Always Together. 3

Daniel was not a patient person. It's alright. He has been told that several times. He believes he got that trait from his father. And he's okay with it. It's not a bad thing. Atleast that's what he thinks. Besides some people just love to annoy him. Or so. But not her. Never her. He's always so patient with her. He just wanted her to tell him about the letter. Yeah just about the letter so that he can know. When he called Elisha, for ordering to make lunch for Natasha - her favourite chicken marmite and garlic naan, that's when Elisha informed him about the letter. Of course Elisha didn't tell him what was in the letter because she didn't know but she did tell him that it had no address of the sender and that Natasha's demeanor changed when she opened the letter. Now he was just plainly agitated by her behaviour. It was infuriating. "What the hell Natasha? Why can't you just f*****g talk to me? Huh? Is it so difficult?" He snatched the book she was holding and threw it aside. He did not flinch at the thud sound. He clenched his hands at his sides and she could see his cheeks tinged with frustration while his eyes widened. He does that every time he's trying to control his anger. Was he being serious? After all this time he thought it was so easy for them to talk. Really? "Oh I don't know. Maybe because you have acted like a complete stranger from these past months and pretended like I don't even exist. And now you want to talk suddenly. What do you want Daniel? Really I'm tired." She gritted her teeth and exclaimed, frustrated. She was so fed up of this. Honestly. It has been six months since that incident and they have completely closed off. Both of them. It's not like they tried. They accepted it as it was. She missed his touch. It has been so long since he paid attention to her. Since he did special things for her. She finally accepted that they were going to be like this and so they both moved on from that. Mostly her. Because it was not worth waiting for someone who didn't want to return. He squinted his eyes, looking at her and shame filled his features. She was saying the truth and it hurt. Her words were harsh that it pricked his skin and hurt him but whatever she was saying was absolutely true. He can't deny that. His expressions smoothened after that. He cannot blame it on her. And his eyes went back to normal. He shook his head. He had to fix this. It was long overdue and he didn't wanted to make an effort to fix it because it meant that there was something broken and needed fixing and he didn't want to acknowledge that fact. Acknowledge that something did break inside them after the incident. "I don't want anything. No. I just want to talk to you. You are my wife, baby." He whispered, his throat caught up. "Yeah well thanks for stating the obvious. You didn't remember your wife from these past few months. Huh, Daniel?" She asked while crossing her arms and resting then against her chest. He tried to ignore that action pushed her breast up. He understood that. He was to be blamed. And the tears at the corner of her eyes made him feel like s**t. But she was not the only one suffering. He did as well. In fact he was suffering. "You know it's hard for me as well. I am also suffering cara. You're not alone." He whispered, his voice completely alien and pained. It was as if he did not wanted to admit that. His eyes looked troubled and his face fallen. She knew that he was being genuine. But his confessing irked her a lot more now. She was not accusing him, she was just stating facts and he was trying to be so defensive and that was definitely getting on her nerves. He does not get to be all defensive now. It's his fault. Partly. "Could have fooled me Daniel. Sure your late night parties and business trips are good way to show your suffering. Really brilliant." She snarled as she remembered about all those nights he came home drunk and smelling like expensive perfume. Sometimes he was so drunk and out of it that some driver had to come and drop him. She would be so embarrassed to talk to them as they carried his weight to their room. From last six months she has been waiting for him to talk to her, show her some affection, assure her that it was not the end of world and they would get through it together and everything would eventually fall into place but he pretended like she didn't even exist. Like they did not lose their baby. Like they did not lose something so precious to her, to them. Like everything was fine and dandy and there was nothing to worry about. And now he suddenly wants everything to be fine. He wants to mend and talk to her like nothing happened. Who was he kidding? Rome was not built in a day and this is a relationship. A marriage. Her condescending tone made him angry. She sounded like he didn't care at all. Like he wasn't there for her at all. Like she was the only one suffering. He suffered as well. A lot actually. Also he wanted to be there for her but the only way he could cope up with his sadness and be there for her was to forget about it and engage himself elsewhere so that he could be strong for both of them. That proved to be harmful. Very toxic as well. Along the way he lost his balance on perspective of things, on his actual problems and was edging towards becoming a alcoholic. That's when his father came into the picture. He held his arm back and saved him. His father talked him out of it. He would be long dead or ended up in ditch somewhere if it hadn't been for his father. His father, who worked hard for him and called him regularly to check up on him and practised boxing with him. He was so glad and thankful for that. After suffering for one whole month which he now termed it as his alcohol phase because it was crazy. He attended each and every party his clients hosted and few where he voluntarily went and drank his weight off during every single party. But not now. Now he was clean and stable. "Don't talk s**t. You don't even know the half of it." He growled and stood up from the bed, ignoring the creaking sound. It didn't even matter anyway. His hands were still fisted at sides. This was his attempt to talk? A lame attempt. "How would I know if you don't tell me anything? I'm not a f*****g psychic Daniel." She yelled as he was standing in front of her, his height towering her. She felt her throat dry from the yelling but at this point she didn't care. He cringed at her loud voice. It vibrated through his ear and made a ringing voice and that annoyed him. He roughly tugged and pulled at his strands again. He then rubbed his hands on his face and released a deep breath. He was so f*****g tired from the work and now arguing with her took a lot of effort. It looked like he was trying to keep it together. She could sense that. "Why are you so being difficult cara?" He asked in a resigned tone. "I won't. Just stop trying to talk to me." She flashed him a fake smile and picked her book again. She didn't want to give him hard time. He already looked tired and this was going nowhere. She was sure that he was getting angry. For some weird reason she did not feel the need to irk him any more. She don't know where this was coming from but she didn't feel to do it. Previously she would any chance to annoy him and give him hard time but now she couldn't. But also she felt like she wanted to yell at him some more. Something, anything because she was feeling light. Like something heavy was being lifted off from her shoulder. Was it weird? Because she felt relieved to yell at him. Scream at him. But he was too tired. "You know what? I tired. It's my fault. Just when I thought I could talk to you. Who was I kidding?" He frustratedly threw his hands in the air and with a vigor he removed the tie and threw it on the couch beside him. She clenched her eyes at his action. She was sure that he did that purposefully. Huffing he walked towards the bathroom door. "Well good thing huh? Next time you'll remember then." She yelled at him as he shut the door. She felt really really relieved. Maybe this was what they were lacking. Yelling. Or even like talking to each other. Because now she felt lighter. They should do this more. What a ridiculous thought! She was sure Daniel would sulk after this and would not talk to her for few days. She shut the book and placed it back on the nightstand and laid on the bed. For the first time in while I didn't had to wait for the sleep to come. She instantly fell into the warm embrace of sleep and had the best sleep but no one had to know that. *** Daniel noticed that she was sleeping peacefully and his heart tugged looking at her angelic form. She was so beautiful to look at that sometimes it hurt to look at her. As soon as he was sure that she was sleeping he quickly searched for that letter. Fine if she was not going to tell him. He'll find it out himself. Even though their relationship is not the same but that doesn't mean he loves her less. In fact his love for him increases each day and he is so sure that she's the one. After going through the desk and all the wardrobe he sighs finding nothing. Where did she hid it? One thing was sure that it must be something bad because she did hide it. He was going to find out. But before that he has to tell Elisha to be more careful and look after his wife. At least now it was more important that he had Elisha to look after his wife. It's not like his enemies and his people know where he lives but it's better to be safe than sorry. ***
