Blurb

I abruptly pulled away from Enzo. “You are a vulgar werewolf. You need to fix that if someone is going to fall in love with you!”

“No, I don’t.”

“And why not?”

“I’m the Alpha, Celine.”

“So what?”

“I don’t change for anyone. They change for me. That’s the first rule you need to know if you want me to fall in love.” Enzo whispered.

“Yeah and what’s the second?” I challenged.

“I always get what I want…and I won't accept anything less than that.”

“Neither will I.”

He grinned. "This is going to be a nightmare, isn't it?"

The ruthless Alpha Enzo is on his sixth mate, having rejected all those who came before. Coupled with ridiculously high standards and a cruel disposition he's sure no woman will ever be good enough for him. Celine is Enzo's guardian angel hoping to trade her black wings in for white ones, but the only way she can do that is if Enzo has a change of heart and falls in love.

With the threat of being stripped of her wings altogether, Celine is sent to Enzo to attempt to aid him in falling in love, at any cost. Celine quickly realizes just how difficult Enzo is and fears he will never feel love for another person. Enzo can't help the instant connection he feels for Celine, while Celine finds herself falling for her charge. Both must put their attraction aside to focus on an Alpha that Enzo has a complicated past with who is dead set on killing him.

Celine
The strangest part of my job was watching people have s*x. Well, most notably my charge, Enzo, Alpha of the Bloodrose Banes. He did this quite a lot. It’s kind of what he’s known for among my angelic peers. I wondered what s*x was like. I had never had it before. Or I didn’t think I had. I didn’t remember much of my life before becoming a guardian angel. What I did know was that I never wanted to be mortal again. Being an angel was much more fulfilling.  “So?” Ariel asked, hovering next to me at the portal. “That’s his new mate?” “His sixth one,” I sighed. “But I have a great feeling about this one. I’m sure I’ll get my white wings this time.” I was one of three angels in the Astral Region of The Cosmic Sanctum that didn’t at least have white wings. I couldn’t ascend to white wings until Alpha Enzo found a mate and fell in love. Every other color had been easy to obtain.  I started off with grey wings and ascended to orange then to blue, from there green to yellow and now I was on black. I had helped all of my charges with their endeavors with great success before getting assigned to Enzo.  He was a difficult man. The Archangels kept sending him mates and each one he would sleep with and then reject them, no matter what I did. I made them appealing, smart and even submissive. But Enzo rejected them for the most insane reasons: not short enough, rough hands, sneezes too loudly, snorts when they giggle, ungodly cold feet. His words, not mine. The first sign of a flaw and he turned cold and cruel. And yet I believed he could find love. Or at least hoped he would so that I could go to my next charge.  “Why do you get such a hot charge, Celine?” Ariel asked, zooming in on the couple in the bed so that she could see Enzo’s back muscles as he moved on top of the girl. “I have some annoying fourteen year old nymph.” “A fourteen year old nymph is leagues better than Alpha Enzo,” I assured her. I of course thought Enzo was attractive too. He had flawless dark hair that hung over his forehead but in a purposeful way, and sometimes covered his stunning amber eyes. He was blessed with a perfect pointed nose, along with a tenacious jawline. His light topaz skin seemed to sparkle in the sunlight and his body was immaculate. Muscular toned abs like a washboard.  He was the epitome of an Alpha.  However, his personality was not always attractive, with his foul language and harsh words. His sentiments could cut like the sharpest of knives.  The woman under Enzo was moaning loudly now as he moved faster on top of her. This was it, the grand finale. After this Enzo would accept her as his mate and I would finally get my white wings. I would be three charges away from the coveted red wings! Red wings meant you got to choose your charges. It was one of the highest honors a guardian angel could receive. Enzo groaned loudly as he reached his peak, before rolling off of the girl. He looked more satisfied than he ever had. Yeah this was going to work out. My stomach dropped as the girl reached over to cuddle Enzo. Oh no. Enzo looked visibly disgusted before pushing her off him and slipping out of the bed. I closed my eyes like always. It felt wrong to look at my charge naked even if he was as appealing as Enzo. I opened my eyes when I sensed that he was covered up. “Where are you going baby?” The girl practically cooed.  Big mistake.  “This isn’t going to work,” Enzo informed her. “What do you mean?” “You’re clingy, you bite your nails, and I don’t like your nose. I cannot claim you as my mate.” “But we just had s*x!” She exclaimed. “Pretty mediocre s*x,” Enzo sneered. “I, Alpha Enzo Laguardio, reject Allison Swanson as my mate.” I sighed as I watched Allison physically recoil from their bond being broken.  The breaking of the mate bond no longer hurt Enzo. After five times, he was used to the pain.  “Now, get out of my bed,” Enzo said coldly. “I have to get up early for a pack meeting.” Allison practically whimpered before getting dressed and leaving.  I watched as Enzo looked in the mirror. He looked so pleased with himself! He flexed his muscles before going into the bathroom. I groaned and closed the portal. I couldn’t believe this! At this rate I would never ascend! Ariel winced, her deep brown eyes looking at me with sympathy. She pulled me into a hug. As always her dark brown hair smelled like strawberries. Her white wings encompassed me for a moment before we pulled away. “I’m so sorry, Celine. Maybe you could ask for a new charge?” Ariel asked hopefully.  “No, I can do this! Enzo just…ugh I don’t know, but I can make this happen!” “Enzo is hopeless and he’s ruining your flawless record. You wanna be stuck with black wings forever?” “No but-” “Then ditch the werewolf. Seriously, Celine. Can I use the portal now?”  “Yeah of course.” I flew away to the main part of the building. I could use some apple coffee after that. I entered our lounge room and was relieved to see it was empty. I was not in the mood to once again be shamed for my failure.  I had only been there for a few moments when I heard someone approaching.  “Hey Celine,” Sander smirked, his gold wings lightly fluttering.  I was so jealous of him. He was two charges from his red wings and so darn smug about it.  “Hi, Sander,” I muttered.  “Heard things went poorly with that werewolf charge of yours. Another mate rejected, that’s too bad. I thought you were a better angel than this, dear.” I glared up at Sander. While he was very good looking on the outside, he had a horrible personality for an angel. Sure his bright blue eyes were alluring, but then he would use them to squint at you and make you feel idiotic. His brown hair was flawless, but he ran his fingers through it before administering the most horrid insults. His smile was insanely perfect, but his lips easily twisted to filter out nasty words.  He acted more like a sentinel demon than a guardian angel. I was shocked he wasn’t the very thing stopping charges from succeeding in their endeavors. It would be more fitting if he was the demon on mortal’s shoulders telling them things that would lead to their downfall. I pursed my lips. “I don’t have time for you today, Sander,” “Right because you need to try to get a new mate for your charge. Why don’t you just give up? Black wings look lovely on you anyways.” “You know what-” “Or keep trying, didn’t mean to ruffle your wings,” Sander chuckled. “I just got a new charge, I should go check on him. See you, Celine.” He blew me a kiss before he flew away, leaving gold sparkles behind him. They looked much better than black sparkles that fell from my wings. I felt a shiver through my body. Oh no, I was being summoned.  The Archangels wanted to see me. In an instant I was emitted from my seat and in front of them. I felt my wings droop as I noticed the disappointment on their faces. Even while being terrified, I couldn’t help but admire their stunning lavender wings. To obtain those you basically had to save the world. I knew I would never achieve such a feat, but an angel could dream, right? “Celine,” Archangel Aergos started. “Your charge has rejected his mate….again.” “Um, I know. But she was very clingy, if we’re being honest.” “Are you saying we sent him an inferior mate? Is it not your job to make him fall in love?” “No, you picked a wonderful mate. I um I tried! I’m sorry Archangel Aergos!” I exclaimed. “It’s just…Alpha Enzo can be very testy…and picky.” “We gave you this charge a year and a half ago, Celine. You promised you could handle it and you haven’t, we’re very disappointed in you.” Archangel Tiassa shook her head. “You were on the fast track to red wings. This was a test and you’ve failed horrendously.” “I’m sorry,” I whispered. “I will do better.” “Celine there is no doing better,” Archangel Aergos stated.  “Meaning?” “I’m sorry, Celine but you’ve failed your duties as a guardian angel. We have no choice but to strip you of your wings. You are being damned to The Infernal Planes.” I gasped. “You’re sending me to hell?”
