Birthday

Selena's pov

I was rudely woken up by a voice. It's time to shift. I shot up, looking around, wondering where it was coming from. The voice just laughs and calls me silly. I took a good look around, not seeing anyone, and noticed that it was pitch black outside. I take a look at the clock, and it says 1:30 am. It's me Seraphina your wolf, silly girl. I smiled and said back," Hi Seraphina, I'm excited to have you." I felt her getting anxious and wanting to run, so I grabbed an extra pair of clothes. She warns me that the first time will hurt .

I headed outside to the forest. I put the clothes down behind the tree closest to the house so that I have them when I come back. I start to feel the pain of the first bones breaking. I groan out in pain and let Seraphina take over for the rest of the shift. I see the transformation as I am sharing control with her.

Once I shift, I take off running through the forest, headed to my favorite secluded area that goes to a river. I can feel how much she is enjoying this. Once in this meadow, I walk over to the river to get a good look at my coloring. I look at my reflection and gasp a little as I am a white wolf with a black star on her chest. It is rare that there are white wolves anymore.

We are special wolf she tells me. I ask her what that means, and she says we will find out when we find our true mate. I am curious about what she means, but put trust that we will find out what that means. Especially the true mate part.

I let her run around for a while before heading back. Once back, I put the clothes I had left out and headed back to bed.

I fall back asleep and dream of what the day is going to bring.

*Later that morning*

I open my eyes and see the light pouring in through the window. I looked over and saw that it's 8 am and rolled out of bed. I chose an outfit that is fit for school. I get dressed and put some light makeup on and head downstairs. I stretch and grab an apple before mindlinking to Mom and dad that I am headed for school.

Okay dear, have a good day see you when you get home - Mom responds.

I take the walk to school since Cam has already left for the day. I cannot believe he didn't wake me earlier, I said to myself. He did, but I told him to go and that you needed to rest. Sera told me as she lay curled in a ball.

Once I get to school, I go to my locker and get the books I need for class. Normally, I meet Kasey before going to our lockers but she's nowhere to be found. I sigh and listen to the bell ring and head to first period.

All of a sudden I get a ding. I check my phone and see that its Cam.

C: Sorry I left this morning without you :(

S: Its okay C

C: By the way happy birthday sis!

S: Happy Birthday Bro!

C: Shift together before the party?

S: Sure

I put my phone back in my pocket and laugh silently at my brother and how excited that he seems to be for our birthday.

* After School*

C I will meet you at the clearing by the river - I mindlink him and take off to the clearing.

Last one, there is a rotten egg - He says mindlinking me back with a laugh.

Our pack isn't the biggest pack, but it's also not the smallest. It's got alot of trees and clearings with a small river running through it. No wonder why we are called the West river pack. The river is running to the west. I continue to take a good look around as i get into the clearing. I am feeling Sera running and getting excited in my mind.

Cameron arrives shortly after, with a bag in his hand. " I brought clothes for both of us to change into when we are done." He says, placing them down by the tree. I laughed and gave him a hug with a nod of thanks.

"Ready" I say and he nods. "A little nervous but ready nonetheless." He speaks as he starts to shift. I sat there encouraging him and being there for the first shift.

He finally shifts into a wolf similar to mine but with the black spot on his shoulder. I shifted after him into Seraphina. I look at him through her eyes, and we look at each other confused, why are we white wolves. Special wolves you both are, Sera says. She adds on to say when the time comes you will know. I groaned, confused and impatient. Why cannott i know now? I reply and she just says soon now lets run.

She chooses that moment to nip at Conan playfully and takes off running with him at her heels. They run and play like they are siblings like us.

After an hour of running, we both grab the clothes and shift back into our human form.

I step out behind the tree and look at Cam and wonder what he is thinking. I sigh and look around, happy that it's just us two at the moment.

"We should head back and get ready for the party," Cam says, turning to me with a small smile. "Yeah, we should," I replied, walking back with him.

The walk back is a comfortable silence as we let our wolves talk with one another.

"Conan says that we can't tell anyone the color of our wolves yet," Cam says, before we get to the house. "Sera says the same. I'm curious as to why, but she says in time we will know." I said, looking at him. He nods his head in agreement as we get in and go upstairs. We both go into our rooms and get ready for the party.

I put the dress on and some makeup to make my eyes pop. I choose to curl my hair and put it half up and half down. Once satisfied, I put a light spray of perfume on and gave myself a double take in the mirror. Wondering if that is really me. I glance at my desk and grab my favorite butterfly hairpin and slide it in my hair to complete the look.

I then exit the room and see Cam in his tux standing my the stairs waiting for me. I put my arm through his as we walked down the stairs to the common area where our party was going to be held. We walk there and head inside. Once inside, we are welcomed by the pack and our parents. Our parents come over to us and pull us into a hug.

"I cannot believe our little girl and boy are 17," mom says with tears in her eyes. "I know honey ther are growing up" My dad says as he pulls mom to his side, giving her a hug and kiss to the head. I watch them hoping that my mate is just as loving to me.

"Go have fun guys", my dad says before dragging my mom to go greet some other guests coming in.

I took a look around and tried to find Kasey since I hadn't seen her all day. Curious, I head over to the bar to grab some water when, all of a sudden, I get a whiff of something that smells like pine and smoke. Mate. Mate. Mate Seraphina sings in my head, jumping around excitedly.

I grabbed my water and followed the scent to just outside the doors of the arena. I hear whispers and laughs. I get a bad feeling but continue to go. When I get to a clearing, I see Kasey leaning against a tree, arms locked behind a male's neck. They are whispering sweet nothing's to each other. "Don't worry love, If I ever find my mate, I will reject them for you. I love you, and you will be the perfect Luna one day." He says to Her,

I gasp out loud and feel the eyes fall on me.
