Ashriel’s POV The door clicked shut, and I just stood in the infirmary, the space she had just filled feeling hollow and impossibly large. Every instinct in me screamed to chase her, to grab her arm and drag her back to the bed, to finish what we had started. I wanted to finish the argument, to force her to see the truth of what was between us, to make her understand the storm she stirred inside me. But another part of me, a small, rational part, knew that pushing her would only make her retreat further. She was like a wild thing, cornered and ready to fight.
