Chapter 22 - The Show Must Go On
Rats! They were rats! Circling around so fast that their eyes looked to be like one light "It's those same kinds of rats we saw outside. They have no fear of us. Evan realized he'd spoken this out loud and that he really hadn't needed to. The realization was on everyone's face. Tyler seemed especially disturbed. As if it was hurting him to see them. "These can't be real," his question was at odds with the look of great he had. "They look real enough," Evan couldn't worry about their feelings. He had to keep them alive. The rats just stood there waiting for something. It didn't take long for the team to figure it out. From another room came five more rats. These weren't ordinary. They were easily the size of a German Shepherd. All with the red eyes. It was obvious who was in charge.
