Yule Cats Pt. 2

3877 Words
A man came out and started crying. He said, “I am King Kristian, but you can call me Grandpa. I am so sorry we didn’t know about you, child.” Robyn reached out for him and started crying in his arms. Then a giant cat bounded in and hissed. King Kristian rolled his eyes, “Refr, come out and meet your daughter.” His cat narrowed his gaze and flicked his tail in his direction. Kristian tried to hide his smirk as the cat stalked forward. Robyn went to the cat who started to purr. She said, “You’re so big.” Luca whispered, “That is not a cat. It’s a mutant.” The cat hissed at him. He muttered, “Great. I’m going to be killed by a giant hairball. Except it would be the size of the boulder in Indian Jones.” I was not the only one laughing. The cat rolled its eyes at him. After several minutes of Robyn petting him. He shifted back into the man. Someone threw him clothes. His other kids yelled, “DAD!” Their mom held them back and whispered, “Let them have this moment. You can tackle him shortly.” My heart warmed knowing I’d brought Robyn to good people. Refr cupped her face, “My sweet little girl, I am so sorry.” He hugged her and held her close. He promised, “If I knew about you, I would’ve taken you. Your mom and I shared…” He said, “That’s not important.” Robyn disagreed, “I want to know what happened. My mom spoiled me more than everyone else until the birthday I was supposed to shift. Then both my parents turned against me when I partially shifted. She only did it because my dad did though.” He hissed, “I told her…” He took a deep breath when his meow touched his back. He explained, “We met and I knew she was my Meow. She said she’d leave her chosen and we got swept up in passion. We were together for a month when I woke up to a note that her chosen had returned from some battle she’d thought he’d die in and she went back to him.” She returned that night to formally reject me. I told her if she was pregnant I’d take the child back to my home. She threw a negative pregnancy test down saying she thought I’d say that. I told her on our first night together a child of ours wouldn’t shift until their twenty-first birthday.” For some reason I boasted, “She can partially shift.” Why was I so proud? Like she was my best friend I needed to brag about? Everyone turned to her. Sigrun asked, “You can?” She winced, “I know it’s not impressive.” Refr disagreed, “It’s incredibly impressive. Can we see it?” She looked terrified over at me, but mostly at Luca. He said, “I mean I see multiple same s*x couples and partials mixed in over there. They clearly aren’t like the group we came from. Show them what you can do and be proud for once. I’ve always told you I thought it was cool.” She grinned and half shifted in an eagle. She had the beak and WINGS?! I gasped, “Shut up! Can you fly?!” She grinned and took off. I said, “She’s like a human glider. They experimented on her and tried to force full shifts when she looks that awesome?!” Refr hissed, “Did you say experiments?” I replied, “Yes.” Kayda said, “I still like her but I’m jealous. She’s in the sky.” The desire to shift hit full force but I fought it. Luca asked me, “You good?” I nodded, glad I had let Kayda shift and roast those assholes or I’d probably have shifted here. Robyn came back down. Helga whispered, “Wow. I bet she can transform into more than her cat once it comes to her.” That would be awesome. I nudged her, “Either way, you can partially shift and you’ll get a cat. You could go back and eat them all.” That dissolved all of us into a fit of giggles. She waved her hands, “Can you imagine their faces?” Luca bent over laughing. He said, “It would be worth it.” Robyn asked, “Can you shift into the Yule cat since you saw it, Luca?” He winked at her and transformed into the giant cat. Her siblings squealed, “HE DID IT! Is he one of us too?” Luca shifted into a horse. They squealed and surrounded him asking him to transform. The younger ones toddled over to their sister. The little boy asked, “Can you half shift into a frog?” Robyn seemed to have a newfound confidence to her. She grinned at him and transformed. She wasn’t small like a frog but she had the legs and arms of one. He asked, “Can you hop around with me on your back? You’re like my pet frog but SO MUCH COOLER! MOM, LOOK HOW BIG SHE IS?!” Refr chuckled, “Son.” He sighed, “Sorry.” Robyn encouraged him, “Hop on.” She winked, “Get it.” He laughed and jumped on her back and they hopped around. He was having the time of his life. Sigrun hugged me, “Thank you Katla. You have no idea what this means to us.” Luca shifted back and someone threw him pants. I saw one guy even blew him a kiss to which he smirked. Kayda linked, “I so like him and his confidence.” I told Sigrun, “I told Robyn I’d hang out until her birthday to see her cat.” Sigrun agreed, “Of course.” Refr said, “Her birthday would have to be soon.” Luca agreed, “It is. It’s in three days.” He nodded, “Yup. That lines up.” Luca asked, “Do you need a DNA test or something?” He answered, “No, my cat recognized her as mine.” He nodded, “Cool. Shifters don’t have that. Probably because we don’t have a permanent counterpart.” The man who’d been eyeing walked over. He threw his arm around him, “Why don’t I give you a tour?” Someone muttered, “Yeah, to his house.” I heard several people smack the guy. Luca grinned, “Sure.” he called, “You good Robyn?” She was still hopping around. She said, “Beyond good.” He grinned and walked off. Refr asked, “Can we get you anything?” A man walked up, “I can give her a tour.” He winked at me. Kayda said, “I don’t want to set him on fire, but I don’t like him.” It was good to know she was back to herself then. I said, “I’ll take it. Can you tell me if anything happened in Tennessee lately? Like the night I called about a change?” Sigrun answered, “No, not that I know of.” King Kristian said, “The only news out of them was that Luna Elise Conners, the Alpha Werewolf, had her ceremony.” Well, that wasn’t any sort of anything with impending doom. Maybe I was just off that day? Kayda snorted, “I am never off.” I shot back, “Unless I tell you that you can’t eat someone.” She grumbled, “Which is most days. I bet someone around here needs to be eaten.” I chuckled. I asked the man who offered to show me around, “And your name is?” He answered, “Stefan.” Someone muttered, “Prince Stefan.” I teased, “Prince, huh?” He laughed, “I’m like fourth in my dad’s line and my oldest brother has kids. I’ll just be a forever Prince.” I said, “Well, let’s have this tour.” Sigrun chuckled knowing full well she’d given me a tour. I asked, “Robyn, will you be ok?” She nodded, “I think I’m really good. For the first time, I feel like I belong.” I smiled at her while my heart broke wondering if I’d ever get that moment myself. I encouraged her, “Have fun. Come get me if you need. I’m sure someone could find me.” She laughed, “Have fun yourself.” I winked and left with Stefan. We went through their barrier to protect their area. I asked, “Can anyone get through that?” He laughed, “No, only those with our blood. You’re with me so you can get in.” I nodded, “Good to know.” He winked, “I also know you’ve had a tour.” I replied, “I thought this tour would be of your place.” Kayda huffed, “It's better. I want a delicious orgasm.” He grinned, “I was hoping it would.” I bantered, “Since I’ve seen everything else, we should start in your room. I definitely haven’t seen that. It was not on my last tour.” He winked, “Only because I wasn’t here. I would’ve absolutely scooped you up for said tour of my place if you were interested.” I asked, “Is anyone not interested? Look at you.” He laughed, “You are good for my ego.” Kayda said, “Well, he hasn’t asked what we are so I probably won’t eat him.” I wanted to roll my eyes, “Sigrun would’ve told them not to ask.” She was nonplussed. Stefan drew me back into conversation, “So, how did Operation Saint Rita start? I’ll admit I’m aghast no one asked you when you have met with our group. They lack curiosity, that's why they have me.” I chuckled, “I stumbled into it when the guy I was dating became a colossal douche and tried to train me by shooting me when my back was turned. He’d mentioned some partial they were going to kill and I’d better be ready to tell him everything he wanted to know when I got back. I saved her and it spiraled from there.” He hissed, “Someone you were dating shot you?” I nodded, “Yup.” He hissed again, “When your back was turned?” I winced, “Sadly, yes.” He asked, “Did you kill the fucker?” I snorted, “I wish. I had to help the woman instead of going after him. I look for him, but I can’t say I’m overly serious about it.” He questioned, “What’s his name? I’ll alert our people so they know if they hear the name to bring him to me.” I snorted, “I doubt he goes by it anymore but it’s Blaire.” He asked, “And that’s a dude?” I laughed, “Yes, he’s a man.” He said, “Well, that as a male would stick out here. I will be sure to let everyone know. We would’ve done that just because you help others, but bringing my cousin to us adds a level.” He led me into a massive castle. I asked, “Uhh what the f**k is this?” Kayda told me, “Don’t question it. I bet they have amazing mattresses here.” I chuckled, “You don’t care if we sleep on a cave floor.” She replied, “Not caring and appreciating an amazing mattress can coexist in the same mind.” Clearly, they did. He said, “My whole family lives here. We all have our separate wings though.” Like a pack house but bigger. I wondered if my family had this. Something I’d probably never know at this point. He added, “Aunt Helga has been working around the clock on a room in their wing for Robyn. They hope she’ll stay close to them for now, but my mom, Aunt Helga and my other Aunts have been working on her wing.” I asked, “Is your grandma alive?” He laughed, “She’s got more than nine lives. She’s definitely alive. She’s just roaming the territory on a scouting mission. I actually might need to be gone when she comes back. They will try to convince her not to hunt down and kill Robyn’s family so we stay secret, but she’ll be spitting and hissing. She HATES Caterina for rejecting Uncle Refr after she led him on.” He opened the door to a massive additional house inside the castle I was in. He said, “Welcome to my humble abode.” I replied, “I’m not sure there is a single humble thing about this.” Kayda said, “Mattress. Get to the mattress. I want multiple orgasms and blissful sleep.” At least she had priorities. He wiggled his eyebrows, “We should make the most of our time because with my luck my grandma will be back soon and her hissing will kill the mood.” I replied, “Yeah, well my counterpart is dead set on a lot of orgasms and sleep. So, if you don’t want to stop to calm her down I’m game to let her go ham on that shifter group. I probably already sent them into a panic killing the father and daughter duo behind them ordering Luca and Robyn to die.” He hissed, “Algjörir fífl og algjörir hálfvitar. Mikið af þeim (Complete fools and utter idiots. The lot of them).” I agreed, “It was stupid anyway how they treated them, but killing them because Luca is gay and he hugged Robyn is astronomically stupid.” He gaped, “Their leaders agreed to let Robyn die because she’s a partial who a gay man hugged?!” I nodded, “Yeah the bitchtastic chick, whose name they must know, wanted him to marry her. He didn’t, obviously. He and Robyn were friends and she wasn’t treated well. He gave her a hug and her little brat never been told no mind snapped. So I killed them both.” Kayda corrected, “I killed them both.” I reasoned, “We were in human form when we killed the brat. Let’s go fifty fifty on her.” Kayda conceded, “Fine but I roasted and ate the annoying juicy man.” Stefan said, “I wished they lived so I could slice them apart. I would’ve made yarn out of their skin too.” That sounded complicated. Kayda said, “But I very much like all those words. Can we also make skin yarn?” I teased, “Sure. When you don’t roast and eat them. You can’t make yarn out of roasted skin.” She muttered, “Well, it doesn’t sound cool enough not to roast and eat them so I’ll stick to my method.” Shocking. He pulled me against him and leaned in to kiss me. Kayda said, “You tell him we don’t do soft right now.” I gripped his arms, “I like it rough.” He smirked into my mouth and slammed me into the wall. Kayda happily said, “Now we are talking.” I learned a lot that night. Like cats are very limber and quick on their feet. I would definitely roll around the sheets again with Stefan. I fell asleep after seven glorious rounds of s*x. I woke up to hissing and things breaking. Stefan groaned, “At least she let me have all the s*x first.” Kayda said, “I mean I was thinking about having morning sex.” I assured her, “Still doable.” An older woman stormed into his room. She asked, “This is her?” Kayda was ready to go for the kill if necessary. She threw her arms around me. Kayda chuckled, “Ok, I won’t eat her. I love shifters who don’t care about nudity.” Yeah, well I was not only nude but covered in her grandson’s come. She said, “Whatever you are, I hope Stefan knocked you up so I can spoil the s**t out of your child to reap all the wonderfulness you deserve.” Stefan yelled, “GRANDMA!” She kissed my head, “You will always have a spot at our table for bringing my grandbaby to us. That delightful young shifter man told me you killed that awful man and his troglodyte daughter for sentencing them to death. If you find a way to bring Caterina here, BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN TOLD I CANNOT GO TO NEW ZEALAND, I will follow you until the end of time.” Stefan groaned. I laughed, “I like you.” Kayda said, “I don’t want to eat her.” She grinned at me and looked at Stefan. She pointed at him, “Knock her up so I have a great grandchild to spoil from you with a woman I revere.” He groaned and slammed his head into a pillow. She said, “You two get dressed and come down for breakfast. I’m making all my specialties to find Robyn’s favorite.” She left and closed the door. He apologized, “I am so sorry.” I teased, “I think she wants a great grandchild.” He laughed, “Not usually. She’s always on about how we date people that are unworthy so she literally couldn't have paid you a higher compliment.” Kayda said, “He’s satisfying but I don’t feel the urge to procreate.” Yeah, neither did I. He said, “Don’t worry, I’m not ready for kids.” He stammered, “I mean, unless you’re pregnant.” I assured him, “I’m not.” I never had been so I didn’t know why I would be now. I didn’t even know how a Dragon got pregnant. He sighed in relief. He said, “Not that you’re not great, and clearly I would have the most beloved child in our clowder.” We both laughed at that. He said, “I just don’t feel that pull. Ya know?” I agreed, “Neither do I. Children aren’t on my radar right now.” I did want kids someday. I just wanted them with my mate. I asked, “Wouldn’t your meow be upset if you had a kid with someone else?” He shrugged, “We love all children here. I’m sure you noticed Aunt Helga bore no ill will to my cousin when she showed up. Children prior to meeting a meow are completely accepted. Several of my brothers have them and my Uncle’s and Aunt’s. It’s no big deal here.” I asked, “How old are you by the way?” He laughed, “I’m fifty.” I gasped, “I can’t believe you’re older than me! I had you pegged as early twenties.” He winked, “Good genes, baby. We live for centuries.” Kayda groaned, “He was doing so well on me not wanting to roast him. I am NOT a baby.” I explained, “It’s a pet name.” She screeched back. Hopefully, he didn’t say it again and we’d move on from that. He shook his head and said, “Well, my mom linked me they went shopping for you.” He went out his door and came back with literally more clothes than I’d seen in my entire life. I gaped at him. He shrugged, “You’re beloved in this family. You could live here in our clowder if you wanted.” I muttered, “I mean I can’t do that, but a room would be nice.” His eyes clouded and he grinned, “Done.” I chuckled, “You guys are crazy but I like it.” I opened the stuff and nearly cried. They were all designer things. I whispered, “This is too nice.” He replied, “No, it’s not. None of this put even so much as a dent into the money this family has. You gave us a missing piece we all felt. Since we found out you were bringing Robyn it clicked that it was her. We thought it was a child that was coming when it’s been her all along. Without you she might have died.” He winced, “I don’t want to say it with certainty because killing us is not easy, but realizing they couldn't kill her wouldn’t have been great. Then she’d have shifted into her cat and gone quite feral and vicious on them. It’s going to be a concern as it is that her cat will go after them after the abuse she suffered.” Kayda said, “We can help them reason with the cat side of Robyn. She can’t get past us.” It could be a fun fight too. Lord knew we needed one of those that was friendly spar, but also a challenge. I told him, “I’ll do whatever I can to help. I want her here with people who care about her. I felt a connection with her and Luca in a friendship way, and I’ve never had that. Well, that I know of. Ok, I have Stella but we don’t keep in constant communication.” He asked, “That you know of?” I groaned, “I don’t have memories. Someone, who claims they are friends, took them. I remember showing up in New York knowing what I am, my age, and name.” He looked horrified. He asked, “That’s it?” I admitted, “I had money too.” It had last a long time, but it was because I didn’t do anything frivolous with it. Now, I used it for Operation Saint Rita. He hugged me, “God, I can’t even imagine. That must be so hard for you.” To my absolute horror tears started to fall and before I knew it I was full on sobbing. He rocked me, “I’ve got you, you just cry it out.” It took longer than I’d have liked. I pushed back awkwardly and even Kayda was unsure what to do. I whispered, “I don’t know what just happened.” He told me, “Yule cats aren’t just vicious guardians. When we empathize with someone it brings out true emotions from them. It hurts you very deeply and I hate that. If you want me to hiss at and scare your family when you find them I’d be more than happy to.” Kayda said, “I am not scared of that cat.” I touched his arm, “That’s very sweet Stefan.” I heard his grandma yell, “YOU BRING MY FAVORITE WOMAN DOWN HERE FOR BREAKFAST THIS INSTANT. HAVE MORE s*x LATER!” He laughed and I quickly threw on a beautiful sundress. It felt like silk on my skin.
