Alexis sat at the center table in her off-white silk gown beaming from ear to ear. She imagined how she looked with that goofy smile, but she didn’t care. She’d never been more proud than this moment. A Copeland executive smiled at Alexis from the next table. She smiled back, enjoying how everyone praised her man if only for one night. The local media, Copeland’s partners and investors, and the who’s who of Tate Valley crowded the room to celebrate the joyous occasion.
