Chapter I: Shadows Gathering
Darkness was Darian's best friend. He didn't need light to know where he was or what he wanted. His steps were carefully calculated, sound only at moments when his heart was beating hard, loaded with the intention of revenge that had always been his only engine in this cruel world.
His car jumped through abandoned roads, surrounded by the silence of the night, which occasionally broke itself on the impact of his engine. That journey was not just a distance crossing, it was a new step towards what he thought was the expected end.
Elenia, whisper her own name, like a dream, or maybe a nightmare. That was the moment he had long waited for: to see it again, but this time he had no feelings other than those of malice.
Since he left his life years ago, his heart has been overwhelmed by shadows. It cannot be believed that that good girl who lived between the walls of his heart has turned into something else, something completely dark.
He arrived at the place I had always heard of: the demolished palace. Elenia knew a day like this would come, but she didn't expect it to be now. When and where he stands now, truth meets betrayal, love with revenge.
As Elenia watched the view from her window, her eyes watched the dark road leading to the palace. Her heart was beating fast, not fear, but longing. She knew it was coming back, and the moment she had waited for had come.
He didn't forget it, and revenge was etched in his soul as if it had been enshrined in the wall of time. But he did not know that Elenia was not the girl he knew in the past. There were things he didn't count, other dark threads in her world that made her heart harsh as a stone.
A few moments of heavy silence passed before the ringing of the bell was heard announcing its arrival. Elenia stood in front of the door, her eyes filled with inexplicable expressions. Was she ready to meet him? Was she the one she would finally retaliate against?
Darian entered the palace in steady steps, and his heart does not acknowledge weakness. That was the moment he had decided to leave no room for remorse. When the eyes came together, everything had changed at that moment.
"Welcome to my hell..." Darian whispered, as if the words had come out of his mouth with some irony, but it was like truth. In the end, it was this war between them that would determine the fate of everything.
Elenia answered it in a calm voice, but she has a sharp look in her eyes, as if to say, "We'll see who will ignite hell first."
The air in the palace was still and heavy, as if history itself had frozen in these dark corners. Darian was standing in the middle of the room, watching the place with fossilized eyes, like he was seeing it for the last time, or maybe for the first time. In his eyes there was a mixture of different feelings, some of which did not acknowledge vulnerability, while others carried part of the grief that remained hidden deep down.
Elenia, who stood steps away from him, had in her heart intertwined feelings. How can revenge be so close, and at the same time so far away? How could she suffer from someone who had taken her to hell in the past, while at the same time feeling something else growing in her heart, something she could not explain?
At that moment, Darian recalled how that room was filled with light in the past, and how Elenia was smiling at him with all innocence, as if everything was under control. But now she's not that girl anymore. In her eyes there was something else, something dark reflecting the shadows of the years that had passed, years that were full of betrayal and grief.
"You're really here..." Darian whispered low, as if making sure it existed, like a fantasy, something he wished to see again, but at the same time he did not want to face.
Elenia looked at it with caution, but there were challenges in her outlook. "You told me earlier that I'd be in hell, didn't you?" She said, with a light smile on her lips.
Darian smiled sarcastically, offering a step forward. "If you consider this to be your hell, you don't mind being in the same place."
He felt insidious. She had a tough heart, but also knew how to balance her cruelty and vulnerability. She knew that the day would come, but she didn't expect that day to carry these intertwined emotions.
"Do you think I came here to talk about the past?" Darian said, as he approached her more. "I'm here to take my right, to take what's mine."
The sound in his tone carried something of a threat, but it also carried a passion that could not be ignored. Words of revenge were scattered from his lips, but he felt something else burning in his heart, something he could not yet admit.
Elenia did not back down, although her heart was beating quickly. Darian was in front of her, and that person represented everything he was hurting her, and he also represented what she was looking for deep down. Perhaps it was the malice that brought them together, and perhaps it was love that would ultimately judge them.
"If you have come to take what belongs to you, be prepared to take it from you forcefully, because I will not allow you to scan my past so easily." Elenia said in a faint voice, but her words were heavy.
Darian shook his head, then made another step. "You don't know what revenge means. You don't know how your mind can burn with a fire of malice that never goes out. "
At that moment, there was a kind of silent understanding between them. Both were trapped in an inevitable game, where there was no clear end. Every move was calculated carefully, and every word carried with it a veiled challenge.
But despite all this, there was no room to back down now. This moment, standing in front of each other, meant the beginning of something bigger, something that will change their lives forever.
Darian, coming closer to her, whispered in her ear: "If you want to know how revenge can be... Let me show you. "
