Chapter 2: Betrayals

"I don't know what's going on. I have the camera ready, but... I really didn't see Miss Hurley," the middle-aged man was so frightened that he broke out in a cold sweat. Andrew's eyes were instantly filled with anger. "LOSER! You can't even r**e a woman. What else can I expect from you?" said Andrew. "You checked the hotel's surveillance, didn't you? Who slept with Joan then?" Andrew narrowed his eyes. "I have no idea. Except for the top-level VIP suite surveillance, which I don't have permission to access, I have watched everything. I didn't see Miss Hurley coming out of any room," said the man. Andrew's eyes darkened. Could it be that Joan went to the wrong floor to the VIP suite? "I've said everything I know. Master Andrew, what about the money you promised?" bowed and asked the middle-aged man. "You screwed up everything! Now you want money? Get out of here!" said Andrew with a fierce look. "Okay, fine." the middle-aged man trembled with fright. The man left, and Andrew was about to get back to the company when he accidentally saw Joan behind the lamppost. How long had she been here? "You CHEATED on me. How dare you come to me?" Andrew raised a cold smile after the momentary panic. "When I first met you three years ago, I was impressed by your calm demeanor. I have always been proud of you! I treat you so wholeheartedly, yet you... You want to destroy me in such a despicable way!" looking at the man in front of her who had fascinated her, Joan smiled bitterly. "Why are you doing this to me?" Joan stared at the man in front of her with hatred. "So...you heard everything I said just now?" Andrew looked at her face flushed with anger. "I was blind, so I mistakenly thought that you were my Mr. Right." Joan's eyes turned blurry, and her lips trembled. "Huh...Mr. Right?" Andrew was expiring with laughter. "What are you? A 15-year-old? Grow up! Wake up! It's just... the man who slept with you is not the one I arranged," said Andrew. "Actually, I wanted to break up with you that night because the girl I have always loved is Jenny, not you. By the way, as your ex-boyfriend, I would like to ask you how a one-night stand feels. Was it good?" continued Andrew with a smirk. "You're shameless!" Joan raised her hand in anger to slap him. "Who was that man?" Andrew held her hand easily, and his eyes shone fiercely. For some reason, Andrew felt uncomfortable if he didn't know the whole thing. Originally, her every move was under his firm control, but something went wrong. "Why should I tell you?" Joan looked at his angry face and couldn't help smiling sweetly, "Well, let me tell you. He is more attractive than you. A rich man with a nice shape and high status. Anyway, he is very pleasing to the eye!" Andrew's dark gaze instantly swept through Joan, and he wrapped his arms around Joan's waist fiercely. Joan stared in horror at his face that was about to get close, and his aggressive lips. What is he going to do? Does he want to kiss me? Joan thought, raising her leg abruptly and stepping on Andrew's toe with the heel of her high-heeled shoe. His approach made her sick. "Ouch!" Andrew's face twitched greatly in pain, and he couldn't stand still, "Damn it! Security, take her down..." "Yes, Master Andrew!" said the security guard. Joan turned pale in shock, quickly stopped a taxi, and left. "Son of a b***h. You're all f*****g idiots!" exclaimed Andrew. Joan returned to her apartment, but she found that her lock had been changed, and her key wasn't working anymore. What was going on? She went out in the morning, and it had only been three hours. Joan called the property manager, "Hello, I'm Joan from Room 205. Why can't I open my door?" "Hi, Miss Hurley. Your family said that you are going to study abroad. They have already checked out for you. They also pack everything for you and put it at the front desk. Please pick it up yourself," said the manager. "What? I wasn't even there. How can you check out without asking me?" said Joan angrily. "Oh, Miss Hurley, you still haven't paid the rent for last month. Your family has paid it off, and they paid this month's rent for you. Why shouldn't I believe them?" said the manager. Joan knew that it must be her cousin and aunt who did it. They were just despicable like that, and they didn't want to give up now that Joan was already notorious because the news said she cheated. Joan figured that she had to ask cousin Jenny and aunt Susan about this, and she left the apartment in anger. She arrived at her uncle's. Uncle Matt kept telling her off the moment she walked through the door. "Do you know that the Hurley family has offended the Wills family for you? Now, what are you doing at home? If Jenny hadn't put her mind to the overall situation and persuaded Master Andrew, the Hurley family would be SCREWED!" the more he talks, the angrier he gets. "It's all my fault. I didn't teach her well. I always thought that I should take more care of her since she doesn't have a mother, and I've never been too strict with her. That's why..." While stroking uncle Matt's chest to calm him down, aunt Susan said softly. "Uncle Matt, why don't you believe me? All this is because Jenny set me up. SHE is the one who forced me to drink, and she has already hooked up with Andrew," Joan's eyes were full of hatred, and she said with pale lips. "Nonsense! Joan, did you hear what you're saying? Jenny has always treated you like a sister. I never expected that that's how you think of her," the expression on Aunt Susan's face changed greatly to disappointment.
