My steps faltered, and my breath hitched when my gaze landed on the familiar structure. How did I end up walking to my house? Correction; it wasn’t my home anymore. It was just the place where my mother and elder sister lived. A rueful sigh escaped my lips and my grip on the handle of my suitcase tightened as my mind veered to the last time I had come here. Two years ago, after Carla came to Alberton High and scolded me for not taking care of mom, I became worried. So, I had come to visit mom. To say that she wasn’t thrilled would be an understatement. Every single word she said is stark clear in my mind as if it was just yesterday. *** “Why are you here?” She snapped, giving me the look of disdain that was typical of her. “Why did you have to show that cursed face of yours to me?”
