Meros.
A young boy was laying down on the grass, and behind him stood a depleted building. The boy was around 10 years old, his shiny white hair in a crew cut style suited him a lot. His eyelids fluttered, revealing a set of silver eyes. His physique was thin, obviously underweight, the clothes he was wearing were too big for him. He struggled a bit to sit up. He exhaled heavily, yet there was no fluctuation in his gaze as if he was a machine. He stood up and limped his way to the building. This building was his home known as Scanta Orphanage.
This orphanage was a hundred-year-old establishment. It was started by a wealthy man who lost his children. The building was three floors high, some cracks were visible on the outside walls from the battles with time. The place was surrounded by a grass field. The field was well maintained, and the grass was uniformly cut and it looked very refreshing.
"Felix... Felix... oh god, what happened to you?" a voice full of care sounded from the entrance of the building. A woman in her thirties came out. At this moment she was rushing towards Felix, who was limping his way inside the building. The woman was wearing a blue and white habit. She was a nun and the matron in the Orphanage. Her name was Deligentia. She was a caring person. She hurriedly came and supported Felix with her arms. She asked, "How did you get injured, child? Did anyone bully you?"
Felix looked at her and his eyes fluctuated. He was warm to only her. He shook his head and kept walking forward. Deligentia saw this. She understood that once again, she will get no answer from him. Felix was a charming child, but three years ago he stopped talking completely. He would either stay in the Orphanage's library or clean the garden. She felt sorry for him, but even gods cannot help those who don't want it so how could she do it. She knew that this kid was bullied by some thugs inside the Orphanage.
Felix entered the building with Deligenta's help. She led him to the prayer hall and helped him sit down on one bench. She then said, "Felix, dear, who did this to you? Tell me, please. I swear in the name of Saint Mercy, I will punish them." Felix smiled at her words and looked exquisite. He shook his head and stood up.
Deligentia spoke again, "Going to the library again?" this question was aimed at Felix. Ever since that boy has learned to read he would spare time in the library and even prefer sleeping there, unlike other kids who just goof around all day long.
Felix nodded and kept walking, while behind him Deligentia shook her head. How could she not know why this flower-like child became so desolate and cold to everyone? Three years ago, he found a letter written to him by his mother. The night his mother left him at the gates of the orphanage, there were two letters in the cradle. One of which was a magical letter. It could only be opened and read at a specific time set by the spell caster. The other letter was however addressed to the matron of the orphanage.
Deligentia was a newly appointed matron. She still remembers the content of that letter to this day. 'My name is Flos. This child is mine, but I cannot keep him with me despite how much I love him. I am dying and have little time left. I only hope that you take care of this child for me. If there is a second life, I will repay your kindness. The boy's full name is Felix Divinus Lenis. Yes, his father is The Divinus. You have my eternal gratitude. Please, pass the second letter to him when he is seven years old. It will open when he breaks the spell with a drop of his blood.'
Deligentia was shocked when she found out that Felix was the child of Divinus, the dragon rider. She took care of him and on his seventh birthday, she gave him the second letter. Felix opened the letter in front of her by dripping a drop of his blood on the letter. The content of the letter was written magically and except for him, nobody could read it. She stood there silently watching as the child's eyes changed and he became detached from the entire world. Despite being sad, he did not shed a single tear. She did not know what Flos said to the child in the letter, neither did she have the heart to ask him about it, making his wounds deeper.
The next morning Felix seemed to forget how to smile. He would take care of the gardens and then spend his time in the library. The library had hundreds of books, and Felix read them all for almost three years. He was a child despite his perseverance his knowledge was too shallow to understand them all. As time passed, his knowledge also grew, and now, he could read one book every day.
Today he was going to read a book called, Meros. He had learned that the world he lived in was called Meros. Three moons were revolving around Meros. They all could be seen in the sky at night. Lining up from big to small. It was said that the position of the moons would change depending on some factors known to only those who are in high positions in the world.
Felix came to a wooden door and pushed it open. He entered the library closing the door behind him. None of the kids ever came here, afraid that the books might eat them. Felix came to a bookshelf, he moved the ladder and leaned it against the shelf. He climbed up to pick up a book from the top. He carefully carried the book to a table and started reading after settling down.
The time flew by fast and just as the sky turned dark and moonlight entered the room from the window, Felix turned the last page of the book. He returned the book to the place he picked it up from and sat down to comprehend what he had learned.
'The world is called Meros, there are three moons, Eques, Magi, and Luna Dracones. These moons were named after the three most powerful groups on the planet. Warriors, Mages, and Dragons respectively. The planet had four continents, Orientalis - the eastern continent, Occidentalis - the western continent, Borealis - the northern continent, and Australis - the southern continent. The continents were divided by the vast ocean called Infinitus Aquarum. The word meant infinite water. The ocean was named this way after many people tried to cross the oceans but could not. The massive waves, sea monsters, storms, all these things made it impossible to tread on the water surface. Mages who tamed winged beasts or warriors with their massive airships could traverse the ocean. The time to travel from one continent to another was a year. So mages developed teleportation gates. But these gates were controlled by either the royalty of the temple of saint mercy.
There is only one religion in this world as of now. The followers of Saint Mercy. Either you follow Saint Mercy or you are an atheist. There was another religion, but one day the priests and followers all were told about the disbandment of this religion, this religion was known as the order of Saint Unity.
The temple of Saint Mercy was formed after a King spared the prisoners of war and started working for the welfare of the masses. He then gained the name of Saint Mercy. One day a golden halo descended from the sky and covered the Saint, afterward the people saw the saint ascend to the heavens. Since then, the followers have established the temple of Mercy. They did not offer prayers, but only followed the way taught to them by the Saint. The way of mercy.
The Saint of Unity was the Queen of Dragons, known as Concordia. One day, Concordia transformed into a human woman and walked among humans. She was curious about them. She saw how humans plotted against each other, she felt the pain of those who were innocent and taken advantage of, thus she started The order of Unity. She taught the masses that if the weak came together, they can become strong. She was a dragon, and the order became a force that punished those who bullied the weak and feared the strong. Ten years ago, religion vanished suddenly. The followers dispersed, priests went into hiding. The masses believed they were hiding in the wait of a new leader.
Felix comprehended all the detail and unknowingly fell asleep in the library again. What nobody noticed when Felix fell asleep, his legs were touching the ground. A green halo covered his leg and back. The floor beneath him cracked and vines came out of the cracks. The vines then slithered along with Felix's wounds, healing them completely. The bruises vanished, the boy felt comfort as the pain gradually eased, his lips formed a serene smile. He wandered into the land of dreams.
