The Bloodrose Banes were shaken.
With the new alliance with the Bonepikes and the threat of Hellions there was more going on in this pack than there had been since Enzo’s father was in charge.
At least that’s what all the whisperings say, I don’t know for myself. I wish I knew more about Enzo's past so that I could help him with his future. What were his father and mother like before things went badly? What was Enzo like? No way he was always this grumpy and mean. Didn't he laugh before when not saying something vulgar?
Enzo was kind of a mystery, but one I was determined to solve if it was the last thing I did.
I sat at the long table in front of the pack with everyone else who held some kind of title. I was on the left side of Enzo while Grey was on the right side.
Enzo cleared his throat as he stood up. “I know we’re all a little stressed from yesterday’s attack, but don’t worry, I have a plan. Seeing as it is clearly dangerous to travel from here to the Bonepikes, I will be putting together a special team to train and then we’re going to venture to them ourselves.”
“Alpha Enzo, how do you expect to go up against the Hellions and the ones they’ve cursed?” Luc questioned.
“Celine will help us with that. She has information that we don't know about all of this. Right Celine?”
“Yes, of course Alpha Enzo.”
That wasn’t entirely true, but as an angel, I did have knowledge about quite a lot of creatures.
“Great,” He nodded. “So on the special team will be myself, Beta Grey, Luc, Dom, Paz, Irene, Celine and…”
“Pst!” I hissed. Enzo looked over at me. “Mira.” I mouthed.
“Seriously?” He mouthed back. I raised my eyebrows. “Um and Mira.”
I saw her light up and smile. This would be perfect!
We would prepare for the Hellions and Enzo and Mira would fall in love and then I would be on my merry way. It wouldn’t be easy, considering Enzo’s attitude problem, but I would do my best.
“And what are the rest of us supposed to do, Alpha Enzo?” A pack member asked.
“Continue the training you’ve been doing and be vigilant. More instructions will come when we get closer to going to the Bonepikes. The seven people I just listed stay here and the rest of you go, we have much to discuss.”
Slowly everyone filtered out of the meeting room, with the girls who had been mean to me glaring at me. I tried to help them out, but they didn’t want it and now they didn’t get to be around Enzo like Mira did.
Finally it was just the eight of us.
“I picked you seven because you’re the best of this pack,” Enzo started. “If you disappoint me I’ll kill you.”
I hoped that didn’t pertain to me. I mean I wasn’t a real werewolf! It was like Enzo read my mind.
“Little reminder, Celine is weird and doesn’t have a wolf so make sure she is covered at all times so she doesn’t die. I don’t want her death on my conscience, I don’t have time for that.”
“Thank you, Alpha Enzo, I appreciate that,” I spoke up.
“I’m sure you do, now please explain more about the Hellions and how you defeated the man who was cursed.”
Enzo grabbed my arm and pulled me up.
“Um, so the pack that I came from also dealt in witchery. I have this dust called ‘forget me’ dust and it seems when used on a cursed one it destroys them.”
“Can we not save them?” Paz asked. “Is that possible?”
“Um, I’m not sure, honestly. Hellions are so powerful and their curses are considered irreversible. That doesn’t exactly mean that they are, but…so far no one has figured out how to undo them. Everyone who has ever been cursed has either turned into a Hellion themselves or succumbed to the venom that comes with being a Hellion.”
“Or have been killed by Celine,” Grey piped up.
“Bad ass.” Irene commented.
“I guess I could look into any spells or witchery that could maybe separate the curse from a person without killing them,” I offered. “Do you guys have a library or something?”
“Of course we do,” Enzo stated. “We’ll work on that later, fighting comes first.”
“Oh I’m a pacifist, I don’t fight.” I stated.
“You’re gonna have to get over that, Celine. You can’t not have a wolf and not know how to fight, that’s too many struggles.” He frowned.
I sighed, but understood. If I was going to make Mira and Enzo fall in love I had to be on the special team, which meant I had to fight. I’m sure I wouldn’t actually have to use any of this anyways.
It was just practice.
--
I stood across from Grey outside.
I was in my first ever pair of shorts and I wasn’t entirely comfortable with how much they were not leaving up to the imagination. Enzo, however, liked that.
“I could not have imagined you having such a nice ass under those frilly little skirts you wear,” He whispered.
“You are such a filthy werewolf,” I hissed. “You should be using this horrid charm on Mira and not me!”
“You told me not to say s****l things to her!”
“So you say them to me instead?” I asked.
“You’re my guardian angel, you’re supposed to make me happy,” He smirked. “And watching you squirm makes me ecstatic.”
He lightly bumped me as he walked away.
Why couldn’t I have been sent a kleptomaniac again?
“Okay, we’ll start off real easy, Celine,” Grey assured me with a smile on his face as he raised his hands. “Most people are right handed, so go ahead and punch my left hand.”
“What if I hurt you?” I asked.
“It would be an honor to be hurt by you, Celine.”
I giggled before winding my arm up and punching Grey’s hand with a grunt. He tried to hide his laughter but was unable too.
“Did I do it wrong?” I questioned.
“No…I mean yeah, but you’re so cute. Let’s actually start on your stance first. Can I um…touch you?”
“Anywhere you’d like…I mean…yes Grey.” I blushed.
He came up behind me. “So feet shoulder length apart and plant them. Good. Now twist your hips like this.” He put his hands on my hips to show me.
Enzo noticed and raised his eyebrows. I ignored him.
“Okay now tuck your thumb under so we don’t hurt it,” Grey said quietly. “Bend your knees, remember, twist those hips and strike okay? Can you do that?”
“I can try.”
He got in front of me again and raised his hands. “Hit me with your right hand.”
I tried to remember everything he said and punched his hand.
“A little better but you gotta bend your knees Celine and swivel your hips. Watch me.”
I watched as he punched the air. I didn't really understand how what I did was so different, but I did notice that his biceps looked absolutely amazing.
“So just like that,” Grey smiled.
“Um okay…like this?”
I tried to mimic exactly what he had done.
“We’re getting there.”
Grey and I practiced punching while the others were actually sparring. It kind of looked like fun even though getting hit seemed quite painful.
Enzo was sparring with Dom. He clearly was working up a sweat because he took his shirt off. Mira let herself get distracted by Enzo’s shirtlessness and Irene tackled her to the ground. Imagine getting that distracted over a man like Enzo!
I looked back at Enzo as he poured water over his face. It dripped down his strong jaw, over his muscular neck and down to his pectoral muscles. Then it found its way to his washboard abs and into those V muscles he was so proud of.
Okay I guess he could be kind of distracting.
“Alright, Celine give me a punch,” Grey’s voice sounded so far away.
I was still kind of distracted and just threw a punch as hard as I could, as though trying to fight my sexy thoughts about Enzo.
My fist connected and I heard Grey cry out. I fully focused back on him and he was holding his nose.
I punched him in the face!
