Chapter 7

I stared nervously at the building in front of me. I’ve been standing here for nearly fifteen minutes, and I still can’t made my feet to take a step. My heart is pounding so hard, and I’m having this familiar heavy feeling in my chest. I felt like if I take another step towards the building, it’ll pain me all over again. I am still confused but I’m certain that this emotions are because of the CEO.

I almost jumped when an arm was wrapped around my shoulders. I looked at the person and I found Atticus smirking face. I am starting to notice that, he’s oddly nice with me. I just ignored him, but before I could turn my back on him he was already in front of me.

“Why aren’t you going in? You’ll going to be late you know.” He said while smiling at me.

“I-I was about to!” I said as I took one step forward. He followed me close behind.

“About what you saw last night… Just don’t mind it, that b***h was just desperate to have Zach’s attention. I’m sure that he’s..” I didn’t let him finish when I turned at him. Blank face was plastered on me, so that he won’t notice my irritation because he mentioned it.

“Atticus, you didn’t have to explain for his side.” I said calmly as I hardly pressed the button on the elevator. Why is he explaining instead of the CEO?... And again, I cursed at myself for my thoughts. “I don’t care what he does, and what I saw last night doesn’t concerned me.” I said, still avoiding to let out my frustration visible. Yeah, I shouldn’t be, I told myself.

“No! You have the right to!” he blurted, which made me to turn at him. What is this i***t saying? Of course I don’t have the right to. I already told myself that a million times last night. “I m-mean they’re being unprofessional, doing stuff like that at his office and…” he stopped explaining when he realized that he can’t get back what he said. I can see that he’s cursing at himself right now.

“If you’re concern about me, please don’t be. I’m fine, and he has all the rights to do whatever he wants, it’s his company anyway. So stop saving his ass like I’m his boyfriend or something .” I told him which completely shuts him down.

Our conversation ended at that. We remained silent the whole time we were on the elevator. He followed me towards the CEO’s office while I’m holding a cup of coffee, which I assumed, is already cold due to how long I stayed outside the building.

I opened the door and I was lost in confusion. I looked at my watch, and it still early, so why is the CEO here? He used to come at eight in the morning. Our eyes met and another pain was stabbed against my chest as I start to recall what happened last night. f**k! Get yourself together Flynn!

“Zach! Why are you here so early?” Atticus nervously said. The CEO is giving him a deathly look, but I care less. He looked at me and our eyes met again for the second time. But this time I looked away.

“I see that you’re here so early sir. Can I still clean your office?” I asked politely trying to keep the professionalism in my voice.

“No need, just leave.” He coldly replied. Another sting was felt inside my chest. I tried my best to keep it all in.

I just nod and slowly help myself out. I saw how dumbfounded Atticus was. The CEO’s got even colder at me. I want to run to him and give him a punch, to wake him up and made him look at me and apologize to me, which I found myself stupid for even thinking that way.

“Wait!” I halted. My heart almost dropped when he called me.

“Y-Yes?” I answered as I turned to looked at him.

“Is that my coffee?” He asked while looking at the cup that I was holding.

“U-Uhm, this one’s already cold. Do you want me to get you a new one?” I asked him.

“No, just leave that coffee here, I’ll drink that” he answered.

I just nod at him and placed the cup on his table, while silently leaving his office.

Zachary Ivanov’s POV

“Leave” I said the moment my office closes, where my secretary left. Atticus was about to open his mouth to answer me, but I just wave my hand, signaling him to leave. I heard him sigh before I heard my office door opens and closes.

I took a deep breath, inhaling my secretary’s scent. It’s been months already and yet he can still affect me this bad. ‘Why did you ignored him? You’re being unfair! I want to hold our mate!’ I heard my wolf whining again. I’ve been trying to ignore him since we found our mate. He’s persistent and he kept on blaming me for everything.

‘Stop it Zen! I told you, we don’t need a mate to make us strong. We don’t need someone to heal us and complete us!’ I replied at him. My patience on him is wearing thin already.

‘Yes we do! Haven’t you noticed that we’ve become weaker and awfully tired? I need my mate!’ he replied back.

‘f**k it! Mates will only demand something and they will eventually leave us, if they found someone they love.’ I said

‘No! He’s different! I can feel that! I know he won’t leave us.’ I’m starting to have headaches.

‘He already has someone’ I said, trying to find any reason to discourage my wolf.

‘But I’m sure he’ll love us, because I love him’ he argued back. Why can’t he run out of reasons?

‘Face it Zen. Love doesn’t move like that.’ I told him. I heard him whimpered by what I said.

‘But I love him so much, I think I might die if I can’t be able to hold him soon.’ He answered.

‘Stop being silly, Zen. He’s a f*****g guy.’ I said.

‘I don’t care! I still want to hold him and kiss him, and f**k him and mark him’ he said. I rubbed the bridge of my nose. Why does this conversation become s****l?

I just ignored what he said and turn my attention to the pile of papers on my desk. I heard the notification of my phone. I opened the text and said

-Come home early. We need to discuss something.

It was from my sister Laura. I think it concerns about meeting the Raven pack.

The whole day went on with a lot of work. There are times that I would meet my secretary and my wolf would go crazy, but we both acted like a stranger to each other. It’s not like I’ve known him for too long, and he’s my friend. He’s just my secretary, that’s all.

Me and Atticus left the building at six in the evening. My secretary’s smell was all over him, and I am in a battle between my wolf, because he’s craving to kill our beta.

When we reached the pack house, I already found my sister on our library, she’s with dad.

“So what is this about?” I asked them.

“We’re meeting my the Raven pack next week, to arrange some deals with regards to them investing in our company. It’s also a great opportunity to introduce you as the CEO of our company, and the alpha of our pack.” My dad said. I just nod at him as an answer. “I am now currently searching within our she wolves, that will suit for you.” He added. Me and Atticus both exchange glances.

“What for?” I asked him.

“To show them that they can trust us. The alpha of the Raven pack truly puts their trust to those packs who already has their Luna. I’m sure you knew that they will only pass the alpha title to their heir once it finds its mate” he explained.

“Then we can just not push it with the Ravens” I plainly said. That’s bullshit! Mates are not welcome in my life.

“Why? You don’t like our she wolves? I guess I’ll just find someone in one of our allies.” He said. My dad is sometimes stupid. He clearly don’t get the point!

“I think you don’t need to do that dad. Zach already found his mate” my sister Laura said. I immediately gave her a death glare.

“Really? Splendid!” he blurted. f**k! Another headache.

“He’s a guy dad.” I told him to discourage him.

“Ow? Well I guess that’s even great. Our pack will be having two strong men that will lead them. Bring him here” I just rolled my eyes and walked out.

I heard someone followed me. I’m sure it’s my sister and Atticus.

“How are you going to bring him now? You’ve been ignoring him since you met him” Atticus worriedly said.

“Well, sounds like he’s going to make it up with his mate then.” My sister said, before she winked at me and pass through me with her dragging Atticus.

I’m sure it’s my sister’s plan. Well, if she thinks she’s the only one who could go her own way, I’ll show her I can go my own way too.
