Prologue
Year: unknown
Hazel was afraid, her heart pounded in her chest as she was lead to what she felt was her end. Azura walked beside her with a shared look on her face. she could feel her sisters fears and she shared it.
this was not how they'd planned it, this was certainly not how they wanted it to go down but this was how it was going to happen, they were told to guard the door and that was what they were going to do.
Some called it the devil himself, some called it the faceless man while some called him death but the Fae call it the darkness. Hazel and Azura had always found it weird that everyone assume the creature was a man. what if it was a woman or just a person?
Hazel was acting calm but who was she kidding, she was terrified, afraid it would kill her as he had killed the other guards. why did she listen to Azura, why did she let Azura talk her into stealing at the market? the answer was simple, because she loved the idiot
They were nothing but street rats who wanted something to eat and they'd done it all the time, they'd steal bread or cakes at the market and they'd get on with their lives but why did it have to be different this time, why did they have to get caught. and what the hell was this punishment? they didn't have any training so why did they have to be the ones to guard the prison that holds the most evil creature on the face of the planet.
the guard who led them to the giant door stopped. "you are to guard here with your life, do not leave your post for anything. if darkness envelopes you, don't worry about it, just cover your ears and no matter what" he pause for dramatic effect. 'do not listen to the voice' he warned and left
"i’m sorry, what?" Hazel asked but the man was already gone. she sighed softly and face her sister s***h friend. "hate to say it but this is all your fault"
"my fault! you were the one who got distracted by a random guy" she says and leans against the door the realizes what she was leaning on and quickly stands upright. "plus, we needed food to eat, we weren't planning on dying out there"
"well now we can die in hear, indoor deaths are always better than outdoor deaths" Hazel says back and the both laugh. "I think there's something else"
"what do you mean?"
"why would they ask two f*****g teenagers to guard what's rumoured to be the end of the nine worlds?!" she says and looks at the door. "there's something else, Zee. they aren't telling us but there is"
"If you utter the words, I can feel it, I'm leaving you here" Azura says and they both start laughing again. "we're so f****d"
"I know" Hazel says
suddenly the everywhere went dark.
"it's happening, cover your ears" Hazel whispers softly and covers her ears.
Azura didn't. something was stopping her, something wasn't letting her cover them.
"hello, Azura" a soft whisper came to her
"no, I'm not listening to you" Azura tried to cover her ears but she couldn't, her arms wouldn't f*****g move.
"open the door, Azura" the voice whispers again. "please, open the door, I'm quiet hungry and these people don't feed me"
"Azura, what's going on?!!" Hazel says loudly. Azura wanted to go to her but the darkness didn't allow her to see anything
"I don't know" she says.
"i can give you all you desire, Azura riches, fame, money, you'll never beg again" it promised. "just please open the door"
'What?' Azura asked. suddenly the darkness falls and Azura could see Hazel with her shut and her hands over her ears.
Hazel opens her eyes and groan as she see Azura with her eyes open 'Azura, don't listen to it" Hazel yelled.
"don't listen to her" it countered. "I can give you all you desire, all you want, just open a portal into the room, young Fae" it said, it's voice going from a whisper to a shreik. This is what the people say, it weakens your resolve and uses you deepest darkest desires against you, if you refuse to help it, it would feed on your soul. that was how powerful it was, even in prison, it could still hurt people.
Azura knew she didn't have a choice and she was definitely planning not to die "you promise to give me all I want?"
'yes, Azura, Yes!" it called happily. As Azura tried to open the portal, Hazel grabbed her arm.
"you're s**t at opening portals, let me help" Azura gave her an odd look. "they're going to punish you when you open this door. I don't know what the f**k happened just now but if you're going down, I'm going with you"
"that's a stupid thought process but whatever" Azura says and together they open the portal through the door.
just as it opened, it speed through, all they could see was a gush wind blow past them, a tornado, a dark tornado. But that wasn't the only problem, it wasn't trapped there alone, it was trapped there with other creature, creatures that escaped through the door it opened
'well, we are thoroughly f****d now ' Hazel said and smacked Azura on the arm
"ouch"
