"Signora there's a letter for you" She snapped her head in the direction of Elisha's voice. She focused her eyes on Elisha and her fingers stopped typing, it was the rough draft she was working on for her new story. Her brows knitted in confusion eyeing the letter. Who would send a letter in these days? Like that is so outdated now. She does receive mails but they are usually collected by her manager because she is just lazy like that. Also those letters are mainly bills and notices regarding important thing. Also her manager, Bella is really an angel for doing that work. It saves her a lot of time. In fact the first thing Bella does before entering their house is check her mail box just in case. She's a good employee. Elisha eyed her employer as she looked in deep thought. She felt a bit sad looking at the worry lines. It's like all she sees these days. There were days when she never used to have those lines, instead she used to have crinkles by the corner of her eyes and she would be all happy and giggly. She was lovely and her eyes used to brighten like a light bulb everytime she used to find something new. It was precious just to watch her like that. Natasha gave a last glance to the bright screen in front of me and let out a sigh. It felt like she was getting no where with this. Everyone loved to interrupt her while her creative juices were flowing. It's like they made it a mission. From past one month she was working on this story and she was experiencing a terrible case of writer's block. The true crime story she was working took her a lot of research and lot of attention to put all those articles and pictures together. Some of them were fake as well. She had to pick them out carefully. Maybe because Daniel was not there to support her this time or encourage her. Yeah maybe that's why her last book didn't do that well. Sure let's blame it on him. It was very embarrassing to sit in that meeting with CEO and let him talk to her like she was a child. But the very next day he called her and apologised which she found to be very weird because she earned that embarrassment and also it was her mistake. The marketing team had to hear from him along with her editorial team but funnily enough they didn't get the apology she got. It was really fishy but she let that go. She was trying everything so that she could to get back to writing flawlessly and without hurdles. Took long walks, listened to music but it just didn't help. It felt like a dark cloud was looming over her at all times. It made me feel so unhappy at times. "Signora?" Elisha called out, worried. "Huh? Oh. Yeah thanks." She nodded and took the letter from her. As Elisha handed her the letter she couldn't hold back so she gave her a assuring smile and patted her shoulder. Natasha felt a bit better. It was nice to have her around. It felt like she was sane, normal when she was around her and talking to her. A good company is what people need to keep themselves sane. That's what her therapist told her. Natasha glanced at the blank address and frowned. Who would send a letter with blank address? She tore the envelope without another thought, of course cause she had lost the patience to open it with a knife or something. A single piece of paper fell out of the envelope. She noticed that the one facing her was completely blank. She turned the paper around only to find the bold letters staring back at the her. 'I would be careful if I were you. Step away from that story. It's not yours to tell!' Her eyebrows furrowed together looking at those words. What the hell does this mean? She thought angrily. Was this some kind of joke? She turn the envelope and tried to look inside for something else but it was empty. Why would someone send her this? "Elisha?" She yelled while throwing the envelope on the table. Just turn she heard footsteps approaching towards her from the kitchen. Elisha frantically rushed out of the kitchen and stood before her. "Si. What happened? Is everything alright?" She asked worried. "Was this in the mail box or lying around it?" Natasha asked taking a deep breath. Though it was not visible on her face but she felt a deep sinking feeling in her stomach. As if something bad is going to happen. "No, it was on top of mailbox. Kind of stuck on it. Is there any problem Signora?" She asked while narrowing her eyes at the letter. Elisha could see her clicking her tongue while her nails were pressed against her palm. Should I tell her? Natasha thought. Elisha is loyal to Daniel so there's a hundred percent guarantee that she'll tell him everything. It would worry his 'busy life' and she kind of don't want him to get involved in this mess. She was already hiding that she was writing a true crime story, scratch that controversial true crime story. "No! No it's fine. Thanks. It's nothing. Just me being silly." She gave her a weak convincing smile and got back to her work. Elisha stood there for a while not at all believing her bullshit. It was evident that she was trying to hide something. She observed her for a while and then departed back to the kitchen. It was just a prank. Everything will be fine. Everything is fine. She convinced herself. Only if she knew. *** "Hey" She raised her head as she heard familiar drawl. She looked at Daniel as he entered the room, power in his walk as if he was the only command in the room. She was currently reading Paradise Lost by John Milton. Absolute classic and her favourite. For some reason she loved it and read it whenever she felt like reading nothing else or whenever she was too bored. "Hi" She greeted back, surprised. He never does this. Come home early and greet her Daniel swallowed a lump formed in his throat. This felt so weird and alien. She was his wife for crying out loud and he felt so scared to talk to her, like he would hurt her if he spoke anything else. She heard the crunching sound of footsteps getting louder as they approached her. She did not dare meet his eyes. "Umm... So how was your day?" He asked sitting on the edge of bed, carefully so that it would not create a noise. He did not wanted anything to disturb this. She felt panic seep into her. This was weird. This was foreign and for the first time she felt like she couldn't breathe. She did not want to think that. But there was this thought. TINY thought but disturbing enough. Was he going to finally divorce her? She hoped not. She noticed that he was sitting just few inches away from her and she can smell his strung cologne. It enchanted her, his vanilla and spice was strong and powerful, just like him and she felt like he was hypnotising her with that scent. Almost overpowering her. She pretended that his closeness was not affecting her and it was very difficult to do that. She then gave him a once over. He still had his black blazer on but unbuttoned and she could see that black shirt clinging on his body and outlining his muscular abs and strong arms. His first two buttons were undone and she could see glimmer of his skin peeking out. She suddenly felt her mouth dry at the sight as she remembered how she had countless times licked his jaw and neck. Her eyes roamed towards the tie that was loosely hanging on his neck. He had worn a black tie with but what caught her attention was the tie pin attached to it. It had the exact same diamond as her wedding ring. She had gifted him that on their second wedding anniversary. She can still remember that look on his face. He was so happy and his eyes shone brighter than that diamond. He had twirled her around and pressed endless kisses on her mouth and that was that. He said it was the most thoughtful and best thing he had ever received and she never felt more overjoyed at that moment. She bit her lip. No he would not divorce her. If he was wearing a four year old tie pin, he was not going through with this. His eyes then automatically landed on his wild mess of hair. Those chocolate brown locks looked so unruly and messy like they have been repeatedly pulled in frustration and tangled and combed by fingers. He could feel her stare on her and honestly it made him feel very good. Happy as well. He was so sure that she did not feel attracted to him anymore but her flared nose and wide blown pupils were any indication he was definitely wrong. She was balantly checking him out. "Yeah... It was fine" She whispered averting her eyes from him and continued to reading. She did not want to talk to him anymore. It was useless. He sighed. He hated it when she does that. It was like she was purposely not talking to him. Avoiding him. Frustrated he tangled his hand in his hair and pulled them out I'd habit. She could see his actions. "That's good to hear. Aren't you going to ask about mine?" He tried lamely. He was not sure what to do anymore. It was like he didn't even know her anymore. He was getting up after from Elisha as what his wife was up to and whether she was eating or not but he did not know what she was working on or what she was enjoying currently. What music was she listening right now? Is she still fan of Coldplay and The Neighbours? Natasha shut the book little harder than necessary. She hated small talks. "What is happening Daniel? Why the sudden interest to talk to me? Don't you have anything else to do? I don't know....umm...work?" His face changed at her agitated and taunting tone. She was taking a jab at him. And it was hurtful. He released a deep breath trying not to say something he would regret later. "Can't I just not talk to my wife now? Hmm?" He asked casually with a weak smile on his face. No you cannot. Not after pretending that I don't f*****g exist and forgetting my birthday and behaving like a complete stranger to me. She thought angrily and she so badly wanted to tell this to him but she did not. "Seriously just don't do this." She sighed instead. And she hoped he would take a hint. ***
