10.Suspicion

Chloe's POV

Being pregnant comes with a lot of new experiences and it affects everyone differently. You can't be sure how you would be affected accept when it's time to have your first child.

I started feeling that early morning sickness, being sleepy all time,the nausea was too much and I got so emotional.I started missing my parents and crying while alone and the thought of carrying this child and giving it away made me sad.

I was already building a connection with the little one and also seeing how James loved and cared for this baby when it was still in its early stage also made me emotional.‘At least my baby would have a great family’ .

It was going to have a great dad and every time he did something good, I was always seeing how lucky Christine was to have such a man.

Today, he was taking me for shopping because I had to meet with the baby's grandparents. I guess they wanted to celebrate and see the person carrying their baby.

Today, Mr McClain was coming to pick me up so I could go and look for the dress for the event.

“I thought you had canceled Mr McClain. I mean James”I said when the billionaire walked in.It was already 2:00 p.m. so I thought he was not going to come for me.

“ If I had canceled, I would have informed you over the phone. I decided to first work then come pick you up after lunch and here I am.Are you ready?”He asked

“Yes I am” I took my purse that was in the sofa and then suddenly James caught my hand and led me out of the house.He took me by surprise cause it looked more like we were in a relationship other than the surrogate- parents relationship.

His guards were already at the car, they opened the back door for us.The Billionaire helped me sit and he also joined me then his driver took off"

“Sorry to ask but I haven't seen your wife coming to visit lately is she okay”I asked

“ Yeah she is fine although she went to handle some business but she will be here when she returns”

I nodded my head in understanding.

“So when is the celebration going to take place?”I asked again

“Over the weekend at my parents country house”he replied

He then asked his driver to pull over at a place where clothing stores were paraded one after the other.My jaw almost dropped, the place itself looked expensive and I wondered how the clothes were priced. Mr McClain helped me out of the car and led me to one of the clothing store.

The salesperson was already there at the door waiting for us. she gave us a warm welcome and started showing us around her clothing store.

It was going to take a while for my bump to start showing so I opted for the usual dresses.

At first James chose for me a black sleeveless bodycon fitting dress. When I came to show him the results, he looked at me like he had never seen me before.

“Whats with that look?”I asked

“Cause you're looking gorgeous in that dress” he replied making me blush

“Thank you James, but I have never won such dresses before and I can't take them to your parents house” I replied

“It'ss okay if you don't like it, we can try on something else” the sales lady said

“Pack that dress, we will take it as well but she can try on something else that she thinks will make her comfortable”

I started changing dresses and coming for him to see but he didn't find them good enough so I went on and changed again and again.Soon the task was getting tiresome and as I was still changing, the lady was called for an emergency back at the desk. she apologized to us saying that she will be back in no time.

This made things more complicated cause she was doing dresses for me and now I had to pick them for myself.I went to the changing room to remove address. I had put on a dress that James hadn't found good enough but my arms couldn't reach my back and I started fidgeting with the zip but I couldn't Zip down the dress.

When James saw that I wasn't coming, he knocked at the door.

“Chloe are you okay in there, what's taking you so long?”

“James I can't seem to reach the zip” The billionaire opened the door and walked straight behind me and our eyes met in the mirror.We held our gaze for some time then then I retreated and looked down feeling shy. James put my hair aside and started to ZIP down my dress up to the waistline. When his hands touched my skin, I felt Goosebumps all over my body and I made a hiss.

“Are you okay Chloe?”

“Yes I'm fine James”

After he was done, I waited for him to go outside that I can undress and put on something else but he was standing there typing something on his phone.

“ I need some privacy please”I said and he went back.

I had picked a floral yellow off shoulder sunny dress. It wasn't too long and not too short and it looked good after putting it on.I went and asked him what he thought about the dress.

“You look beautiful and simple and natural in the dress.Do you like it?” he asked

“Yes I do”I replied

“Then I guess that one will do”

Just then,the lady returned James asked her to pick some more dresses that are beautiful plus some maternity dresses that I would put them on later.

I insisted that I just take one dress but he didn't pay attention to me.He just gave the saleslady orders to go on and pack.

Once we were done packing, the sales lady helped me with the things and we walked out of the dressing room. When I looked at where James was standing, he was talking to a lady. I didn't see her face quite well since she was putting on a around Sunny hat and glasses. To me, her physic was that of James's wife. When I got closer, her features looked quite different and before I could reach where they were standing, she turned and left. James looked a little bit surprised and upset.

“Is everything okay?“ I asked

“Everything is fine, let's just clear everything up and go”

We went to the counter and paid.The things weren't that much but they cost a fortune.

From there, I thought we were heading straight to the cabin but we stopped at a hotel and we had dinner but James seemed to be out of place. I put my hand on top of his at the table trying to get his attention.

“What is bothering you.You can talk to me”

Before he could answer, I saw a flashlight and it is disappeared within a second.

“What was that?”I asked covering my eyes.

“I guess it's the paparazzi but I don't give a s*** about them anymore.They makeup stories every now and then and if you're not mentally prepared they can break you down but I'm used to that now”.

After that we we finished our meal and then he took me to the cabin and they drove off.

James's POV

Taking Chloe to the clothing store made me realize how beautiful the girl was, it was the situation that she was in that made her look unsightly.

She even had beautiful curves that she was hiding in the round dresses she always put on.When she refused the First dress, I decided to keep it for my wife but as I waited for Chloe to go change.I heard a lady calling my name. When I turned around, it was one of the models my wife worked with.

“Hi, nice to meet you. I'm Becky Summers. Do you remember me?”

“Yes of course the face looked familiar but I didn't know your name. What are you doing in here.Aren't you supposed to be in Italy modeling?” I asked

"No Mr McClain, we won't be needed at the agency until next month they gave us this period to rest and catch up with our loved ones"

“Oh really, is that so?” I asked being surprised.

“ It was nice meeting you Mr.Mclain but I got to go”she said and walked out of the clothing store.

What she said gave me left me with a lot of questions.

Where was Christine and why would she lie to me? Something was up with her and I had to find out what it was.

I decided to put the dress in Chloe's stuff.She would put it on someday if she felt like it.
