This is not my room
“Princess Amaya, wake up….” If I just pretend that I can’t hear her will she go away? I’m so tired. Wait, is she talking to me… I’m not a princess… why is someone talking to me in my dream? “Princess Amaya, sweetheart you need to get up.”
I open one eye and see a random woman with shoulder length dark hair looking at me. She doesn’t scare me though? She’s older, maybe late 60s and has a kind looking face with beautiful blue eyes. She looks gentle, like she’s had a nice life and she speaks with a quiet, calming voice. She’s dressed in what looks like a traditional black and white maid outfit. But why is she in my room… wait… my room….?
Opening my other eye I look around, above me is a large wooden four poster bed with pale pink curtains either side with long gold ties. The roof has an ornate white marble coving around the edges, in the centre is a beautiful mural picture covering the entirety of the roof. It looks like a sunset - reds, yellows, oranges painted in vibrant swirling patterns. It’s really pretty. I sit up and look around the room, it’s huge… woah! The walls are a white colour - in contrast with the roof. On the walls are multiple beautiful paintings of a girl who looks a few years younger than me with long flowing blonde hair and a couple more of a family - they look like they’ve just come out of a fashion magazine, I wonder who they are and why do I feel like I know them. At the end of the bed is a white scallop chaise lounger with a swirling gold bottom and a gold nightstand either side of the bed. The left one has a crystal glass half full of water and some sort of small box, the other has a silver light on it in the shape of a ball. I can see a gold vintage dressing table to the left of the room with a matching chair and velvet pink topped seat. It’s full of perfumes, makeup and hair accessories. Further down the room in the corner are two closed doors, I imagine one could be an entrance and one maybe an en-suite. At the end of the room ahead of me, two large patterned gold vintage wardrobes stand in the centre with a similar pattern as the rest of the furniture and a free standing gold mirror in the middle of them. “Princess are you going to get up, you have a busy day ahead of you. You can get dressed first and then…..”
To my right hand side are large white balcony doors. The woman has now moved from my bed and over to the doors and is opening the heavy gold curtains. She’s talking but I’m not hearing her. This is so fancy, I feel like I’m in one of the lovely bedrooms in some sort of romance novel… come to think of it this whole decor seems familiar somehow. It’s definitely nothing like my small, two bedroom shared flat I share with my awful roommate Sophie. As she opens the curtains, I see the most amazing view I’ve ever seen in my whole life. The balcony looks large from here, it has white metal patterned banisters and it looks out on to what seems like an endless garden with beautiful flowers and cobbled pathways everywhere. There must be one of every single flower that exists in that garden, I’ve never seen so many flowers! It’s a rainbow of colour and smells. In the centre of the garden is a huge circular light grey stone fountain. It has two dolphins jumping over each other in the air in the middle of it with water coming out of their mouths. Four white benches are places around the fountain with little flowers at the bottom of them. Further back I can see a huge maze. The smell of freshly cut grass and flowers starts to waft in to the room. It’s official, I’ve either lost the plot or I’m still dreaming.
