Maryam opened her eyes and saw Danny sitting and watching her. She saw intense care, love, affection in his eyes. She was still finding it hard to believe.
On the day she had the attack, she was barely conscious. She could sense the things happening around her, see but could not talk or move. She could see the fear and agitation on Danny’s face, the way he held her and something in her felt she needed to be strong for him.
Miraculously, she found the strength to utter one sentence : take me home.
It was a dicey decision to make. One part told him that she did not know what she was saying. How could someone who was dying be taken home instead of a hospital? Her parents were both lawyers and not medical doctors.
