Chapter 4: The Truth

“Are you telling me that other factions are planning something?” I looked at the owner seriously, “I thought there are only a few people that are like us”

“You think you’re something special? We are all just the same. Fragments of the past” She looks at me angrily.

“Then, why did you attack me?”

“Because you might destroy this school again! You think I didn’t see you that day!?” She shouts.

“And that’s the reason you combined several schools into one? You think you can protect it alone?”

“Who said that I’m alone?”

I expected someone will come at the moment she said that, but looks like I watched too many movies.

“I see. So you’re just protecting the school along with the others?” I snapped my fingers and released her, “I understand your situation but I don’t belong to any factions, you can confirm it with the princess”

“Princess? Princess Lilaf?” There’s still doubt in her voice, “Why do you know her?”

“I see, so you’re from the same faction” I sighed, “She can vouch for me. But, are you sure that what you did is a good idea?”

“What do you mean?” She stands up.

“You’re involving innocent people here”

“But, I did this to protect them! The other factions use any method be it killing innocent bystanders or wreaking havoc” She answers, “And since we only have a few people, unlike those bastards!”

The door behind me suddenly breaks and three students entered. Looks like these three are the so-called ‘reinforcements’.

“You!” One of them charged at me

“This is getting ridiculous” I restrained him, “DON’T.MOVE”

“Sonya, Eve. Come to the principal’s office now. I need your help”

The four of them including the owner became confused, but they are trying to break free. After a minute of waiting, the two girls finally came.

“Arc! What’s this!?”

“Are these enemies!?”

The two of them started bombarding me with questions.

“Relax, it seems like they belong to the Dargon Kingdom. They mistook me for an enemy”

“Mistaken? You destroyed the school!” One of the three students answered.

“Arche only did that to save us!” Sonya butted in, “And she only destroyed a part of the school!”

I released their restrains and pointed at Sonya, “Look, talk with princess Lilaf here. I don’t care anymore if you see me as an enemy or not.”

I sat down and Eve moves closer to me.

“Are you hurt?” She worriedly asks.

I smiled inside and suddenly, a thought entered my mind.

I held my head and pretended it hurt, “My head…”

She hugs me, “You want me to heal it?”

I hugged her back, “Nahh, this is enough”

“Your boyfriend is a liar as if he can get hurt!” The owner butts in.

“That witch tried to enter my mind!” I faked tears.

“What witch!?” Her face is turning red, “And remove this Fal-Hel from me immediately!”

“What did you do to her?” Eve pushes me slightly away.

“Well, she became ‘mine’--” I suddenly realized what I said, “Wait! I-it’s not like that!”

She crosses her arms and turns away.

I turned to the owner, “You…!”

The owner smirks then an idea strikes me.

“You think you got me eyy? Then let’s see, from now on you need to say meow, every time your sentence ends!”

“As if I’ll obey! I’d rather die!” She suddenly fell down to her knees.

Everyone in the room looks at me.

Looks like they thought that I killed her, but as if I’m gonna kill in front of Eve.

“Relax, she won’t die. I can alter the punishment and now she…”

Her body became smaller and smaller until she became a cat. Everyone in the room suddenly laughs.

“T-the owner became a cat!” One of the male students holds out his stomach.

“Is this an adult cat? It’s the first time I saw one!” One of the trios blurted out.

While the last one is holding out his laughter.

“Now, now. You’ll return to being a human the moment you purr” I grinned.

I can’t help but laugh at the little cat, she’s clearly pissed off.

“Well, we’re off.” I grabbed Eve’s hand

“Wait. Aren’t we going to help them?”

“Relax, they don’t need help now. This is a crucial part for Sonya too.” We arrived at the rooftop, “Since classes have already started we might as well use this time to hang out!”

“Hmph, I’m still angry with you” She folded her arms and pouts

“So cute” I gave her a smile but her reaction suddenly changed, “What’s wrong?”

“S-sorry, I suddenly remembered something…” She looks down, “Hey, you mind if I ask some questions about the queenness?”

“Sure, ask away”

“I know you’re someone close to her, but.. What was she like when she was not yet that powerful?”

“Just your everyday normal girl, she has no ambition back then and I think that if she didn’t get all-powerful, she would be nothing.”

“That’s not true! That’s not the queenness that I know! She has lots of ambitions, for her daughters, for herself, and the world…” She suddenly looks at me, “Tell me the truth, are you her lover??”

I suddenly choked myself, “Where the hell did you get that thing? Of course not!”

“Then… Who are you?..”

I let out a sigh, “Fine, I’ll tell you. But, don’t tell Sonya”

“Is that really a big of a deal?” She asks.

“It’s not but I’ll tell her myself at the right time, for now..”

“I see”

“You see, I’m…” I took a deep breath, “Arya Sucaumus, the queenness”

I looked at her and is surprised by her reaction, I expected she would be shocked but she was smiling and crying at the same time.

“Wahhhhh! You…!” She suddenly holds my hand

“Hey, calm down now” I patted her head, “Are you sure I’m not lying?”

“As if… I know you aren’t lying” She suddenly stands up and wipes off her tears.

She kneels with her right knee on the ground, “This time, I will not fail as your knightess! I will protect you with my second life!”

“Virelia…”

I suddenly remembered the day Virelia Aloxomos, vowed to me as my knightess.

“What are you doing, get up now. You’re not my knight anymore, you’re my girlfriend now”

“No, as long as I live I will be your knight. I’m not allowed to raise my head higher than the queenness”

I crossed my arms, “You’re being stubborn again, Virelia Aloxomos”

“But—“

“No buts, you still remember what you said back then right? The same applies to you, Virelia is Virelia and Eve is Eve” I held out my hand, “Now, are you gonna keep being stubborn?”

“Queenness…” She holds my hand and I pulled her up, “But that is a different thing! It’s not fair!”

“Don’t worry about it anymore, I’m a boy now and no longer holds that title. You are now free from your burden”

“No, I will live by my words and die by it. Serving you was the best thing that ever happened to me, it never even crossed my mind as a burden”

Knowing her, she won’t back down at all.

“Fine, then I will also make my vow” I cleared my throat and immediately initiate it.

“I, the soul of Arya Saucumus, the body of Arche Folly, vows to protect Eve Blaine’s body and Virelia Alexomos’s soul. This vow is eternal; I live by my words and die by my words.

I finished my vow and Eve suddenly hits me.

“You stupid! Why did you do that!?” She then follows up with more hits, “I was supposed to be your knight!”

“How the tables have turned~~” I teased her and caught her arms

“I’m not joking!” She said abruptly

“Then so am I” I seriously looked at her eyes, “I’m serious, even if I’m not Arya and you’re not Virelia. I will do the same thing I did just now”

She looks at me and blushes intensely, “F-fine! But, I will still be your knight as Virelia Alexomos”

“Then I, Arche Folly will be your knight as well”

Who would have thought, that we got closer when I revealed who I am. Well, now that I think about it…

“Wait, this is kinda confusing. I’m straight, right?” I asked Eve.

“Huh? What do you mean?” She innocently asks.

“Well I’m a girl in the past, then now I’m a boy now” I scratched my head.

She suddenly laughs, “Dummy! Of course, you’re straight!”

“Heh, it’s nice to see you laugh again”

We were taking our time together when suddenly Sonya tries to communicate with us.

“Arche, Eve. You need to hear this, I found some important information”

Eve and I looked at each other.

“We’ll be on our way”

We immediately went on our way to the principal’s office.

“Wait a minute, why don’t you want to let me know Sonya who you are?” She suddenly asks.

“Well, I disappeared without saying a word to her back then” I tried to laugh it off.

“I’m going to keep it a secret, but you better tell her soon. She really looks up to you”

“Yeah”

We arrived and everyone looks serious, including Sonya. Looks like the owner turned back to being human again.

“Well, what’s the news?” I interrupted the silence.

“There’s an enemy in the school right now but we still don’t know who he is” Sonya started, “According to Melissa, this information just got here now”

“So let me take a guess, the enemy somehow predicted Melissa’s plan and now, that enemy is now lurking around the school with some plan?” I walked towards a wall

“Yes, meow” The owner said which made me laugh, “You did this to me! Meow!”

“So, we just need to track down the enemy. What seems to be the problem?” I didn’t turn around and still looked at the wall.

“The enemy is skilled enough and we can’t find him without raising suspicion. Meow.”

“Looks like, I already found him” The wall in front of me suddenly moves and I grabbed him before he could use Fal-Hel, “The enemy is here, what should we do?”

“That… was fast. Meow.” She approached the enemy, “Restrain him and we’ll take care of him”

She turns around facing Sonya, “Princess we will interrogate this man. Please give us permission”

“I think you should allow them” I tried to convince Sonya

“I.. don’t know, this feels wrong” Her expression suddenly changed, “This all feels wrong for some reason.”

I kinda felt what she means, our past should not be even here and in fact, it shouldn’t even affect us in the present. Yet, here we are together bound by the past.

“Then, it’s a no?” I asked her

She shakes her head and leaves.

“Then I’ll free this one outside” I dragged him outside, “Now, now. Why don’t you tell me what faction are you from?”

“I-I thought you were gonna let me free?” I can feel him trembling.

“Now, now. You see I’m not a part of their faction since I’m independent, I’m doing this for myself” I cracked my knuckles, “So, what is your answer?”

He suddenly started chanting, looks like he’s using Fal-Hel. I snapped my fingers but I felt a familiar sensation around my arm. I let my guard down and let the enemy escape.

“Looks like you’re here too” I looked up in the sky, “I wonder where are you at. I want to beat you up so badly”

“I always wanted to ask queenness, do you have a rival or enemy?” Virelia asks all of a sudden.

“Now that I think of it, I guess I had one? But he’s not my match so I don’t consider him an enemy” I took a sip on my cup of tea, “I don’t hear much news from him anymore”

“I heard some rumors though, the rumors are about a man claiming to be the queenness’s husband” Virelia said bluntly

I suddenly choked my tea.

“He did what?!”
