“We’re going to attend Michelle’s birthday party later,” ani Noémie habang abala sa kakascroll sa kanyang phone, as usual. “Girls only, syempre. Alam mo naman si Michelle, man hater talaga ‘yun. But she invited us.”
Napahinto ako sa pagsusulat nang marinig ko ‘yon. Napalingon ako sa kanya, and as expected, she was still glued to her phone. Never a book, always the screen.
“Birthday party?” tanong ko, kunot-noo. “Anong date na ba ngayon?”
I glanced at the mini calendar taped beside my desk. My eyes widened a bit. Heck. It’s already my second day’s afternoon… meaning bukas na ang deadline ko for deciding whether to sign or not.
Napahilot ako sa sentido. Kahit mag-no pa ako, I already knew how this would end, still dead. Damn that man! Psychopath talaga!
