Yule Cat Pt.3

We went downstairs and I found Luca and Robyn had their own s*x glow. Good for both of them. Robyn was practically a different woman and it made me sad her Shifter community never saw how truly beautiful she was. Her eyes, hair, and smile were all brighter here. There was literal feast that Stefan’s Grandma put on my plate. She pointed at me, “Now and forevermore you call me Grandma. You hear?” I smiled at her, “Thanks for breakfast, Grandma.” She nodded in approval. Luca made finger guns at me. She cooed at him, “And we adore you too. Did you see his cat, Katla? He fits right in with us.” I replied, “I did see the cat he shifted into. He was quite handsome and fierce.” Stefan whispered, “I am handsome and fierce too.” I’d bet he was. He was probably bigger too. I watched Grandma with the utmost fascination throughout breakfast. Robyn was being appropriately fussed over. I carefully watched all the others around, but no one begrudged her the attention she was getting. They were all interested in her. A man came in and trailed his hand up Luca’s back and winked. Damn. He was their catnip in this clowder and he seemed to be taking it all in. Good for him, honestly. Both of them. They got down to business talking about Robyn’s shift. She asked, “My cat might want to go back to New Zealand to kill? I mean, I can’t really get there easily.” Her dad told her, “Your cat won’t care. She will want to avenge what happened to you, just like mine did. I just don’t know if any of us can pin you down. We’ve never had a cat that dealt with the trauma you did.” I asked, “Is this a she’s your daughter and you just found her problem? Or strength?” I could help with both. Helga answered, “It’s that we don’t want to stop her from what she needs. We just met her and we feel horrible about what she lived through.” Grandma said, “Plus, we hate Caterina.” She cooed at Helga, “You are so much better.” Refr chuckled, “You never met…” She cut him off, “I don’t need to meet her. She led my baby on, then rejected him cruelly. Lied about her pregnancy and mistreated my granddaughter. She was going to let her die, as far as she knew. As if she knows how to kill a Yule cat. Honestly, the nerve of that woman. She’s a dolt and she didn’t belong in this family. Our goddesses messed up that pair, but she redeemed herself with Helga. She’s a rare jewel.” Refr hugged his meow, “That I know.” I said, “Well, I can help with her shift. She won’t be able to get past me.” One of the kids asked, “Will you have to shift?” I answered, “No.” They pouted. One actually snapped her fingers and said, “Rats.” Robyn frowned, “I don’t want to hurt you.” I assured her, “It’s very hard to hurt me.” They didn’t believe me and looked uncomfortable. I casually threw out, “Seriously, a bullet practically bounced off me. I had a little dent for a few weeks and then it went away.” One boy whispered, “She’s a superhero! UNCLE STEFAN MARRY HER!” That had everyone laughing. Robyn asked, “You’re sure about this? I really don’t want to hurt you.” Kayda sighed, “I’m not breakable.” Just one certain spot on our head. I told her, “I don’t mind. What are friends for, right? Well, supernatural friends. You did say I had to keep in touch, implying we are friends.” She quickly agreed, “You are my friend and you do have to keep in touch.” I said, “Well, if your cat’s out for blood I’ll stop you. Only because you’d be in cat form and that would alert people to the Yule cats and humans would lose their minds.” Kayda said, “Yeah, I don’t care about that. They could use a little lost marbles among them. They all have a few screws loose and I blame them for not being able to fly.” Which wasn’t really fair, but I could see how she felt that way. I told her, “Some humans would adore and love us because we were a Dragon.” She said, “Well, then I like them. The rest can be roasted.” Naturally. I said, “I think the only way to get your mom here was to let her know you’d escaped here, but I doubt knowing you were with your dad would get her coming. I’ll have her watched and if she goes out alone, have her grabbed and brought here.” Robyn sighed, “She might be pregnant. My sibling should have their mom.” Kayda asked, “She they? She’s a terrible mom.” I replied, “Not to the ones that shift.” I amended, “Then I’ll have her watched to make sure they are taking care of the child.” She nodded, “That would be good. Her time will come through.” Kayda sighed in relief, “I thought I misjudged her for a second. I was perturbed.” Robyn’s face contorted in anger, “One day, she’ll pay for turning her back on me. She could’ve just sent me to my dad all these years and she knew it. She knew what he was. Hell, she could’ve just told me and I’d have left. She’s going to pay, but maybe not until she thinks she’s safe. Then I’ll get her.” Kayda chuckled, “I see I worried for nothing. She’s got that bite.” She definitely did. The next few days passed in having s*x with Stefan and talking to Grandma. Which made me wonder quite a bit if I had one. I cried on more people in this clowder and Royal family than I had since I came to the human realm. They were too empathic with me and I had too much to be sad about. It felt healing though to get it all out. Plus Grandma had some hilarious plans if she ever ran across my family. She fully planned to tell my biological Grandma, if I had one, that she snoozed and lost. Now she had the job. Kayda was somewhat disappointed and happy she hadn’t found anyone she wanted to roast. Stefan had never called us baby again so he was safe. I needed this glance at a group that loved each other. I needed to be among them like this and see, like packs, there were so many good groups out here. We were doing the right thing fighting the evil ones, but we were strong in numbers. Seeing all the evil I did being here was a breath of fresh air. When Robyn’s twenty-first birthday was about to hit midnight we all gathered. Stefan, grandma, Helga, hell the whole damn Royal family warned me it would be rough. I’d never seen a shift though and I’d be needed if her cat wanted to go for blood. I had no idea how my own shift went either. Kayda told me, “If we have to shift to stop her, I trust they will keep our secret.” I startled, “Are you sure?” She said, “I don’t want to reveal myself to them. I’m just saying if we have to, as a last resort I’m willing. Robyn needs to be safe.” I agreed, “Alright.” We went out to some private area. I tried to remain impassive as Robyn struggled and her limbs broke. This was horrible. Kayda said, “I know I have no proof, but our shift wasn’t like that. I refuse to believe it was.” I told her, “Hey, we finally found the one thing ignorance may be bliss about. So, I’m going to call that a win.” She snorted. It took two hours of coaching as she transformed into a massive black and brown tiger striped cat. She hissed and threw her back and nearly roared. Grandma said, “You’re up girlie. I say let her terrorize the villages.” I smirked, “Maybe one day.” She winked at me, “I hope you’re having my great grandchild.” I chuckled. She said, “Whenever you have kids, they will be my great grandchildren. You hear?” I assured her, “I hear you. The second I have a child, I’ll make sure you meet them.” She nodded, “See that you do. Or you’ll get in big trouble with your Grandma.” I believed her. Refr reasoned, “Kitten, I know you’re hurting.” She hissed and all the hair on her back stood up. She jumped over them and I jumped into the trees and got in front of her. I said, “I don’t know if you’ve gotten through Robyn’s memories to me yet, but we are friends. It’s new.” She simply looked at me as her tail swayed. I admitted, “I’m new to having friends. Honestly, I’m jealous of what you have here. I don’t and I know how precious it is. So, while I do think you have every single right in the world to charge out there and rip everyone from your past to pieces, I’m not going to let you. Because you have a peace here that should be treasured and Robyn does. Which means you do too. I can and will stop you if you try to get past me.” Kayda said, “Yeah, I bet she tries once. That will be fun.” I told her, “You have love here and one day you’ll have vengeance. Just not today.” Her tail swished back and forth. Kayda linked, “She’s going to move.” I let her come forward as the cat tried to jump over me. I simply pinned her down. We got into a hell of a tussle. I snorted, “Hair pulling cat!” Kayda was having fun. Neither she, me, nor the cat were trying to hurt each other. I pinned her and grabbed her ear. I said, “I saw a movie once where the dude bit the dog on the ear to assert dominance. You’re a big girl so I might have to try. Or you can accept you can’t get past me and go for a run with your dad.” That had her attention. Refr said, “I’ll run with you kitten.” I let her go and jumped over her to the barrier leading out. Refr shifted and she got off her back and they rubbed against each other before pouncing away. Helga gasped, “Oh god, your clothes are ripped from her claws.” I snorted, “You bought the clothes.” She frowned, “You’ll be bleeding.” I showed all those that remained that I had no scratches. Grandma raised a glass to me. She walked over and handed out shots. King Kristian groaned, “Mom!” She asked, “What? It’s her twenty-first birthday. We have to have shots!” I whispered, “I thought the drinking age here was twenty.” She waved dismissively, “It is but she wasn’t here then. So, we party like she’s just turned twenty.” I raised my shot glass, “Skál (Cheers).” I drained the shot glass. Grandma bumped me then looked at everyone else. “And that’s one of the reasons she’s my favorite.” Stefan called out, “You’re not supposed to have favorites, Grandma.” She snorted, “Who lives their lives on supposed to? I have to keep you lot on your toes.” She dragged me away with her glasses and alcohol. She said, “I feel it in these old bones, you’ll be how I get my hands on Caterina. Us Yule cats have a sixth sense. You come back here often or Grandma will track you down. You hear?” I nodded, “I’ll come back. Robyn and Luca said we have to keep in touch. I’m often all over, but I know some Demons. You’re a shimmer away.” She warned, “You stay away from us too long and I’ll send a Demon after you. You go see the world and spread your love and joy.” I argued, “I don’t spread love and joy.” She snorted, “You brought a light to this clowder and my granddaughter. You save people and give them new chances. You are special.” I teased, “You're biased.” She winked, “That doesn’t make me wrong.” She took me back to the big house. I needed to head out tomorrow. I needed to get back to Tennessee and figure out what the hell happened that had my sense on high alert. Because it sure as hell wasn’t Luna Elise Conners becoming the Luna. You didn't think Melanie was the only one that met different supernatural's did you? K has connections! YULE CATS! Maybe remember some of these names. Tuck them away in your brain for future reasons ;) I felt bad for Robyn and her childhood. She's with the people who love her now. Don't you love Grandma? Isn't she the best LOL K knew something was wrong in TN (Mel was kidnapped) but no one had that news so she shrugged it off. Of course she doesn't know her at this point, but we are about to have their worlds meet :) SO CLOSE!
