Chapter Six

The party's going well so far. Well, again, make outs were exchanged here and there, half naked girls and boys running around and some were already drunk. Really, they should mind the amount of shots they take. I drank orange juice throughout the whole party, and watched Scott as he walked around drinking, playing truth or dare and making out with random girls I never even knew. Jenna, on the other hand, was currently having fun playing truth or dare with her friends. Not as bad as Scott's group truth or dare, but it's truth or dare. I sat in one corner, reading. Most of them were shocked that the student councillor would actually come, and the rest barely cared. I tried to socialise with the people there, I really tried. Even tried to read a few times. Yes it's stupid but what else was I supposed to do when I feel awkward? But most of the people there won't let me. They would either threw stuff at me, spill their drinks or urge me to join them. "That's it, I'm leaving," I hissed at Scott, but he pulled me back. "You can't stay for a bit more?" Scott asked, pouting. "No. I can't stand any of this anymore." And with that, I walked out of Rachel's house. Really, this is frustrating. "Let me take you home," Scott insisted. "You can't," I replied, biting my lip. It's my family. “also you’re drunk.” “No I’m not,” he insisted “That’s what every drunk person would say.” I deadpanned. “And I really can’t stay, I’m sorry.” "Why not? Is it because of your parents?" Scott asked, raising an eyebrow. I nodded, not wanting him to know no more. "I won't go inside your house. Just outside to drop you off." "You're not gonna let this off easy, aren't you?" "Nope." I sighed, giving in. He grinned, then led me to his car. I buckled up the seatbelt as he start the engine. ### "Here we are," Scott announced, facing me. "You sure you'll be okay being alone?" I nodded, sending him a grateful smile. I walked to my door, then turned behind to face Scott. He shot me a reassuring smile before driving off. "Oh? You're back, Arielle?" My mom asked, putting plates away. "Yeah," I simply replied, running up the stairs. "How was the party?" "Good." And with that, I slammed my door. I don't feel like dealing with my mom anymore. Same goes for my dad. I sat on the bed, biting my lip. Revision. Physics test. Right. I walked over to my study table, then opened my physics textbook to revise. It's only been 3 minutes and I can barely concentrate. Not in this state. I closed my textbook, then laid on my bed. Slowly, I closed my eyes, falling into a deep sleep. ### I heard a rustling sound. It came from outside, but it sounded so near. There was a 'thud', a sliding sound, then a 'thud' was heard again. Sleepily, I opened my eyes, then turned. Scott was standing there. In my room. Brushing himself off. I quickly got up, and in instincts, I threw a pillow at him. He caught it flawlessly, then pressed a finger on his lips. "What are you doing here?" I hissed, throwing another pillow, which he caught with no effort at all. "ShH." "Go away! You're not Margo!" I snapped, throwing him a pillow. Again, he caught it flawlessly. "Margo? Who the f**k is Margo?" I gaped at his question, then threw a book at him again this time. He caught it flawlessly... Again. "Paper Towns?" Scott asked, looking at the book cover. "Yes. Now get out from where you came from." I ordered, pointing at the window. "I can't," Scott replied, putting my book on the table. "Why not?" "The police." I widened my eyes, and I swear, I'd throw my bed at him if I could. "Then I'll be the one getting in trouble!" I hissed. "Not if the police catches us," Scott said, shrugging. "Can I stay overnight?" "What? No! Get out!" I ordered once again, glaring at him. "I can? That's so nice of you." Scott replied, closing my room window. "Scott!" I warned, but he simply ignored me. He sat on the bed, then opened up his phone. "If you're sleeping on the bed, where am I supposed to sleep?" I asked, putting my hands on my hips. "On the bed with me, obviously." Scott stated. "Scott, you can't be here!" I warned him again. "Your parents?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. "Well.. Yeah, that's one. And because if the school finds out about this, they'll-" I couldn't even finish that sentence when a crack sound was heard. "Think about the kids!" I heard my mom shout. Damn it. What happened now? "Stay here," I commanded to Scott, before running out. Josh had already beaten me to it, and is currently looking down at the railing. "I've had enough of you cheating. Because of you, Josh is a drug addict!" My mom shouted. My father stood up, then hit the table. Hard. "Well, fix something about that f*****g depression of yours! And for god's sake, stop drinking!" "You're the problem here!" "Me? Really, Kathy? Do you want a divorce? I wouldn't mind." My father announced, glaring at my mom. My mom didn't say anything, but stood there quietly. "That's what I thought," My father spat, before walking into the room and slamming the door. My mother sat slowly, before weeping quietly. Josh groaned, then punched the wall. "Your hands are gonna bleed. Josh, stop." I warned, holding his hand as so that he won't punch no more. Josh gave a loud groan, then walked into his room and slammed the door. I gave a sigh then entered my room. Scott was there, with a blank look on his face. "I didn't know your family's condition was this bad," Scott remarked. "Well, guess you do now. Scott, please don't tell anyone about." I pleaded, chewing my lower lip. "I won't," Scott assured, before continuing. "If.." "If?" "You'd let me stay here for the night." I pursed my lips again, thinking about this over and over. Without thinking the fourth time, I agreed. Scott grinned, then threw himself on the bed. "Well? Come on." "How am I even supposed to sleep with an insect beside me?" I asked, glaring at him. "You just gotta live with that insect," Scott chuckled, lying on the bed. I sighed, lying down beside him. It was really awkward at first, but I did hear a faint snore coming from behind. I gave another sigh, then slowly closed my eyes.
