seems like everyone is falling in love around me.” I sighed.
“What’s wrong?”
“I think I’m never going to be in love, Grey. No one is going to look at me the way Enzo and Mira look at each other. A-and no one is going to kiss me the way Lev kisses Sela. No one will adore me the way Paz does Irene. I’m always going to be alone.”
“Celine, come on. You could fall in love.”
“With who?” I challenged.
“Me.” Grey blurted out.
“You think you could love me?”
“You’re the most incredible woman I have ever met in the world, Celine. I know we haven’t had a first date or kiss or anything, but I think given the opportunity we could have something great.”
I smiled. “Grey, I just…I don’t know how long I’m gonna be around.”
“What do you mean?”
“Um…nothing. It’s just that life is unpredictable.”
“Then we should make the most of it.” Grey smiled back at me.
I leaned my head on his shoulder as continued walking. I saw Enzo glance over his shoulder at us. He frowned before turning back around.
We heard a loud snapping noise and looked around wildly.
“Stay close!” Enzo commanded. “Protect Celine.”
I clung to Grey’s arm.
“You’re okay. I’ll keep you safe.” Grey whispered.
We heard another snap from a different direction.
“Run!” Enzo shouted.
Grey pulled me with him quickly. He was a much faster runner than I was, so I felt like I was stumbling to keep up with him, but I kept going.
“We’re almost to the Bonepikes!” Grey assured me. “Once we cross their forcefield, we’ll be safe.”
We had surpassed Enzo at this point and were running faster than everyone else.
I heard Enzo cry out and turned around. Something had tackled him to the ground. It looked like a Hellion.
“Enzo!” I ripped my arm out of Grey’s grip and ran over to him.
“Celine just go!” Enzo urged as he fought off the Hellion. “I got this, just get to the forcefield.”
As I was conjuring up Forget Me Dust, arms wrapped around my waist and lifted me up.
“Wait!” I cried out.
“Grey, get her out of here now!” Enzo shouted. “That’s a direct order, get her to the forcefield.”
“Enzo no!” I screamed as Grey carried me away.
I tried to fight him but he was much stronger than I was.
“We have to go back!” I declared.
“We can’t Celine, he gave me a direct order, I have to keep you safe! We’re just a few feet away!”
I could feel it when we got past the forcefield. There was a strange vibration and Grey tripped, causing us to hurl to the ground.
I winced as I opened my eyes and saw myself surrounded by very tall creatures with skulls over their faces.
