It is eerily dark as we slowly make our way through the caves. As I walk next to him, my fingers are tightly entangled in Blake’s fur. I can hear water dripping, but besides that, only our breathing is audible.
“I swear to goddess I’m going to have nightmares like a little child after this.” I mind link Zoe. “I’m going to need a nightlight to fall asleep.”
“I cannot agree more,” Zoe replies. “It’s much too dark for comfort.”
“On the bright side, we found our mates and don’t have to sleep alone anymore,” I grin.
A loud bang echoes through the caves before Zoe can reply and we stop abruptly. I focus on my hearing, but all can hear is muffling in the distance.
