My morning class is over, so I'm in the school garden. I'm missing her so much; when will I see her again? It's been so long, and I'm hoping it's not until my graduation. Why am I thinking about her so much? I should have gotten her number! Why didn't I think of that? "Hey, your mind is wandering again," a familiar voice suddenly said, and when I looked up, it was my kindest cousin. I noticed her twins behind her, and I waved at them with a smile. "My thoughts don't have wings to fly, cousin," I pouted, and the twins burst out laughing, except for my cousin, who gave me a stern look. "Hahaha, she's saying her thoughts are deep," Zyla said, laughing, and I just nodded. "Did you get it?" my cousin asked, annoyed. I just smiled at her and the twins. "Sorry, cousin," I said, pouting.
Moments later, my phone rang. "Venus! Venus! There's a call!" I quickly answered it without checking who it was. "Hello," I greeted cheerfully, but I noticed the other person wasn't responding. "Hello? Is anyone there?" I asked, and suddenly, my cousin head-slapped me. I looked at the caller ID, but I was puzzled. Toot! Toot! Toot! "They hung up," I said, putting my phone in my pocket. "Who called you?" Zhia asked curiously. "I don't know; it was just a number," I replied, and my cousin looked at me. "Why?" I asked her. "Did you give your number to someone else?" she asked seriously. "No, cousin," I replied, and she nodded.
When I looked at my pink watch, it was almost lunchtime. "Let's eat," I invited them, and Zyla quickly linked her arm with mine. We quickly headed to the canteen, and when we arrived, students greeted us. I greeted them back, but my cousin just gave them a stern look. After we sat down, Zyla asked me what I wanted to eat. "You're being weird, Zyla," I said, and I noticed she tensed up, which puzzled me. "Why are you being weird, twin?" Zhia asked, and I noticed Lexi was just listening. "You're always asking what I want to eat, but you know what I usually eat," I explained, and Zyla breathed a sigh of relief. "Maybe you want something different," she explained, and I stared at her intensely. "Okay," I replied.
My phone rang again. "Venus! Venus! There's a call!" I looked at the caller ID, and it was another number. I answered it, and my cousin looked at me again. "Hello?" I said, but there was no response. "Hello? Anyone home?" I shouted, and my cousin head-slapped me again while Zhia laughed. My cousin took the phone from me and was about to answer it when I tried to grab it back, but she gave me a stern look. "Hello," she said in her famous stern voice. "If you're just pranking, don't prank my stupid cousin, or you'll be the stupid one," she said before hanging up and throwing the phone back at me. I caught it quickly. "You're so mean," I pouted, and she just smirked. "Here's your food," Zyla said, and I quickly took my cheese cake and Zesto choco. "Yum," I said, and my cousin stared at me again. "Just eat and be quiet; I don't want any noise," she said, annoyed. "Yes," I pouted.
My classes are over, and I'm at home with my cousin, getting ready to sell grilled food. "Venus, hurry up," Lexi shouted, and I quickly left my room. "Let's go," I invited, and when we went out, there were already many people wanting to buy. "Kids, hurry up; there are a lot of customers," my dad said, and we quickly got to work. "What would you like?" I asked a couple. "Two dugo, two isaw baboy, and two barbeque," the woman said, smiling at me, and the man smiled too. "Okay, I'll call you when it's ready," I said, and they sat down. "Venus, three chicken feet," my cousin shouted, and I quickly cooked them. When they were ready, I handed them over, and they thanked me. My cousin's order was ready too, and I handed it over.
We've sold out, and after cleaning up and eating, I headed to my room. I was about to sleep when my phone rang again. "There's a call!" I quickly answered it, and my voice sounded tired. "Hello," I said.
I think I know who it is, but to avoid assuming, I'll just ask. "Ms. Athena, is that you?" I asked, and I was secretly hoping it was her. My tiredness from earlier suddenly disappeared. "Yes, please call me Athena and drop the 'Ms.,'" she said, and I smiled immediately at what she said. "You called me earlier, but you didn't say anything," I said, pouting, and I heard her laugh on the other end. "Hahaha, I just wanted to hear your voice," she said, and my heartbeat sped up even more. My stomach felt like something was fluttering. "Venus, are you there?" she asked, and I quickly responded. "Yeah, I'm getting sleepy," I said, yawning, and my voice sounded tired. "Sorry, okay, go to sleep now. See you soon, wifey," she said, but I didn't quite catch the last part because I was already getting sleepy. "Good night, Athena," I said, my voice drowsy, and just before I drifted off, I heard her say, "Good night, too. Sweet dreams, dream of me, wifey. I love you." I finally fell asleep, but before that, I smiled. I hope it's not just a dream.
