The Purple Hyacinth
Once upon a time, there was a little flower with tiny bunched-up purple petals. This beautiful purple flower sat on top of a hill under a big willow tree. This purple flower was never alone, she had many different kinds of flowers surrounding her. One bright sunny day the purple flower sat on the hill. In the distance, she saw a little girl starting to climb the hill. This little girl had red hair in cute little pink tails with a yellow ribbon tied at the top. She wore a yellow dress with white poke dots and black shiny shoes. This little girl’s mother was at the bottom of the hill, she also had red hair at shoulder length. The mom wore a faded red t-shirt and blue cropped jeans. On this beautiful sunny day, this little girl got to the top of the hill. She started to pick flowers and purple flowers hoping that this little girl would pick her. But that never happened so the purple flower was disappointed but she chose not to give up and hoped her day would come. The next day came, and the little girl showed up once more. The little girl climbs the hill to pick the flowers. However, the purple flower was still not picked. The two showed up every day for weeks but the little girl never picked the purple flower. The purple flower was losing hope every day that passed. She wondered, am I damaged or not pretty enough to be picked? Then one day the pair never showed up to pick flowers. The purple flower was confused about where they were but at the same time, she didn’t care because she would never been picked. The weather became colder and the leaves on the willow tree began to fall. The purple flower that sat on that hill became more and more depressed. The purple flower began to droop the more days went by. By now the little girl and her mother have been gone for months now. One day the little girl showed up but this time not with the mother though possibly her father. The little wore her hair in her signature pink tails but this time not in her usual yellow and white dress but in a black one. The man wore a black suit, he watched the little girl climb the hill. The little one got to the top of the hill, she did her usual thing picking every flower but the purple one. Then the little girl was about to turn around to leave but she stopped. This little girl looked down at the purple flower, she saw how sad the flower had looked. She leaned down finally picked up, the purple flower, and walked back down the hill. The little girl walked across the grass with the flower in her left hand and her right hand in the man's hand. The little girl and the man came to a pre-covered grave, the little girl put a group of flowers on the grave. But the purple didn’t get put down, the little girl held tight to Flower like she was making sure not to let go. As soon as the little girl gets home to the house full of sad people, she climbs the stairs. As she gets to the top, she walks to a closed door. She opens it and walks into the room. There is a cup on the dresser, the little girl grabs it. The cup still has some water in it, the little girl carries the cup down the stairs. The little girl walks to a table that sits in the corner of the living room. On the table sits a picture of the mother with candles around it. The little girl puts the cup down on the table and puts the purple flower in the cup. The little girl stands there staring at her mother’s picture, the purple flower watches the little girl burst into tears. The man from before walks up to the little girl hugs her and says “Your mother loved you so much.” The little girl speaks in between her sobs “Then- why did- she- leave me?” The man looked at the picture and then back at the little girl and said: “Sweetie, I know this is hard to understand now but momma was struggling inside.” The little girl continued to sob and replied “Daddy, I miss her.” The father looked down at his daughter with tears in his eyes and said “I do too, sweetie.” The father hugs his daughter one last time before walking away and saying under his breath “Why did she have to kill herself and not think of her daughter's grief.” Days passed and the more the purple flower lived in the house and not alone on the hill. The little girl’s father ended up putting the purple flower in a pot by the window. Years passed and the girl grew up always missing her mother and wishing she thought twice about what pain and suffering she would cause with the choices she made. As the flower grew, the only thing that kept the purple flower going was watching the little girl grow up. The purple flower knew that the girl needed something positive and beautiful in her life to keep her going since she lost her mother at a young age. As 20 years pass the girl now has a little girl of her own. The purple flower sits in a beautiful garden with lots of other flowers. The girl tells her daughter about “The purple flower and how it was there throughout her life as she grew up.” The girl tells her daughter “That she will never face anything as she did at her age.” The purple flower knew that her job was done because she taught her little girl the life lesson about having a friend who never leaves your side even when their life gets better.
