WE ARE MEANT TO BE
WE ARE MEANT TO BE STORY BY IDOWU SARAH.
Chief Badmus and Chief Gboyega are childhood friends. They are not only childhood friends, they are also business partners.
(In a beautifully furnished slandered suite, the two friends are seen chatting and enjoying their drinks. The good thing about them is, they don’t womanize. They believe it will cause a set back in their business. After they witness the downfall of a friend by one of his hot legs, they dear not try out.)
Chief, chief, the biggest man in town, Chief Gboye hails his friend.
See who is talking, no be you we dey follow? Me sef dey hail o.
They both discussed for a long time about business before Chief Badmus suggested that their two children marry each other for their friendship to last.
Wow, that is a wonderful idea. I don’t mind, those two will be great together and am sure everyone will be excited when we break the news.
Chief Badmus has 3 children. The first child was a female Tayo, and she took over her father’s company in Ghana after she graduated and she got married to a Ghanaian and had 2 kids for him.
The second child, lovely, preferred to be called lovely rather than her native name, Funmi. After she graduated, her father expected her to run the business with him, but she said she wanted to make a name for herself, so she went to work for another company, hoping to start her own company too.
People did not know who she was because the Badmus are rich and famous, not until the day her father came to tell the company she was her daughter and that they should treat her well. Though it was her hard work that gave her all the promotions she got, her father's action bought her security and respect. She even runs her own fashion boutique and supermarket that only her family knows about.
She had always been in and out of relationships because all they wanted was her money, so she then gave up. Then she met a C E O online. Although they did not meet, they held on to their relationship.
Badmus Junior is the only boy and the baby of the house, he is still at 300 hundred at university. After graduating, his father planned to send him abroad to do his masters and after that he would come back to take over the company for papa Badmus to rest.
In Chief Gboyega’s family, Chief Gboyega has just two children. The first child, Tade, took over his father's second company after his graduation. He was old enough to marry but he told his father countless times that he is not ready for marriage. Though there is someone he is engaged to be married to.
The second child, Bimpe, is the same age as lovely and they are both childhood friends just like their parents.
She works as the managing director at her father's company. She is engaged to be married. The two families have already chosen a date for their marriage.
The two men called their families to discuss the issue.
(Mr Badmus house. After dinner, he called his family together and told them.)
‘I want lovely and Tade to marry each other’. Lovely was not happy with this decision. She told her father she was not going to marry him, but her father threatened to disown her if she did not obey him.
She said “Dad, this is modern day, you don’t force two people that don’t love each other to marry. If you force me to marry this man, I will kill him and I will kill myself.
Moreover, I have someone I already want to marry.
Her father gave her two weeks to bring the man she claimed she wanted to marry. He said if after two weeks she did not bring him that she must marry Tade.
Over at his friend’s house, the situation was not favorable either. His father threatened to disown him if he did not marry his friend’s daughter.
Lovely is such a good girl. I have known her since she was a kid and I am convinced that she is the right person for you.
Tade said he already had someone he loved and he wanted to marry her. His father said that he would not accept any other girl except lovely. Chief Gboyega stood up and walked to his room in anger. Tunde did the same.
Mrs Gboyega followed her husband to the room; she tried to talk some sense into him.
‘My dear husband, you know that it’s been long since we have been begging this boy to bring home a woman but he refused. Why not give him this chance to marry someone he loves. This is modern day, what if the girl you want him to marry too did not love him?
We married out of love; let this boy too marry the woman he loved.
‘I know you will take side with your son , what do you want me to tell my friend Badmus after we have agreed?
Woman, stay out of this matter.
She knows how strong head her husband is, so she decided to let him be. That night, Mrs Gboye called her friend Mrs Badmus to beg her to talk to her husband, that what their husbands want to do is wrong.
Her friend told her everything that was happening in the house and how her husband gave their daughter a deadline to bring home husband. Mrs Gboye was relieved.
Meanwhile, Chief Badmus had called his friend to discuss it with him, so they decided to let the children be.
That night, Lovely talked to her love and told him about what happened in her house. She told him that no matter how busy they are that they need to see so that they would get to know each other facially before taking him to her parent so they set a day that they will see and the place they will meet.
The next day, Mr Gboye told his son to bring his woman that week, that if he did not bring her, he must follow his arrangement.
Tade was so excited that he promised his dad he would bring her on Saturday.
That week, the two love birds met and Tade planned with his woman to visit his parents on Sunday.
Chief Badmus called his friend to give him the update, in order for his friend to know that he was not against him, he said he would come with his wife to meet their new daughter-in-law.
When the day came, the table was already set and both the families were already set except for the children. The elders were discussing the country, using the opportunity to wait for the children to arrive. At last, the children came and it turns out to be their children.
How come these children don’t know each other?
It turns out that Lovely’s name on the social media was not Lovely, not even Funmi. It was her nick name Lolo, and Kunle did not use his surname in other not to draw attentions.
The families were so happy. They all said, what is meant to be will surely be.
They were both meant to be together. After Bimpe’s wedding, Kunle and Lovely also get married. Lovely started her own business empire and Kunle expanded his family business with the help and support of his father and his father in-law's wealth.
THE END.
