This years event
It was a cool sunny day at birch view high school as I was walking in the hall talking to my friend Chris. “ So are you ready for the ceremony?” Chris asked excitedly and I just got a disappointed look on my face “don't worry Olivia you'll find a guy someday” said Chris “or a girl” I chimed. “What” said Chris in a shocked tone “what” I replied sounding just as shocked as him. We walked a little bit longer until we ran into June who was the way to view the ceremony. As her and Chris talked as we walked I, started thinking about the ceremony, in retrospect it is kinda weird you pick someone and all the people who got picked stand in a big line and it's divided in the middle between girls and guys, after that the people who chose the ones in line go to their person and are then set to be married. But the only problem with it is. . . My train of thought was cut off by June asking me a question. “So do you have anyone picked” “ no… but I plan on asking out the person who gets stood up” I said half heartedly. We entered the gym and went to find our seats; see though that's the problem with this event it usually ends with a person being stood up in front of everyone,a lot of the time though it's a guy so this year I'm kind of hoping it's a girl (p.s I'm totally gay). The ceremony started as it usually did the announcer talking about what the event was and its importance while the chosen filed in. One of them caught my attention immediately, she was dead center and taller than most of the other girls around her, (from what I could tell) she had green eyes, and bright pink hair you could see from a mile away. As I was zoning out and staring in her direction when June tried to get my attention. “Hello Earth to annoying.” She said jokingly. “Sorry.” I said. “I was just looking at something.” “Something or someone.”she said, I didn't respond. The ceremony went on with the guys going to their choices first; during this period me and the girl locked eyes a couple of times each time smiling at one another. Once the guys were done it was the girls turn.. When their turn started her the remaining people got really excited. But as they started pairing up she got more and more sad and disappointed; eventually it was just her standing in the middle of all the happy couples, in tears.
