Chapter 6: The War God

A week already passed by and still, nothing happened. Truthfully, I’m getting restless but Sonya told me that she and the owner will handle the affairs at the school. Well, not until this day. We were having our class for today as usual until we’re interrupted by the announcement through the broadcasting speakers throughout the school.

“Come out, quenness”

The whole classroom became quiet after the announcement, even the professor. Some of our classmates has the same reaction as our professor.

“Okay class, that will be all today” The professor breaks the silence temporarily and left.

The mood of the room became silent and heavier as some of our classmates tried to talk with the others but they refused. Eve and Sonya approach me.

I gave them a nod and we all went to the owner’s office but I suddenly sensed a familiar feeling.

“Wait!” I stopped the two of them, “I’ll go in first, someone is using Fal-Hel”

“We’ll back you up” Eve answers.

I then go ahead and kick the door open. I was surprised to see the person who was cornering the owner.

“Sir Andrew?”

I was shocked to see the professor, but I already expected this.

“Mr. Folly… What are you doing here?” He turns around, fully giving me his attention.

“I should be the one asking that, what are you doing to the owner?” I glanced over him and her.

“Look, get out of this room and pretend that you didn’t see anything” He then turns his attention back to her, “Or else you’ll get caught up in this mess”

“Heh, still kind as ever but sad to say, I’m already caught up in this mess”

The door behind me suddenly opens and the two enter the room.

“Sir Andrew!?” Eve and Sonya said at the same time.

“I see, then you three are also involved” He takes off his glasses, “Back off now, I don’t want to fight you three”

“Before that, I want to know..” I raise my hand, “Which faction do you belong to?”

He stops for a moment and answers, “I don’t belong to any faction”

“Then why did you attack her?” Sonya butts in.

“She refused to say anything about the quenness” He answers seriously.

Wait, what? Don’t tell me this person is…

“State your name”

At first, he hesitated but he gives us a pained look.

“Alexander Messiana” He glares at us, “This is your last chance, get lost”

“Alex, isn’t that the name of the war god? This is THAT person?” Sonya nervously said.

“Did he and the quenness have some sort of history?” Eve looks at me.

“War god ehh?” I didn’t talk anymore and silently walk towards him, “This is indeed my business”

“Arc?” Eve tried to stop me.

“Hey! That’s dangerous!” Sonya also does the same.

The two of them grabbed my uniform tightly.

“Let me go! I’m gonna smack that damn brat!” I shout at the two of them.

Eve, Sonya, the professor, and the owner looks confused by my actions. Then the professor began to realize what I said.

“Q-Quenness!?” He points at me while shaking, “T-This isn’t what it looks like!”

“Not what it looks like eyy?” I begin to c***k my knuckles, “Looks like this another stupid student of mine forgot what I taught”

“STUDENT?!”

The two of them look at each other then lets go of me.

“W-wait!” He backs down to a wall.

“Bring the owner outside, I have some PERSONAL business here” I give them a motion to get out of the room.

They carry the owner outside and the two of us are left.

“Now, now…” I gave him a sharp glare

“NOOOOOOOOOO!!!” He responds by screaming at the top of his lungs.

After a little while of ‘lesson’, I walked out of the room.

“I-is he alive? Meow?” The owner looks scared.

“Did you kill him!?” Eve eagerly asks

“Are there more of your students other than me?” Sonya’s eyes were sparkling.

“Now, now. Let’s all come in first” I pointed back to the room, “We need to make a plan and take action”

We all entered the room and saw the professor’s beaten face.

“What a pathetic face! Meow!” The owner laughs while holding her stomach, “Serves you right! Meow!”

“At least, I’m not cursed by the teacher” He replies and looks away.

“Sonya, can you heal his face back?” I let out a sigh.

“Sure!” He immediately went to his side and healed his face.

“Now, first of all. How the hell did you know that I became the quenness? After I left you a long time ago, I’m pretty sure I covered my tracks”

“T-That’s why I became a war god! To find you again!” His voice trembled, “I-I wanted to find you because---“

“The war between the celestials and the pure-blooded, I suppose?” I cut him off, “You know the reason why I don’t want to reveal myself, right?”

He looks down, “Yes… But, in the end, I did what you said. I tried to do the right thing but it all failed miserably”

“Look, that is in the past. However, why did you continue to find me?” I raised an eyebrow.

“I… have nothing left anymore…”

I let out a sigh, “Fine, but you didn’t think about your actions earlier. Maybe you didn’t have anything left anymore in your past life. However, remember that before you remembered your past, you are a professor and not a warrior”

 “That’s true, I still have my parents and younger brother. Looks like I’m reckless about my choice this time” He raised his head, “I’m sorry”

“I accept it, but for now” I looked at the three, “Owner, you need to take action now. There will be more accidents like this if we don’t make a move”

“I understand and I just know a method. Meow.” She was about to walk away.

“Wait, bring him along” I pointed at the professor and I looked at him, “You apologize for what you did earlier, got it?”

The two walks out of the room and the three of us are left. As I expected, they bombarded me with questions.

“Look, he’s my first student and he’s almost the same as me back then” I answered.

“The same as you back then?” Eve raised an eyebrow.

“But the master is still the same back then and now” Sonya innocently fires back, “Still reckless and careless”

“A-Anyway, if I remember correctly I have ten students in total including you two” I tried to change the topic, “Three of them are my daughters”

“Arc, I always wanted to know back then” Eve's expression turned into a serious one, “Why didn’t you tell any of this back in the past? I know it’s rude to ask about it but I also wanted to learn a bit about you”

“Even I know almost nothing of master in the past” Sonya had the same expression.

“Look, there are many reasons why I don’t talk about myself back then and I’m telling you both this right now because there is nothing to hide anymore” I leaned back on the wall, “Why do you think I became so powerful? How many decades I’ve lived through? And how many wars I changed for selfish reasons?”

The two of them fell silent.

“See? There are things worth telling but my whole past isn’t one of them” I ended my answer.

The two of them looked at each other then looks at me.

“I see no reason to not believe you. Back then, I trusted you blindly and the day I was filled with doubt, it became my demise” Eve smiles at me, “I won’t make the same mistake twice”

“Well as long master said it, I also have no more questions” Sonya agreed with Eve.

“Haah, you two really are…” I didn’t finish my sentence.

Suddenly, a voice can be heard from the broadcasting speakers.

“Good afternoon everyone, after seeing the mood of our students today we decided to have a little surprise for all of you! Professor Andrew William from class 1-E will sing a song for everyone” It’s the owner’s voice and she looks excited.

“Now that I think about it, I think the REAL reason Mr. William attacked the owner is that she’s annoying?”

“Well, you’re annoyed by her back then, right? That’s the reason you put him under a curse” Eve giggles.

“Master, it feels like you have a hobby to distribute your traits to your students” Sonya laughs.

“T-Thank you for that Madam and now, I will sing a song that’s different from the current trend to make a fresh perspective” He clears his throat, “Look how the flowers have bloomed, can you see where it came from? The highest peak where the sun and moon never meets…”

He began to sing a familiar and an old song back in our world.

“Fated Meeting” I whispered to myself.

It was a song about two lovers who are fated but never meant to meet each other. In the morning, the girl plants the flowers and at night the boy takes care of them. They decided to meet on the hill where the girl planted the flowers but on the day of their meeting, the boy was lying on the ground with his pool of blood. The snow-white flowers that the girl planted became crimson red just like the moon and sun when they meet.

“I haven’t heard that song” Eve said while listening

“Me neither, but it’s wonderful” Sonya seems to like the song

The song ended and the professor said the message at the end of the song.

“If you’re looking for answers, go to the owner’s office after class” Then the broadcasting ended.

“They sure know how to gain attention, but now the plan will take action” I turned to Eve, “Eve, you go with Sonya after the class and you’ll be my representative while I take care of business”

“You mean, you’ll guard by yourself?” Eve looks at me worriedly, “That’s dangerous!”

“It won’t be, I’ll be bringing the professor with me just in case” I replied.

Eve lets out a sigh of relief.

“And besides, I already know who will be coming later” I said with a smirk, “Now, no more questions and we need to go back to our class”

I pushed them out of them and we all walked back to the room.

I didn’t tell them but I can already sense ten-person who is secretly hiding their presence and a separate person who’s intentionally leaking his/her Fal-Hel. This should get interesting.

“Greetings, teacher” Alex lowers his head, “I’m done with reading books that you gave me”

“Then, go swing your sword a thousand times” I told him without looking, “After that, come to me again”

“Teacher, are you messing with me? I already did swing my sword today” He said while glaring at me.

“Oh? Then do tell me, you wanted to learn from me, right? If you aren’t willing to do it then you are free to leave” I pointed at the door, “Remember, once you leave, you cannot go back anymore”

He bit his lip and lets out a sigh, “Fine, I will do as you say”

He picked up his sword and went outside to train.

The truth is I was really messing with him and I wanted him to quit, but his determination is high as the heavens to become the strongest. I sent him on pointless errands and even menial tasks, although he always complained his determination never once wavered.

“Alex, come here” I touched his forehead with my finger, “From now on, I will help you to become the strongest and in return, you must find your own way of doing so”

“I knew it! You’re messing with me!” He slaps away my hand

“Yes I did, but because I didn’t want to do it.” I looked at him seriously, “But, I changed my mind about you, and now, are you still willing to do it?”

He didn’t answer for a while and he lets out a sigh.

“I have already gone this far, there’s no turning back!” His face turned into that of a warrior.

A warrior that soon became the war god.
