When you’ve lost everything, sometimes the person you need most is the one you should run from.

I woke up in a world that wasn’t mine , a mansion of cold marble and hidden truths, a man with eyes like storms and a voice that could command silence. Aaron Wayne. He said I was safe with him. But safety, I soon learned, was just another kind of cage.

Every day, I tried to remember who I was before the accident, before the fire, before the blood. But memory is cruel, and in its emptiness, I found only him.

Aaron became my world steady, unreadable, hauntingly kind. I thought I needed his control, his protection… until Devante Lanchester appeared.

Devante was a scar I couldn’t stop tracing. He reminded me that my heart still beat, that I could still want, still fight. But loving him meant tearing down everything Aaron had built to keep me alive.

Two men

one who could break me, one who could save me.

And somewhere between them, I began to wonder which one I truly needed… and who I was when I wasn’t theirs.

Because love, in this world, doesn’t just ask you to choose, it demands that you survive.

The family/business contract
(At Rosewood Grand Hotel , A Private Business Dinner) Soft music filled the room, blending with the low hum of conversation. Crystal glasses clinked softly as servers moved around the long table, refilling drinks. Sabrina sat beside her father, listening as he and his long-time business partner, Mr. Wayne, discussed numbers, expansions, and market shares. Their tone was casual, but she could sense a layer beneath it, something planned. “I’m confident that if our companies merge,” Mr. Wayne said with a smile, “it’ll benefit us both tremendously. But to make this alliance even stronger, I’ve been thinking—” He paused, glancing at Sabrina, then at his own son seated beside her. “Maybe it’s time our families united in more ways than one.” Her father chuckled softly. “I had a feeling you’d say that, Martin.” Sabrina looked between them. “Dad?” Her father gave her a gentle smile. “Nothing to worry about, sweetheart. We just want you and Aaron to talk a little get to know each other. No pressure.” “Of course,” she said quietly, folding her hands in her lap. Mr. Wayne gestured toward a smaller table set up at the side of the room. “Why don’t you both sit over there for a bit? It’s easier to talk away from all this noise.” Sabrina nodded politely and rose to her feet. Aaron followed, clearly amused by the whole thing. They sat across from each other, and for a moment, neither spoke. Sabrina finally broke the silence. “So… Aaron, what do you do?” He smirked. “Do? I don’t really do anything. My father’s workers takes care of most things.” She blinked. “Oh. I thought maybe you worked with him, or had a role in the business.” He leaned back in his chair, stretching lazily. “Not really my thing. I prefer having fun, Work’s too stressful.” Sabrina nodded slowly, choosing her words carefully. “I see. So you must travel a lot, then?” “Mostly for fun,” he said with a grin. “You know, sign contracts , survey along side parties, friends, that kind of thing.” She smiled faintly, trying to remain polite, though the conversation felt shallow. “That’s nice.” Aaron tilted his head. “You’re different from what I expected. Quiet, serious… kind of elegant, actually.” “Thank you,” she said softly. Then, out of nowhere, he placed his hand on her knee under the table. Sabrina’s breath caught. She gently moved his hand away, her voice calm but firm. “Please don’t do that.” He laughed. “Relax, it’s just a touch. You’re too tense.” She straightened in her chair, folding her hands again, her voice steady. “I think we’ve talked enough.” She looked away, her thoughts spinning. Is this the kind of person they want me to tie my life to? She’d worked so hard built a name for herself, supported her father’s dreams, spent years protecting his reputation. She couldn’t let one night destroy that. Just then, the door opened, and a model swept in Cameras flashing, paparazzi trailing behind her, the noise in the room changed instantly. The flashes caught her and Aaron sitting together ,the distance between them looking far too intimate in photos. Her father stood. “No pictures, please!” Mr. Wayne’s face went pale. “Turn those cameras off!” But it was too late. The damage was done. Sabrina’s pulse raced. If those pictures leaked, her reputation, her father’s image , everything ,could be ruined. Then she saw a men walks in , his scents fills her senses , he comes across the hall, greeting Mr. Wayne, which Made Mr. Wayne make an introduction , after that he leaves . An idea came risky, but better than letting those photos speak for her. She stood quickly. “Excuse me,” she murmured, walking away from the table. Her father called after her, “Sabrina?” But she kept walking until she reached Devante. “Devante,” she said softly. He turned, startled, confusion flickering across his face. And before he could speak, she reached for him. Her fingers brushed his collar ,warm fabric beneath her trembling hands, and she pulled him closer. The world stilled. Her lips met his, soft and sudden, a collision of desperation and courage. For an instant, everything, the flashing lights, the gasps, the chaos, disappeared. There was only the quiet thud of her pulse and the steady calm of him standing still beneath her touch. When she finally pulled away, her voice was barely a breath. “Please… just go with it.pls I will repay you ” Devante’s eyes searched hers, full of questions she didn’t have time to answer. Without another word he kissed her this time around the sparks was stronger, she could feel his tongues in her mouth , his hands everywhere , they couldn't breathe, she could feel her whole body change , just as she was trying to understand why her body felt so connected to him , he pulled away . And then, without another word, she turned back toward the hall , head high, heart racing, knowing that nothing would ever be the same after that kiss. Sabrina turned back toward the table , her father frozen in shock, Mr. Wayne speechless, and Aaron wide-eyed. She took a quiet breath and walked out, her heart pounding. She hadn’t wanted to cause a scene, but at least she’d done something to protect what mattered , her name, her father’s vision, and the life she’d worked so hard to build. The hall had gone quiet , too quiet. Her father’s voice broke through it first, heavy with disbelief. “What was that, Sabrina?” She couldn’t speak. Her hands trembled slightly as the murmurs of onlookers filled the space around them. Across the table, his business partner’s expression darkened. “This is humiliating, Daniel,” he said sharply. “Completely humiliating. We were discussing an important partnership, and now this? Your daughter’s impulsive actions just destroyed months of work!” Her father’s jaw tightened, his eyes still fixed on her. “Sabrina,” he said, his voice low and cold, “we’ll discuss this at home.” He rose from his seat without another word. The business partner followed, still muttering angrily about “reputation” and “respect.” Sabrina stood frozen, unable to move. Her throat burned with the words she wanted to say explanations, apologies, something but nothing came out. Her fingers tightened around her purse. This wasn’t how the night was supposed to end
