11.You Are a Liar

Back at the cabin

When Kitty walks in from school, she is thirsty so she goes straight to the kitchen to get something to drink.she finds only two young Maids in the kitchen.She says hello to the both of them, one of them replies back but Laura decides to respond differently.“look who's here, the surrogate's sister” she says getting Kittys attention.

“What did you call me?” she asks

“I called you what you are” the maid replies

“Who is a surrogate?”she asks not sure of the meaning

“A surrogate is a person who carries a baby on behalf of other parents and that's what your sister is doing”

“You mean to say that my sister is pregnant?”

“Yes, that's what I mean.What do you think you are doing here, your sister is serving a purpose and she is being paid for carrying their child and when the baby is born, you won't see her again and you will no longer be staying in this house.You and your sister will go back to your lives”

The little girl started to break down after hearing what Laura had said. The other maid asked Laura why she had done that and she said that she was just letting Kitty aware and she didn't see anything wrong Kitty with it.

Kitty ran crying from the kitchen up to her sister's bedroom.

“You are a liar” she said the moment she entered Chloe's room and then ran off to her bedroom crying.

Chloe immediately stood up and followed her to the room.

Chloe's POV

After doing shopping with James, I was so tired and decided to go to the bed to take a nap so I didn't waitem down for my sister.

I was brought back to reality when she opened my door and yelled to my face that I'm a liar then she ran away. I really wanted to find out what was bothering this little girl so I forced myself to follow her to the bedroom. she was sitting on her bed her legs raised to her chin and she was sobbing.

“What's bothering you kitty? Please talk to me”

“I hate you Chloe. You are a liar”

“ What did I lie to you about?”

“You lied to me that you are James's friend and he gave you a job and the house.That was a lie he did all that because you are carrying his child.The baby that we will never be able to live with they will take it away. You lied to me Chloe”

After saying that, her breathing got faster and she fainted.I shouted for help and the maids ran up and give me a hand. They helped me carry Kitty down and out to the car.I called Ian the chauffeur that James had assigned to me and good enough Ian was around so we drove to the hospital.

On our way, I called James but he wasn't picking up.After something like 3 minutes, he called back. I told him about the situation and he told me to take Kitty to Dr.Freddy's hospital.Tears had already started falling from my eyes, ‘What had I done?’

When I reached the hospital, James had already made an appointment with the doctor so they immediately put Kitty on the hospital bed and then to drove her to the room.

“Please Chloe do not stress its not good for you and the little one.Your sister will be okay”Doctor Freddy assured me

As I was waiting in the lobby, James walked in and joined me where I was sitting.

“Tell me what happened” he said as soon as he sat down.

“James she found out” I said sobbing. “She found out that I was pregnant and that once the baby is born, we won't be able to live with it. She called me a liar” I said letting out an ugly cry.James caught me on the shoulders and hugged me.

“ It's going to be okay Chloe do not stress.It's not good for the baby.Kitty is going to be fine you will see”He assured me.

“I really hope so”

“But how did she find out even before we told her?”

“That I have no idea, she came running to my room then shouted calling me a liar when I went to her room to find out, She fainted after telling me what she knows.She was so mad James, I don't know if she will forgive me for this” I said leaning on his chest.

James caught me by my shoulders and pushed me back making me look at him in the eye.

“ Look Chloe, I know Kitty is mad right now but once we explain to her, she will understand and she will forgive you cause the only reason you did this was to save her.She will understand, she's a good kid I'm telling you” James assured me.

James's POV

After I dropped Chloe home, I decided to call Christine to find out where she was. When she picked up, I started.

I needed to ask ask her why the contact cord didn't change from that of the US to that of Italy. She then informed me that the US cords work in Italy.

“Christine, are you sure you're in Italy?” I asked she fell silent for some time but then again replied

“Yes, I'm in Italy. why? don't you trust me James?”she asked

“I don't know anymore Christine, I found Becky and she informed me that there would be no modeling until next month so where are you Christian?”

“Love, I'm in Italy, I remember telling you about an agency that found interest in me sometime back so that other company is one I travelled with and Becky isn't part of it”

“ Well,it's okay if that's the case. I also want to remind you about the celebration, it will be held over the weekend at my parents Country House please make sure that you are here on time”I informed her

“Okay love, thanks for letting me know.Let me talk to our director prior the date”.

After that, I hung up. I called home and asked one of our helpers to check in the drawer and take a photo of the contract that Christine signed with her modeling agency. When she did, I found out that the contract was exclusive; meaning she wasn't supposed to work for any modeling agency apart from the one in the contract.

‘Why was Christine lying to me? What was she up to?’

I couldn't help but ask myself this question something was going on with her.

As I was still trying to figure out things, I got a call from Chloe telling me that kitty fell unconscious and they were already heading to the hospital. I rushed from the company and drove off to Dr Freddy's hospital to see what was wrong with the young girl.

Chloe was already there but she was crying so much something that wasn't good for her or even the unborn baby.

After she told me the cause I couldn't help but wonder.

“How did she find out?”I asked

“I have no idea, she just blamed me. I hadn't even been able to tell her anything that could calm her down later on ask where she heard that from”She replied

“Wait here, let me first look for doctor Freddy and know the little girl's condition”I said

“Can I come with you please?I'm going to lose my mind sitting here not knowing my sister's condition”She asked looking up at me with pleading eyes and I couldn't say no.

“I will go with you but first you need to compose yourself or else we are going to have complications with you and our unborn child something which won't be good”I said

On hearing that, she quickly dried her face with the back of her hands like a kid and looked a little bit more serious.

We reached right on time as Dr.Freddy was leaving Kitty's room.

“How is she doing Doctor?”Chloe asked

“She is stable now but you need to be careful with her however much she feels like she healed, she still needs time to heal thoroughly”The doctor cautioned us

“She got mad because we didn't tell her about the surrogacy, how will we explain to her if she is this delicate but needs answers”I asked

“You will explain to her carefully since she has already been told.She will definitely need an explanation”

Chloe's POV

It was around 8:00 p.m. when Kitty finally opened her eyes. I was sitting on the chair inside her hospital room silently praying for my her wellbeing.Mr.Mclain had gone to get me something to drink.

“Chloe?”I heard her voice calling my name so I looked up to see that she was awake.

“Kitty I'm so sorry for not telling you but you see I found Mr.Mclain at the time when he needed a baby but his wife could not given birth so he was looking for a surrogate and was giving them a lot of money.

Since I was in need, I begged him to make me his surrogate.As long as you were going to live, I decided to be surrogate”

Just then, James walked in with the drinks.

“ It's okay Chloe, although it's sad will never see the baby but I understand that whatever you did was for me but the problem is you kept it from me and I don't like that I'm not a kid anymore, I think I can understand now”. she said then turned her gaze to James

“Mr.McLain, thank you so much for everything you've done for us. Thank you for helping my sister help me”

“So now I'm no longer Mr.Knight?”

“From what I know, I don't want to be close to you anymore cause once this is done, you and the baby will be nowhere to be seen”

“Don't say that girl, I'll be around.I'm not going anywhere”

“But Laura said once everything is done, we will go back to our poor lives and you will take the baby away”

“So it's Laura that told you this?”I asked

“Yes”she nodded her head.
