“This is amazing. I had no idea this was here,” Audrey said as Ross gave her a tour of the South Tampa Bay Community Center.
Classrooms, meeting rooms, indoor racquetball courts, two indoor basketball courts, a pool, and a cafeteria were surrounded by a soccer field, two baseball diamonds, a dog park, and in a far corner, the space was divided between a skate park and an RC course.
In the courtyard at the front of the main building, tables and canopies were set up. Audrey and Ross stood in the lobby near the information desk. Ross pointed out pictures of the mayor and other celebrities at the ribbon-cutting ceremony twenty years ago. Photographs covered one wall depicting the growth of the Center.
Audrey looked out the side windows and asked, “What’s happening there?”
