Chapter 3: Getting Married

"Joan, you are 20 years old already. You are an adult now! Grow up! When you said you wanted to start your own business and drop out of school, I allowed you. Later, you wanted us to stay out of your relationship, and we did," said Matt earnestly. "You said you would be happy with Master Andrew. See what have you done? We're business partners, and how am I supposed to explain this to the Wills family? If it wasn't for Jenny's agreement to get engaged with Master Andrew, there was no way to end this farce," continued Matt angrily. "Even if it's true that I cheated when I was drunk, what about the share transfer? Jenny took advantage of me when I was drunk. She said it was an urgent document for me to sign," said Joan. "Joan, don't joke about this kind of thing. You signed on the paper. Think about it carefully. Did you sign it yourself when you were so happy after drinking?" Susan looked at Matt uneasily, then smiled and said. "Yeah! I signed it myself. These shares are the ONLY thing my parents left me. Am I so stupid to give it away?" smiled Joan sarcastically. The Hurley family really blinded Joan. Originally, she had a 30% share in the Hurley corporation. Uncle Matt said that he had very little say on some important occasions, so he borrowed 10% from her when she was 15. Matt promised to return it to Joan when she was an adult, and the company grew. But now? He even snatched the other 20%. "How can you say that? Are you accusing me of being bad to you? We raised you up, and I've always treated you as my own daughter, and you had everything the same as Jenny did," Susan's eyes were red, and her tears fell down on her face fakely. Matt had been irritated enough, and he was even more furious hearing them quarreling at that moment. "Shut up! People are still buzzing about the news. Are you done here?" Matt slapped the table angrily. "Joan, the older you get, the more you realize you have no desire for listening to our words. If that's the case, you shouldn't have come back here in the future! I've done my part to raise you up, you can leave this family now," said uncle Matt. Matt went upstairs angrily after saying that, and he didn't look at Joan again. "Don't mind him. He said that only because he was angry," Susan smiled and persuaded Joan. "Save it, aunt Susan. Uncle Matt isn't here, and you can stop pretending. Did you already know that Jenny and Andrew are together?" said Joan coldly, wiping her tears. "I do. They look great together," the smile on Susan's face froze suddenly, and she looked at Joan contemptuously. "You finally admit it. You guys put something in the glass of wine you gave me the night before, did you?" the chill on Joan's face deepened. "You've slept with a man, and there's no need to talk about this right now. As for the shares, consider them a reward to us for raising you in the Hurley family. Stay away from us in the future. We don't want to get involved in any of your troubles! f**k off!" said aunt Susan angrily. "I don't need you in the future, and I will take back what belongs to me one day." unstoppable anger flashed in Joan's eyes. Joan wandered aimlessly in the street, and she looked fiercely while thinking of the shares being taken away, the fact that uncle Matt and aunt Susan blinded her, and Andrew's ruthless betrayal... "I would like to speak to Mr. Dinkins," Joan took out her phone and called Mr. Rivers. "Hello, Miss Hurley. Please wait a moment, I'll transfer your call," said Mr. Rivers. "What's the answer?" a few seconds later, Joan heard a low and sexy voice. "Let's make a deal, but I have one condition," said Joan. "What is it?" said Brian softly, but his tone was domineering and majestic. "I want revenge. Can you help with that after we get married? I want to take back the shares my parents left me," asked Joan with deep hatred. "As long as you marry me, you can get everything you want: revenge, fame, fortune, and status. I only ask you one thing in return, that is to give me a baby." chuckled Brian lightly with a captivating charm. They scheduled the wedding for 7pm tonight. Penniless and homeless, Joan just waited by the side of the road for Brian's people to pick her up. It was funny to look back on what happened recently. Three days ago, Joan was reported cheating, and now she was going to marry someone else. Everything had been turned upside down in the last three days, and it was not the same as before. Joan was in a complicated mood about this. She posted some words on her sss as if she was commemorating all this. I may be getting married. After posting, some reporters suddenly noticed her on the side of the road. They swarmed her in droves, surrounding her. "Miss Hurley, is it true that the Hurley family has severed kinship with you?" "Why did you steal your cousin's fiancé?" "It is said that you failed to seduce your future brother-in-law and were r***d instead. Is this true?" Sharp questions came one after another. I had such a bad day. Why do they keep asking these kinds of questions? No, I didn't do anything wrong. It's all their fault! Joan adjusted the angle, facing the camera, smiling charmingly, "I am in a good mood today, so let me answer your questions." "Firstly, I did cut all ties with the Hurley family. Secondly, I didn't steal my cousin's fiancé. SHE was the mistress with ulterior motives. Thirdly, I DID cheat on Andrew, and that's because I'm bothered by his erectile dysfunction. I'm not interested in men with erection problems." said Joan, with an evil smile.
