Kyoko blinked, not that it helped, and felt the frown pull at her lips. She heard more noises the further into the darkness they went and nearly screamed when she felt something touch her leg. Even through her jeans she could feel the coldness of it. Amni suddenly had both arms wrapped around her and was growling like a rabid wolf. The scuttling around them abruptly stopped and they were surrounded by silence once more. She fought off the urge to ask him what it was but remembered that he’d wanted her to remain quiet. She shivered at the thought that Tama was down here somewhere. Without removing his arms from around her, Amni steered her to the left and they walked around a corner. Kyoko squinted her eyes and blinked them rapidly when she saw torchlight ahead of them, lining the walls.
