We got in the car and left together. When we got back my Uncle Eric was waiting. I greeted, “Hey.” He nodded, “I’d like to talk to you for a minute.” I agreed, “Sure.” He hugged Bradley. He asked, “How did it go?” He shrugged, “It was fine. Now, I’m looking forward to our team!” Uncle Eric laughed, “Me too, buddy. Caleb figured out my schedule to make it all work.” Bradley cheered, “YAY!” He took off running for his brothers. Alexander shot me a wink before running after his brother.
I followed my Uncle into his office he called a war room. I asked, “What’s up?” Then I spotted Maddox and Lincoln. I groaned, “Oh my god. You’re asking all of us.” Lincoln pointed at me, “My team will kick your team’s ass. SO HARD.” I replied, “It’s going to be different ages for the SAME team, Linc.” He shrugged, “Scrimmages. We will have them and my team is going to own yours.” I shook my head.
Uncle Eric laughed, “Your friends agreed, but I wanted to ask if you’d coach one of our age groups for the new team. Your Aunt has never liked that the leagues all separate out supernaturals. She wants a co-ed team.” I said, “Then it’s not a team. You’re creating a new league.” He grinned, “Yes, I am. I was convinced to do so.”
Jackson snorted, “Her blow job game is quite persuasive. We all know that’s how she got you to agree.” Uncle Eric laughed. Lincoln said, “Of course it. My mom was around her growing up and I’m sure she deep throated a banana often and for literally no reason.” I agreed, “That does sound likely.”
I told my Uncle Eric, “I’m in. Are the Hackura invited?” He replied, “Of course. Your Aunt already told them and Faerie about it.” I deadpanned, “Yay.” He laughed, “The partial Fairies are the ones interested. The full blooded Fairies find the game dull and boring. There’s not enough action for them.” I snapped my fingers, “Shucks.” Lincoln and Maddox laughed.
We went over the details. It was pretty well put together for just deciding today. I voiced my suspicions, “You’ve been working on this.” He grinned, “I stole the plans from you Aunt. She saw an injustice and she was going to fix it. She doesn’t think we should be so segregated. She even asked Megan to put up fliers for her coven to see. She thinks Witches and Warlocks are too separated from their supernatural communities and it leads to problems.”
I snorted, “She did not say it like that.” He agreed, “There was a lot of mothering f*****g and bitches and warts thrown in.” I laughed, “That sounds more like something Aunt Haley would say and do. This is good. I think she’s right. Everyone in this realm is too segregated. I could even admit we are in our realms as well.” Something that my Grandpa Titus nearly considered doing harshly after Aunt Haley was found. He had a lot of meetings about closing us off after we were lied to and betrayed the way we were by sources over her treatment.
My Uncle asked, “Where did you go?” I admitted, “We almost never met.” He laughed, “Well, I heard your dad wanted me to meet your Aunt.” I asked, “Who told you that? Grandma Veronica decided you were the right one for Haley.” He answered, “Zader announced it the first time I met him.” I shrugged, “He would've had a reason, but it was one thousand percent Grandma Veronica so you would’ve met my Aunt. The women in our family get what they want.”
He laughed, “Don’t I know it.” I said, “Anyway, Aunt Haley said something that convinced him not to. She always sees the good in people.” He asked, “What did she say?” I admitted, “I don’t know. She just said something during their Ocean talks. He wouldn’t have brought up Fairies so I’m guessing it was about something else. She probably doesn’t even know how close it all got. We weren’t discussing those types of things with her.”
I changed the subject, “You should ask Cayden to coach.” My Uncle Eric laughed, “I did but he’s too busy. He seemed disappointed.” He would be. He had a massive crush on Cassie that no one but me seemed to notice. I guess I had a penchant for cousins crushing on women without meeting them. It was confounding that Cayden hadn’t met Cassie. Almost as much as Alexander and Melanie not meeting.
We left with all the information. Maddox opened the portal. He gleefully said, “I’ll be all over those single wolf dad’s.” I laughed knowing he was right. I warned, “Not on your team.” He grinned, “But your team.” I agreed, “Sure.” My Aunt had launched a whole program to connect wolves that wanted kids together. It was a whole supernatural community at this point and opened it up for supernaturals to adopt easier or find co-parenting situations prior to finding mates. It was odd to us they hadn’t thought of it before, but children prior to mating weren't abnormal to us.
Hell, we could even have agreed upon off period kids. Hence Haley and Miley being born. I said, “I’ll go see if Hugo and Holly’s kids are signing up.” Lincoln said, “Uhh yeah. I already put my nephew on my team. Sorry not sorry.” I said, “He’s my nephew too.” He replied, “And I didn’t claim the one in your age bracket.” I rolled my eyes.
Rusty jogged over to me and I patted his head. Maddox asked, “Bar scene tonight?” I agreed, “Sure. let me just go catch some sleep.” Lincoln scoffed, “LAME! Let’s start now, Maddox.” Maddox laughed and they took off. I jogged back to the castle with Rusty.
I laid in my bed and tried to go to sleep. I tossed and turned so much that Rusty was giving me the stink eye. I told him, “I want to sleep too. I should be tired and ready for this.” He simply stared at me. I asked, “Do you think my mate just isn’t sixteen yet? I should probably take another tour of the realm, huh?” He made some noise I didn’t interpret as agreement.
I sighed, “I’ll do another tour, but I just don’t think she’s here.” He tilted his head. I helped up my hands, “I know she’s here. She has to be. Hackura Queens are always full blooded. Maybe I should look at our women that have been on long missions.” He simply laid his head down. I snorted, “You’re no help.” He finally made some noises. I told him, “I’m sure she’ll love you, whoever she is.” His head perked right back up and his tongue lolled out of his mouth.
He jumped up and pounced on me. I groaned, “A little warning there Rusty.” He knocked my Dragon, K, off her perch. I groaned, “Rusty…” I trailed off when he touched the port with his nose. I watched the purple Dragon again with rapt attention. I said, “They are cool, aren’t they Rusty?” He barked.
The voice was telling me about them again, but I still watched the purple Dragon. I told Rusty, “Between you and me I barely remember any of the words this person is saying. I can’t stop watching the purple Dragon.” He pushed K closer to me. I chuckled, “Yeah, the Dragon does look like my stuffed one. Doesn’t it.” He barked happily. I sighed, “If only they still lived. I would’ve loved to meet one.” He put his head in my lap and we both fell asleep with the hologram purple dinosaur on my lap and my stuffed one tucked into my arm.
WOHVILLE CHRISTMAS! LOL Dylan's in some trouble because you know Blade nor Eric were amused. H's side of Haley's kidnapping gutted me. I had some tissues at my desk. it's hard for our strong characters to feel like they failed. I also like the automatically assumed Haley was pregnant. He didn't need anyone to tell him, he was certain. I love Alexander and Hastein moments. Maddox is fun :) just like Linc! I loved Haley's present for H and I love his facination with it. Obviously we, the reader, know why but it's adorable he's always drawn to things like this. Do you think Melanie was behidn the annoymous tip? How would she do it without getting caught? Was it someone else? Could it all be a coincidence? Eric coaching Bradley's soccer team is ADORABLE! I love that Eric got H and his friends to coach in their new league. Because of course Haley saw a flaw and took up for all supernaturals.
