The police van was quiet.
Chika sat between Tunde and Ada, still shaking. David sat across from them, staring at his phone.
_This isn't over._
His thumb hovered over the screen.
_"Who sent that?"_ Ada asked, looking over.
David showed her. She frowned. _"Block it."_
_"It’s not that easy,"_ David said. _"What if there’s more of them?"_
At the station, they gave statements for 2 hours. Papers, questions, coffee.
By 3am they were finally free to go.
Outside, the air was cold.
Chika leaned on Tunde. _"I’m sorry,"_ she whispered. _"I got mixed up with bad people. I was scared."_
Tunde just hugged her tighter. _"It’s over now."_
They all got into a cab. No one talked much.
David dropped Ada at her place first. She squeezed his hand. _"Call me tomorrow, okay?"_
_"I will,"_ he said.
Back home, David couldn’t sleep. He kept checking the door, the windows.
At 5am, he gave up and made tea.
His phone buzzed.
Not a text. A call.
Unknown number.
David stared at it.
It rang 3 times. Then stopped.
He exhaled. Probably nothing.
He was about to put the phone down when a new message popped up.
From the same unknown number.
_Check your email._
David opened his email.
One new message. No subject.
Attachment: A photo.
It was David. Sleeping in his bed.
Taken last night.
Below the photo: _We’re still watching. Job’s not done._
David dropped the cup. It shattered on the floor.
It wasn’t over.
