Third person P. O. V
The three men ran towards Lorenzo's car, all thoughts of getting food forgotten and without saying much sped towards the safety of their home.
It did not matter how fast hey drive the feeling of dread did not waver, in fact it increased to a point where Herron felt nauseated, his human genes to weak to handle such strong feelings.
Dumont kept trying to decipher what gave them such sinister vibes, whatever it was, was pure evil unlike anything he had ever encountered in his life, all his lives. And that's to say a lot since he had seen gnarly and horrific things before.
Lorenzo drove like a bat out of hell as the mere thought of losing his mates made him tighten his hold on the steering wheel. He also did not have any idea what, was out there but he was prepared to lay his life down fighting for the safety of his mates as, loosing either of them would destroy him.
Upon reaching home they got out of the car and ran inside the house feeling better as they were protected by a magic spell that had encompassed their home in a dome of safety from evil.
"What, the hell is that?" Herron asked the two men who had forced him to spend the weekend. And without waiting for an answer he let them know that if they had left him alone he would be safe at home with his mama but instead he was with them and a lot of weird things had already happened to him in less than 24 hours.
"if anything happens to me _"
He did not have to compile that statement as both Dumont and Lorenzo promptly assured him that they would keep him safe.
"Perhaps we should sit down and talk about everything" Dumont suggested after realizing that they were still standing at the doorway. He took his mates' hands, holding Herron's tighter after he tried to pull away, and led them towards the living room.
Before settling down Herron made sure to close the curtains as if they would protect him for, whatever was out there.
"You guys haven't answered me!" He reminded them of his initial question.
"We do not know yet babe, but whatever it is is very evil." Dumont answered.
"I am not your babe, Dumont!" Herron stated a little irritated wondering who gave him the right to use the pet name, hoping to hide the fact that hearing it from his mouth made his heart skip a beat.
Dumont wished to reply with something snarky but reminded himself it was not the right time to go down that path. His mates were in danger and he had to do something about it.
"We need to finds out what is out there and how to deal with it asap" Lorenzo said making sure to add urgency to his voice.
"I totally agree, maybe we should go out there and force it to come out, maybe if we see what it is we will know what to do." Dumont suggested, looking at Lorenzo.
"I want to come too."
"NO!" Lorenzo and Dumont shouted in unison.
"I wasn't asking." Herron supplied knowing that he couldn't survive if anything happened to his mates. He might still be a little mad over what happened during summer, but it wasn't the time to pretend he did not have feelings for the two men.
"Maybe we should call for back up." Suggested Lorenzo thinking of the whereabouts of their vampire Friend who, hadn't returned since the previous evening.
Dumont took out his phone and called Laurent who picked up after three rings.
"Dude, we need you at the house. It's an emergency"
"Would it kill you to start with a hello? I mean I could be dead in a ditch for all you know.", Laurent whined.
"You are dead Lau, now hurry your ass before I re-kill you with my bare hands!" Dumont could totally feel his fangs itching to be free, this was no time to play around yet his best friend didn't get the hint from his voice.
"You are so mean!" Laurent whined again sounding like he, was at the verge of tears although he knew his, friend couldn't harm him.
"JUST HURRY THE f**k UP!!!!" Dumont shouted wondering for the umpteenth time how he became friends with Laurent.
He walked back to his mates and sat between them on the sofa. He pulled them closer and let their warmth calm him down ignoring the fact that he could hear them chuckle at his irritation.
Herron leaned into Dumont's hold not caring to scold himself for giving into his feelings, after all they were mates and he was willing to forgive them and start afresh. How could he not when they had explained to him why they had shut him down during summer. He was so lucky to find his true mates.
Not fives minutes later, Laurent barged into the house not seeming out of breath even after running in vampire speed.
Dumont explained to his friend why he was summoned and without complaints Laurent had, agreed to go into the forest with them.
They, did not have to even enter the forest as just inside the outline of trees there stood a figure straight out of horror movies. Dressed in all black the only thing they could see were red eyes that seemed to be looking deep into their soul regardless of the distance between them. As they neared the figure, there was heavy aura of dread and fear that seemed to weigh on them, with every step they took.
Herron almost peed himself as, he tried to hide behind his mates. He had a feeling deep inside his stomach that made him queasy.
"Guys, wait!" Lorenzo halted them.
"There is more of them hiding in the shadows, we are outnumbered." He told them wondering why the two vampires weren't sensing the presence of evil around them coming from different directions.
Luckily they were a few feet from the end of their safety line. Without waiting to be told twice they retreated but just as they turned a, sinister voice said,
"We are coming for you, the protection barrier won't hold against all of us!" then multiple evil laughs were heard as the boys, ran towards the house.
True to the evil words, the barriers were coming down and the boys knew it was time to try and outrun the evil that was coming after them.
