Inevitable Calling

The ball

A week had gone by and things were really good between me and Theo. I was a good girl and went to college and came straight home, Theo was still stressed though with the case we’re still working on. The only time he seemed relax was when I was at the side of him, I didn’t see much of Joel at college but he was still on a mission to challenge Theo.

It’s 2nd of February which means it’s the day of the ball, I’m currently stood in the bedroom getting ready. I had just finished a shower so I was in a towel, I was stood by the closet door; admiring the dress Theo had picked out. I had done my make up so the dress and shoes were the last thing to put on.

I dry my body with the towel as I finish admiring the dress, I grabbed it off the door and slid it off the hook. I wrapped it over my head and neatened it down, I glance at the mirror and I was breathless. The dress enhanced my curves and it made me look slim, it sparkled through the mirror. I then stepped into the silver laced heels and I felt taller.

A gasp escaped behind me, I looked up and Theo was stood behind, looking dazzled. His fingers started tracing along my shoulders down to my wrists and then my waist, his eyes was watching his every own move. He then traced them back up by figure to my neck and then my face and I shivered with pleasure at his touch.

He cups my neck and brings my mouth to his, “You…” He murmurs as he teases my lips.

“…look…” He pauses.

“…rather tasty, Muffin.”

I don’t giggle and he doesn’t smile, we’re both rather serious and he lunges for my mouth and gives me a hot passionate kiss from behind.

After a very long deep kiss he sighs and pulls away, he then reaches over to the dressing table and pulls back to look at me in the eyes through the mirror.

“Hold your hair up, Button.”

I do as he says and lift my hair up, he then presents a silver chained necklace in front of my chest and fastens it at the back. I gasp as I realise that it must have been rather expensive. I then let go of my hair as he slides his hand across my shoulders, reaching for my hand and holds it with his palm enclosed around my wrist.

He wraps a silver chained bracelet with the exact same pendants on the necklace but smaller and fastens it. He then reaches for a pair of earrings and holds them up to me.

“Put these on.” He orders me again.

I did as I was told and he turned me back around so that I can look at myself in the mirror.

“You’re the definition of perfection, Lexi.” He purrs into my ears.

I turn back to him, “Don’t be so silly.” I coyly smiled.

He scoffs, “I think you’re the one that’s being silly, Darling.”

He then rests his head against mine and breathes, a few seconds later he pulls himself away and grooms his rather sexy suit.

“Are you ready to go, Baby?” He asks me with a grin on his face.

I nod at him enthusiastically and he laughs at me, he then pulls me out of the room and ushers me into the backseat of his car when we got outside.

I couldn’t help but lean over and kiss him on his cheek as Wesley started the engine, he grinned and faced me.

“You look really sexy, Papi.” I gleam at him, ignoring Wesley’s awkward cough.

“I gotta match my perfect woman.” He gleams back before the car sets off.

The entire ride was quiet, but every time Theo turns to peek over at me I coyly giggle at him and every time his smile widens. Wesley seems to be getting used to me and Theo publicly showing affection towards each other as he started to feel less awkward.

I could that tell we were arriving at our destination after about ten minutes of driving as Theo started to shift beside me, I watched him glance around as we pulled into a grand drive way; there were so many cars pulling in and parked with many people standing around laughing and talking. The closer we drove to the building, the more anxious Theo got. Everyone was dressed so elegantly and they were all so beautiful, Theo clearly had a huge family.

He started to bite his nails so I gently wrapped my fingers around his wrist and brought it to my face. Everyone started to stare through the windows and Wesley parked the car right in front of the entrance, it must be an important spot as it was clearly left for us specifically and the family members I already had met were stood next to the empty space.

“You need a few minutes, Your Highness?” Wesley chirped looking at Theo through the mirror.

His heartbeat steadied more when he looked at my eyes and it even fluttered but he was still shaking and exhaling. I’ve never known Theo to be so nervous since meeting him, I mean, yes, he has his moments but not like this. He then started stroking my cheek before giving me a short kiss on the mouth.

“You got this, Papi.” I softly whispered as I kissed him on his forehead.

“Don’t be so nervous, Sir, I know this is a big thing for you but I’m sure everything will be okay.”

Theo then sighs and shakes his head, “I know, it’s just that you know my family is huge so there’s a lot of people who are going to be asking so many questions.”

He then takes a deep breath before turning to look at me, “I just don’t want my button feeling overwhelmed.”

I grin at him, “Don’t worry about me, Papi.”

I squeezed his hand, “Come on, we can’t stay in the car all night.”

He did then chuckled before nodding at Wesley, he then nodded back and got out of the car. He walked towards Theo’s side and opened the door, Theo got out and grabbed my hand to pull me out. The dress got a bit stuck and Theo was quick to deal with the problem.

Everyone was staring at us and I couldn’t help but smile shyly at them, Theo was at my side and gently wrapped his arm around my waist. I glanced over at Vic and she beamed at me, she looked insanely beautiful; she was wearing a long black sleeveless grown with a lot of sequins on it. She had a pair of stud earrings with a diamond necklace; she looked very sparkly while her hair was tied up with bits dangling down at the side of her face.

We walked over towards them and Cane Wolf whistled at us, “Look at you two matching, you both look amazing.”

I softly giggled at him, “Thank you, Cane, you look great too.”

He was wearing a black suit with a dark blue tie, he was matching Victoria just like me and Theo matched each other.

I then turned to her, “You look breath taking, Vic.”

She grinned at me, “Not as breath taking as you, Hun.”

I dust down my dress shyly, “Oh, stop it.”

Theo kissed me on the forehead, “She’s perfect.”

A short, large man appeared at the hall’s doorway and cleared his throat. He scanned the crowd and his eyes lit up as they landed on me. He then walked over towards us and held out his hand.

“Lexi Button, I believe. My name is Councilman Tate, I’m here to lead you to the hall. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He beamed at me and I was surprised at his friendly invite.

I took his hand and shook it, “It’s nice to meet you too, Councilman.”

Councilman then looked over at Theo, “Your father wasn’t kidding when he said you found yourself a real beauty.”

Theo chuckled at the side of me and my stomach did flips.

Councilman then cleared his throat again and stood up straight, “The elderly are inside waiting for you to come inside with your mate and your family here followed by the rest of the family clan.”

“Yes, of course.” Theo said, grabbing my hand and leading me into the building.

I turned around to see everyone else following while murmuring as they continued to stare at me. Theo’s grip tightened around my hand and I turned back to the front.

“Ignore their whispering, Baby.” He soothed, feeling my slight anxiety.

We continued to walk down a hall until we reached a door with a guard standing with his arms crossed. He gestured us to walk through and when I looked around the hall it was full with tables and food buffets. Eventually we reached some stairs and Councilman Tate gestured us to walk up them.

On a stage were stood Theo’s parents and a tall thin guy standing next to King Kai Councilman Tate goes to stand next to the man, I could feel power radiating off the man in the middle.

He reaches for my hand, “Good evening, I am Bartholomew. I am the head of the council and Councilman Tate is my assistant. It is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Button.”

He gives me my hand back and I smile at him, “Likewise, Bartholomew.”

Bartholomew then turns to Theo, “I’m glad you could make it with your mate.”

I could feel Theo nodding at Bartholomew as he shakes his hand.

“Good evening, Bart.” Theo spoke with a sharp tone.

He then wrapped his arm around my waist again and stood up straight.

“Now that we’re aquatinted, you’re welcome to sit down at your family’s table. As it stated in your invitation, this ball’s purpose is for everyone to celebrate your mating and for you to get to know everyone.”

He then turns to me, “I hope you have a fun evening, I appreciate you must be feeling overwhelmed and nervous but I’m sure you’ll start to feel welcome. Please don’t hesitate to speak to me if you have any concerns.”

I nodded at him and smiled softly, “Thank you, Your Majesty.”

Theo then led me to a table where Tori and Cane sat, Kai and Tiana followed suit. Theo pulled out a chair and sat me down, he then sat down next to me and rested his hand on my leg.

I looked down at it and my heart kept fluttering, my breathing became heavier. I looked up at Theo and looked him in the eye, his eyes were dark but glistening at the same time. His face was straight but I could tell that he was still feeling riled up from our moment in the bedroom.

Time stood still and I forgot that we were in a hall full of people for a moment, I snapped back to reality and saw that people were still staring at me.

Kai snaps my gaze towards him, “People are only staring because Theo is powerful and most popular in the family clan. They’re just trying to figure out if you’re right for him or not. They’re also curious about you, please do not worry about the staring.”

I smiled at him, “Thank you for reassuring me, I’m not overly anxious but I’m not used to this many people staring at me.

He chuckled and Theo squeezed my leg, I felt hot as he never took his hand off and his grip heated me up.

He clears his throat before speaking, “Cane, open the champagne please.”

Cane raised his brow at Theo before opening the champagne.

I then cleared my throat, “So how often does the council throw balls?” I asked Kai.

“We have a ball at the end of every month, it’s tradition. But other times is for special occasions like this one.” Kai then looked at Theo and Theo let out a annoyed sigh.

“Did you really have to request it? I’m not really in the mood for all the questions I’m about to be asked.”

Theo clenched his fist and I wrapped my hand around his wrist, he then relaxed and I felt his aura softening. Kai rolled his eyes then scoffed.

“Yes, I did have to do this. Your calling is in the air and Bart would have arranged a ball regardless, I just pushed it quickly.”

Things went awkwardly silent then Tiana spoke, “Well I think you look stunning, Lexi. And the jewellery set you’re wearing is to die for, I bet it was expensive.” Her gaze then went to her son and raised her brow at him.

His face then widened, “It was, but I got it half price with my discount card.”

“You’re spoiling her already, Son.” Kai joked and Cane snickered.

Theo’s grin widened, “I know I am.”

From the corner of my eye, a teenage girl walked towards our table. Theo turned to her and his grin shone on her.

“Hey, Theo.” The girl sweetly greeted him, she then looked at me. It wasn’t a sneer but she looked quite sheepish. Like she was wary of me.

“Hi, Madzie, are you okay?” He returns her sweet gesture.

“I’m good, is this your mate.”

“It is.”

Theo then turned to me, “This is Lexi. Button, this is my cousin Madziez.”

“It’s lovely to meet you, Madzie.”

“H-hi, you’re very pretty.”

Her face went bright red and I giggled at her, “Thank you, Sweetie, so are you.”

A cough erupted from Cane and we all looked at him as he raised his brow at Madzie.

“Don’t forget your brother is sitting here.” He jokes at her.

Madzie chuckled shyly at him, “Hi, Cane, sorry.”

She then shifted a little, “Anyway, I’m going back to my table. It was nice meeting you, Lexi. Mum and Dad wants you to come sit with us for a bit, they miss you.” She then turned to Cane.

Cane goes to stand up, “I’ll be back soon, Guys. Don’t have too much fun without me.” He then winked at us and we all laughed as he walked Madzie back to her table.

I scanned the hall again as I sipped some champagne, to the right of our table: Owen, Aaron, Jordan and Cameron were sat with Muffy and Aria. I was surprised to see them and I exclaimed in surprise. Everyone looked at my sudden gesture and I giggled coyly at them.

I then turned to Theo, “Muffy and Aria are here?” I said with a questioning tone.

Kai chuckled and spoke instead of Theo, “Theo’s friends are allowed to attend council parties, Jordan had asked us if he was allowed to bring Muffy and presented us a plead stating that she’s his former mate and your best friend so we decided that it was okay for her to join him as a plus one. He then asked us if it was okay she brought your other friend, Aria, to accompany her. Consider it as a celebration gift from us to you.” He gestured with his hands as he speaks with a sincere smile on his face.

I clear my throat. “I, um, thank you for that. I appreciate it.” I smiled softly at him and he tilted his head with honour.

Theo’s body stiffen next to me and I looked down at his clenched fist, he sighs darkly as he takes a swig of his drink. I look up at his gorgeous face and he does not look happy. I follow his gaze to see where he was looking and to find myself looking at Joel. Whom, was staring at me.

Next to him was his parents and the other side next to him was a c*cky Regina. She caught me looking at them and she cupped Joel’s chin and turned his face so she could kiss him. When she let go of his face she picked up a glass and sipped her champagne with the c*ckiest grin I’ve ever seen.

Think that bothers me, do you. Hmmph, I couldn’t care less you batty crease.

“What is Joel Simmons doing here with that snaky b*tch?” I growled.

Everyone turns to follow my gaze then they turned back to look at me, Theo sighed again and caressed my cheek. He could feel my anger boiling up and he calmed me down.

Kai spoke, “His father is on the council, he has to attend with his family and Joel’s mate unfortunately. We are full aware of your history with him and we’ve made sure that Alpha Simmons has warned his son to behave. Please do not worry, I can assure you there will be consequences if he steps out of line.”

I sigh with relieve but I still feel aggravated by the c*cky smug look Regina has on her face, Tori looks at her and scoffs.

“Ignore her smug face face, she’s got nothing on you.” She proudly says and loud enough for her to hear, Regina face falls and she crosses her arms in a strop.

A smile then forms on my face as Tori turns back to face me and winks me, I hear Theo’s boys jeering in the background as I feel awkward auras coming from Muffy and Aria.

I take a deep breath, “Is it okay if I go chat with my friends for a bit.” I asked with a smile.

“Of course, go ahead, Dear.” Tiana urged me.

I stand up and nodded my head at them to come follow me to the food buffets, when we got there we hurdled into a group hug.

“I can’t believe you’re here.” I squeal at them.

“I can’t believe we’re here too.” Muffy squeals back.

“This is big, but did you see the look on Joel’s face when he saw Theo getting cozy with Lexi.” Aria chimes in.

Muffy then laughs, “I thought it was rather funny how Regina thought it would bother you to see her kissing your d*cky ex.” Aria scoffs.

She then nudged me with her elbow and whispered, “Your man on the other hand is so hot, you are so lucky.”

I giggle at her and look at the man himself, he’s watching us with a smirk on his face. I beam at him and I couldn’t help but get lost in him, my heart flutters whenever we get lost in each other’s souls. I could feel everyone around me watching us.

Boy, they must be really curious about us, they haven’t been able to stop staring.

I sigh and turn back to my girls, “So speaking of the scum, I’m assuming they’re in love again.” I grunt as I glare at them.

Muffy scoffs, “Yes, you never know what’s going on with them. One minute they’re all over each other then the next they’re distancing themselves from each other.”

She then shrugs, “Anyway, enough about them. You guys took it to the next level, didn’t you?” She then gleefully whispers wiggling her fingers.

I shyly chuckle, “Heh, how did you guess?”

“It’s pretty obvious, B, you got s*ex radiating off your skin.”

Aria then giggles, “She’s not wrong, I think that’s why everyone keeps staring at you.” Her nose crinkled as she scanned the room.

“Maybe, we haven’t gone the full way though. He let me give him head and he gave me head, I did a waterfall in the shower while he did so after f***ing myself in front of him.” I proudly admitted while blushing and they gasped with hands on their faces.

“Sh*t, Lexi, he made you squirt?” Muffy exclaimed.

I laughed at her, “He did. Anyway, I hope you girls enjoy the ball. Please have fun and don’t feel awkward.” I wrap my arms around their necks.

“Hah! That’s easier said than done, we get to sit at a table full of boys. At least you get to sit next to your boyfriend.” Aria prods Muffy in the arm and Muffy howls at her.

“Ow, that hurt!” She screeches at her, I giggle at them as I hear Theo and his boys howl.

I turn to look at them and they’re all sat at that same table, chattering while watching us. I roll my eyes at them and turn to face the food as the girls grin at me. I feel Theo’s eyes bore into my back, he’s clearly annoyed by this. I smile and my belly rumbles as I continue to look at the delicious looking food.

“Would you girls like to have some food?” A sweet voice appeared next to me.

I turned to see Tiana stood at the side of me with an older woman stood next to her.

“We would love some, thank you, Tiana.”

She gives me and the girls a plate and gestures us to help ourselves, “Lexi, I’d like to introduce you to Theo’s other grandmother.”

I take the old lady’s hand and she goes to kiss me on the cheek, “It’s so good to meet you, young lady, my name is Candice but you may call me Candie.”

I squeeze her hand a little, “It’s good to meet you too, Candie.” I smile at her softly.

My gaze went onto Theo for a second and he was still watching me. I cleared my throat and continued to fill my plate up, I then grabbed another plate and filled it up.

I then turned back to Candie, “So, Candie, I’m assuming that you’re Kai’s mother.”

“I am indeed, Dear.”

I start to walk towards my table and looked at Candie before disappearing, “I hope to meet you again, Candie.”

“Such a lovely girl.” I hear her say as I walk towards the table.

I then sat down and set the plates on the table, I looked one at Theo as he was walking towards me. I grin at him as he kisses me while he sits down,

“Hmm, hello to you too,” I mumble into his lips, his friends were cheering as we kissed.

He laughs then clears his throat as he straightens his suit. He wraps his arm around my waist and picks up his drink then sips it.

I clear my throat, “I brought you some food.” I squeal at him as I push his plate towards him.

“Thanks, Baby, you’re the best.”

He then moves some of my hair away from my ear and puts his mouth over it, “I would rather eat you however.” He whispers as he circles my waist with his thumb.

I gulp as I dig into my food and my stomach does backflips while a gate in my crotch opens, he starts playing with my hair while chuckling.

“Sooo, have you dealt with any questionnaires yet.” I peek at him as I eat quiche.

He giggles at me, “A couple actually, I think some of them are waiting to get us both together to ask questions. I’ve had a couple glasses of champagne to prepare for it.”

I giggle at him and he continues to play with my hair, “Eat, Papi.” I order him.

He growls and his hand twitches against my waist, I chuckle and he continues to growl.

Nevertheless, he picks up a fork and eats his food. Out of the ordinary, Theo comes out with something I didn’t expect.

“Cane feels a tug towards your friend Aria.” He casually says this like it doesn’t faze him, I cough on my food.

I then dust my dress, “I’m sorry, did you just say that my friend is your cousins mate?” I stared at him him with awe and he chuckles at me.

“Not necessarily but that’s what I’m saying, yes.” He said sarcastically and I rolled my eyes at him.

He bit his lip while growling, “I’m counting the amount of times you roll your eyes at me tonight and so far it’s two.” His eyes narrowed on me as they dilate and grow darker, I smiled shyly at him and lick my lips.

I turn back to my food and continue to munch on it as my belly continues to rumble, Theo continues to eat his food. I watch Aria and Cane as Theo’s words stuck on my brain.

Cane is watching her and she feels his gaze on her, I see that she feels slightly awkward but her face goes red. I push into her aura and feel that she feels attracted towards him. As they continue to look at each other, both of their hearts beats fast.

Cane then looks at me as I continue to watch them, I hear him clear his throat and he looks sheepishly at me. I smile at him and he looks down at his watch, he feels slightly awkward. I then turn my gaze towards Aria and she too was looking at me. They see what’s going on and they know I see what’s going on too and they both feel awkward about it.

My attention gets snapped away when a boy and a girl sat down at our table. They both looked at me and Theo with wide grins on their faces, “Hi, Theo.” They both exclaimed in unison.

Theo clears his throat as he finish eating his mouthful, “Nope, you two go away.” He grunts at them and they laugh at him.

The girl pouts while the boy grins, “But we want to meet your lady.”

He sighs, “Fine, this is Lexi.” He groans as he cups my neck and strokes it with his thumb, sending waves of electricity through my body.

“Snowflake, these two are more of my cousins. They’re twins and on my Ma’s side, they’re my mother’s auntie’s sister’s children. Slightly confusing but calling us cousins make it easier to explain.”

“I see, nice to meet you,” I wave my hand at them and they both wave back.

“I’m June and my brother is Joey.” June announced.

“That’s nice.“ My voice sounded a little sassy but I didn’t mean it to so I cleared my throat and Theo grabbed my hand and rested it on the table while hooking his fingers through mine.

Things then fell silently which made things awkward so after a short while they asked us a few questions before leaving, I met more of Theo’s family and Theo started to get rather annoyed. You could tell he wasn’t enjoying it so I made sure that he was comfortable at least by massaging his head. People were attentive towards it but I just ignored it, I wanted my man to be relaxed so I didn’t care.

As the night progressed, people were on the dance floor and everyone was going crazy. I had a few dances with my friends while Theo danced with his and when music started to slow down Theo took my hand and we slowed dance, he was staring into my eyes and his eyes were glowing. His wolf was dancing with my own, the four of us were connecting and the night couldn’t be any more magical.

“See, it’s not been that bad, Papi.” I coo at him.

He rolls his eyes at me then chuckles, he cups my face and moves hair to my side and kisses me passionately. I snake my hands around his broad shoulders and wrap my arms around his neck, the kiss becomes more steamy as our tongues dance. Groans fill the air and I feel eyes on us but I don’t care, Theo on the other hand seem to.

He pulls away and sighs about four times, he then sighs one more time and cup my chin while holding my waist. His face was bright red and I know it’s because he’s hot for me and not because he’s embarrassed. Theo doesn’t seem the type to be embarrassed, nervous yes, but not embarrassed. He’s a man with dignity and pride, that’s one of the things I love about him.

“Let’s go for some air, Snowflake.” I nod at him and he pulls me out of the hall.
