EMILY "I want those papers on my desk by tomorrow morning. Before I even get here. We're on a tight schedule people! Keep working!" I exclaimed with courage. I walked into my office and went through my files for upcoming articles. I needed something new and something fresh. We had a month before I took leave for my wedding in December. My wedding day was on the first day of winter. My mother insisted on Christmas Day but it would be too chaotic. The closer my wedding day came, the more I thought about how everything is falling into place. I was going to marry Noah. My celebrity. I smiled at the thought. I loved him and he loved me. We balance out the time we get to spend together and our careers. He was so sweet. Him waiting an entire year and some months without s*x is romantic. I told him I wanted to wait until our wedding night and the wait will be much more pleasurable. Though I'm no virgin, I wanted to be sure this relationship was not based on s*x. Noah understood and went with anything that made me comfortable. Which made him all the sweetest. Our relationship does have it's problems. Being engaged to a celebrity was hard. We had zero privacy with all the cameras and paparazzi and he's always called in for a new role in a movie right after the other. But we would push through and spend as much time as we could together. And I did not complain about the free time we had for each other. A knock sounded on my door, taking me from my thoughts. "Come in." The door opened and my face beamed at the sight of my lovely bean. "Auntie Em!" Destiny's exciting voice fills my eardrums. "Dessy Pooh!" I smiled with open arms. She ran around my desk and jumped in my arms, holding me tight. "I missed you." "I missed you too. It's been a minute." And it has. Wedding preparations and making sure my business will be alright. Destiny was five and she grew to look more and more like her father every day. A little bit on Jen but more of Diego. "Good afternoon, do I get a greeting?" Jennifer's voice filled the room. I looked her way to see her and her little one in a baby carrier strapped around her upper body. "Jennifer, how are you?" I smiled, standing to my feet and going over to side hug her. "Great. How are you?" "I'm pushing through the day," I said, smiling down at the little one that slept on her chest. "He's beautiful. You've got your wish." I chuckled. Jennifer took her fingers and ran them through the little curls of baby Dominic's hair. He was her twin and that's what she wished before the delivery. Diego has his twin and Jennifer had hers. "I sure did. He has some of his father's features but he's more me just as Destiny is more him." I chuckled. "So, how is Diego holding up here in Florida?" "He's found something at a mechanic company not too far from here. He enjoys the work surprisingly but I just hope he is being careful." I nod. "That's great. I'm happy he's doing what he enjoys. Now, what about you? You still have a job here you know." "I know." She sighed. "I'm thinking about working at home until Dominic turns one. He's almost there but I just don't trust leaving him at daycare yet. He's so small." I smiled. "I know. You were the same way with Destiny." I looked her way and she was sitting in my chair, playing on her tablet. We took a seat on the small sofa I had in my office in the corner and we talked about a few things. It was nice to see my friend face to face instead of talking with her on the phone. "So, you're getting married soon. How do you feel?" "I feel a bit nervous. It's just been a lot to grasp. He's a full-time actor and he's always getting calls in for movie roles and offers. Also, we barely have any privacy. We can't even go out without having someone take our picture and whatnot." "I understand completely." Jennifer smiled and I smiled back because I did understand. She went through so much back in Canada with Diego and his royal family along with his stupid ex-fiancé and the many camera people. It was hectic for her. But she found a way to make it work with Diego and so did he. They are living a good life with their two beautiful children. Destiny was six and little Dom will be turning one in a couple of months. Sadly, children may never be in my future because Noah was unsure of wanting kids. I still debate on talking to him about working everything out about that topic. He told me once that he didn't see kids in our future and he rather not deal with a crying baby. Back then, I thought about that and how this might not work but I gave it a try and we are fine. After a good hour and a few minutes of catching up with my friend, Jennifer, and the kids left and I continued to work until it was time for me to leave. I cut the lights off in my office and locked it. The entire building was empty of my office workers except for the security guards. I typed away on my phone, telling Noah I was on my way home while walking to the main doors. I pushed the door to the entrance of my building and I gasped when I hit someone with it. "Oh, I'm sorry!" I spoke quickly and sincerely. "Are you..." my voice trailed off when I saw the person, the man, back away into the light and my heart thumped. "...okay?" My voice was quiet and hushed, didn't know what was wrong with me. Of course, I did. Marcus was standing before me. "I am." He smiles. "How are you, Emily?"
