PROLOGUE
Assholes, Janice heaved heavily as she ran, assholes, they are all asshole, every single one of them, she stopped suddenly as the thunder rattles in the sky angrily, as if it wasn't bad enough that she was humiliated totally, the rain decided to pour heavily at that moment. She ran as she search for shelter but there was none , all the roadside were filled with flowers endlessly. She stumbled suddenly, her heels had gotten stucked in between a pavement, she pulled her shoe with all her strength pulling out the heels in the process, that was the final straw, Janice leg gave out as she fell as stumbled into a fit of tears, how did everything start to go wrong, a couple of weeks ago she had been glad to be alive, and on her way to achieve her dream with full scholarship, and her future and never looked brighter, but today, she wondered if she even have a future As if taking pity on her, the rain let up and dies down to a light drizzle, she pulled her self up and made her way to the nearest busstop, with her shoe in her hand, even her car had given up on her this morning, it seams that's what everyone does, give up, it seams to be the latest trend in her life, okay maybe not the latest but at least the constant one, her father had walked out in them the morning of her fifth birthday, her mother had taken after him and also left on her seventh birthday, although she had never been home constantly since her father left, she probably saw her twice after Candice was born but she left permanently on her seventh birthday never giving her a backwards glance, now it was her grandmother, although she couldn't exactly fault the poor woman, after all the insult rained on her by that wretched awful family, she was surprised her heart hadn't given out too, and that foolish Candice, how dare she try to commit suicide, what gives her the right to think she's in great deserve of that luxury, although it might be what everyone does in her family, it isn't her, she refused to, she might never make it to Hollywood but she will become a star in this little ones life, she rubbed her stomach unconsciously. ***** "What in the good..." the nurse exclaimed as she saw a dripping Janice "Hi, there yourself," she peeped behind the nurse and stared at her sister, "how's she?" "Better than you, I'm certain." she returned the chart back to the foot of the bed then turned to Janice, "Follow me." She led her to the nurse changing room, "there's the shower, get a hot one." she opened her locker and removed a dress, "this should fit you." she place the dress on the rack, "it's not exactly suitable for this weather but it's better than what you have on." she picked a red card from her pocket, "hand this to the laundry assistant when you hand over your clothes, they will work on it faster." she turned and walked away Janice smiled as she left, this is the first silver lining she saw and it gave her hope ***** "Hey?" Candice turned as she came awake, "why are you there?" she asked about the drip attached to her sister who was on the bed next to her Janice smiled at her sister, "mine is explainable, the question Is why are you there?" she continue jotting on her note pad "Because you won't let me die."she mumbled "And why should you die, why should you get the easy way out when it no longer your life?" Candice raised a brow and looked at her sister "yeah, you've lost that right." "Have I?" she scoffed. "Yeah, my kid is going to need, his or her aunt when he or she arrives." "What?" Candice sat up, then look at her questioningly, "you are also pregnant?" "Yeah and I almost lost it." "Oh Janice!" she exclaimed Janice took a quick glance at her sister, "what was that for, it's not as if I wanted the baby anyway." "Come on your boyfriend loves you." "Doesn't matter, when the nurse told me the blood I saw was me on my way to loosing my baby..." she looked at her sister, "I thought good, I should get rid of it, I should punch myself in the stomach or something, just for a second, just for a tiny bit of a second, I thought loosing my baby was my best option, just... Just for a second... I..." she sobbed Candice moved to her bed and hugged her, "I'm so sorry, I'm so so sorry this is all my fault, I'm so sorry, this... This ... Is all my fault." she cried The sisters stood there crying in eachother arms till the nurse came in "Ahem, ahem, you girls are definitely a strange bunch but I have a better news for you." Candice went back to her bed as Janice wipe her tears "What is it?" Janice asked "Like I said you girls are strange." she removed Candice drip then wrap and dump it in a bin, "is there a twin gene in your family somewhere?" "Yeah, our nana is... was a twin." "Wow that must be it," she pushed her trolley towards Janice, "I don't know how lonely your world has been but it certainly isn't going to be anymore." she remove Janice drip, "congratulations it a double heartbeat." "Meaning?" Janice looked at her wide eyed "You are also having twins." "What?" the girls exclaimed. "Hell no!" Candice groaned The nurse turned to Candice, "go downstairs for your scan, the doctor wants your lungs check again before you are discharge and as for you..." she turned to Janice, "Dr. Rain wants you to do your scan again, she wants to confirm the double heartbeat." The sisters looked at eachother in shock, it definitely wasn't getting better The nurse turned as she was pushing the trolley out, she noticed the dismay look on their face, she moved closer to them, "I don't know what you girls have been through but every life is a blessing and it has it own purpose in the universe, she handed each of them a business card, if you decide it's too much noise you can call the number but if you think it's just the right amount of noise, then have faith there's a sun behind those clouds." Janice looked at the card, "Nurse Shelby? "Huh?" she turned "Thank you." Shelby winked, "girls got to get girls back." she walked away without a backwards glance. ***** "What are you thinking about?" Candice took her seat opposite her sister. "What else is there to think about?" Janice looked at her. "I'll give the babies up." "Candice!!!" She smiled sadly, "I'm not ready to be a mother yet, I'm just, 15, there's a whole new world out there and I want to explore, I don't want to spend the rest of my life resenting my children over what I could have had. I can't wait to be done with high school, I'll leave this town and never return." "Yes, you are 15 and a high schooler yet you chose to date a college graduate." Candice stood immediately, "we are not doing this again." "Yes we are, I don't know why you don't want to admit it, this guy r***d you, this is statutory r**e and he should be jailed for this." She went to the window, "I love him Janice..." she turned to her sister, "and I thought he loved me too and when you love someone there's no calculation, no thinking, just happiness, I don't know why he said what he said and frankly right now I don't care and I'm sorry I didn't see all those mean calculative side of him but I love him and I will not trick my self to believing otherwise, I'm an equal party in this, she held her sisters shoulder and if I think there is a better parents for them out there then I don't mind handling them over but I'll not let my children live their life with a criminal tag on them, I'll not have people point to them as the children of a criminal." she picked a new carton, "I'll go pack Nana's clothes." Janice watched as her sister headed upstairs, while she had always been the sensible one, Candice had always been the flighty one, never taking anything seriously and never taking responsibility for anything, she had always taken the easiest road out, even when that bastard had insulted their whole family, she had thought it was best to take her life so naturally as her sister, she had assumed she was abandoning the children but for the first time, it seams hers sister has finally grown up, she was definitely taking responsibility for her actions Janice headed upstairs, she dropped her notepad on the pile of clothes in front of Candice "What is it?" Candice picked the note "Check the last page." She opened to the last page then read it, after a few seconds she asked, "what is this?" "What I want to do." Candice looked at her baffled "...I'm not giving up." she explained. "I know, I aren't too... not any more, I just think it's better to give them to someone who could care and love them better." "I know... I know you aren't giving up..." Janice sat next to her, "...it's took me a while but I recognize that and I'm not giving up either, there's a wide world out there and I'm going to do everything I can to explore it but also to give this precious gems the best of it, even if it means adoption." "So you are giving them up?" "No, I don't know yet, my roommate in college was from a foster home, she ended there when her supposed adopted family had their own child then decide they didn't want her any more." "What... that awful, is that allowed?" "No, but we won't be there to monitor them every day, so I want us to be careful, if paraventure we give them up, I want us to know it's the best home for them, Ivy hated the fact that she was never given a choice and more than that.... she hated her adopted parents she loathe and blames her mother more." Candice heaved, "fine, if I have even the tiniest doubt, I will never give them up." "Good, let's finish packing, we got so much to do before her burial." she patted her thigh then went downstairs.
